GS FAQ

How many copies of a game can I trade in?
You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of a game (per system) within a rolling 30 day period.

What do I need to trade in an older console?

the console, power cable, av cable, and controller; sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3ds xl trade would be console, charger, stylus. Some have reported being charged refurb fee for a stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

FAQ will be entered when those questions get asked frequently.

Apologies if this has been covered, but does anyone know if the $10 extra trade credit coupon for select Switch games stacks with the promotion of an extra $5 for Switch games (which expires today)? Thanks.

No, and as I just learned, you can’t even use the $10 right now because they won’t stack. The $5 applies automatically, and can’t be taken off. The dilemma is I’m guessing the switch tivs go down tomorrow..

I was able to use the +$10 today in a separate transaction. Won't work alongside other games getting promos.

Thank you both for the info. As for Switch values, the email I got advertising trade values said values were guaranteed through 3/19 and 2 Switch titles are displayed. While it does have an * indicating the usual disclaimer that things can change as GS sees fit, I expect them to hold so... I won't even be attempting to use my coupon today :)

Realistically the only things I would give even a tiny chance of changing tomorrow are titles in the new sale like switch lego games.

Wouldn't it be better to wait till tomorrow to trade switch games in with the 50% coupon that's supposed to come tomorrow? Or does everyone here think the tiv will tank tomorrow? I thought I saw someone post that they are guaranteed until tomorrow.

I personally think they'll hold, but I took the $10 bonus. The values could change, but they could also see my purchases  being traded in, and I'm unsure I'll get the 50% coupon even though I made a purchase on Nintendo day.

It's one of those things where you're taking a risk. We think they will hold, but there's no real way to be sure.
I hear ya. I just hope they hold until tomorrow. I got lucky and found a store with a lot of used switch games that I used my b2g1 coupon. I hope it'll be worth it tomorrow.

For all the discussion of whether to trade or wait.. As long as your store isn't a trade hold store. Why not trade them in today with the current $10 coupon and then buy them outright tomorrow and trade them to another store with your newly acquired coupon that is supposed to be dropping tomorrow. Even without B2G1 free if the values hold you'd still be making $15 a copy at that point sans sales tax depending upon where you are at. This is assuming that you are Elite Pro obviously to get the copies for $44 each. Not to mention all of the points you'd earn as well. Store Leader basically never ever works on Sunday unless it's an extreme scenario but they always open on Monday for payroll. Might as well double dip instead of worrying about whether the values will hold and risk your gamble.

Employee told me startin tomorrow it’s extra $20 dollars (not percent) when trading in three or more switch games. No idea how it’ll stack with the $10 or the 50%, but if you weren’t pre-ordering for 40% today and just using the “extra $5” that expired today , it would’ve been better tomorrow. Specifically an extra $5 on every three sets.

They're desperate to get NSW games, eh?

It's worded "extra 20 on 3 or more" ... so unsure if it stacks in sets of 3 or would need to be multiple transactions.

He def said three or more so you’re gonna have to do multiple transactions possibly at other stores/shifts lest you have a really friendly employee willing to get you more.

Stopped at my local GS & talked with the manager.  He confirmed that there will be new trade promos tomorrow towards at least MLB The Show 18 (confirmed) & others (assuming Far Cry 5 at least).  Standard 20% to 40% extra trade credit with the appropriate Power Up Rewards membership (Free, Pro, Elite Pro).  I'm definitely going to take advantage tomorrow with the Boost Weekend values still in effect to grab a MLB The Show 18 preorder...

I wish I saw this information before I traded in 2 sets of 3 Switch games (Lego games and Monopoly) today to take advantage of the extra $5 bonus. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

Check active offers. $25 extra credit on One PS4 Switch and PSVR console trades. Starts tomorrow through 31st/1st?

Should I trade Secret of Mana for $28 or hold on to it? Only bought it b/c it was GS exclusive physical copy so I figured it would stay valuable, but most reviews are negative on it & I have a SNES Classic & my original SNES cart so I'm leaning towards trade.

But I don't want to trade the game now if it'll be worth $60 or more in a year or so if it's not reprinted. Thanks for your time.

I bought my copy to play. After some reconsidering I decided I didn't need yet ANOTHER copy of it, I own it on iOS and SNES Classic.

Thankfully, I was able to return it to GS. The store I returned it to had 15+ copies remaining when I returned it.

Does anyone know if we can still purchase gift cards to other stores with Gamestop credit? I really want to buy some southwest plane tickets

Just saw that I too received the 50% switch bonus coupon, won’t be able to hit any stores since I work tomorrow so hopefully on Tuesday the TIVs haven’t tanked too terribly

I got the 50% Switch game bonus as well, and I don't remember buying anything from gamestop during that sale. Darn, I did my last batch of games today with the $5 per game bonus - would have gotten an extra $4-5 per game doing the coupon instead. Oh well :)

Got the $25 hardware coupon - I'm assuming by "hardware" it means consoles...*really* could have used the 50% one. I got a Facebook/Pawn Shop haul over the weekend that would benefit greatly from it.

Could somebody who got the 50% coupon post a screenshot of their active offers screen on the app?

I’m elite pro and traded a ds4 towards ni no kuni at a prestige store yesterday. I got $35 trade credits. The 10% extra for trades at prestige stores was for games not accessories.
PSA: fill out dem surveys so we can get more prestige stores and sales.
Odd. There was the 25% extra on DS4 and Xbox one controller. Wonder why they didn't give you $36.25 at the very least (20% elite and the aforementioned 25% boost on controllers). Was hoping the 25% extra on controllers, 20% elite, and the extra 10% for prestige day stacked.

almost like the 40% bonus overrode the 45% that you would get preordering nothing

Hoping this promo increases the stock of Switch games in my area. Looks like my local prestige store has a lot of preowned games now. Trying to burn my B2G1 and some trade credit.

New promo for Switch games "extra 20 on 3 or more" and new games added to the 40% (i.e. MLB 18 The Show and others) coming this week
Wait where was the first thing mentioned? Must have missed that.
