Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I didn't play enough of the alpha to see it, but how does matchmaking work in sea of thieves? Google only brings up older forum posts and not post launch info. Can I choose in the menu to be matched with a group to man a larger ship or is it just "we're tossing you in this world GTA:O style with 20 other people in it, have fun"? I'd use my free trial for gamepass for sea of thieves potentially before far cry 5 but don't really want to if I'll be playing alone.

Speaking of Far Cry 5, I like the idea of the live action shorts ubi has been doing for recent games. I watched the FC5 one last night and have seen the division one but not ghost recon. They're not amazing but it's an interesting way to be introduced to the plot other than a barrage of trailers.

EDIT:

Curious, but does anyone still play Destiny 2? I Totally forgot about that game until today and never hear any news of it and for a game that is trying to become one of those long term games through updates and events, it sure seems to have fallen off the radar especially after so many people bought it.
I sold my physical copy a month or so ago. I played them solo and can only grind non raid stuff for so long by myself. I also knew better than to buy any DLC after spending like $120+ on the first game that eventually dropped to $30 with all that content. It may have been because I spent so much on it, but I played the first one a lot more than the second. The only thing that kept me going back to the second one was Iron Banner for the cool armor.

I did a search for "hitman" and didn't get any results, so apologies if it's already been mentioned.

Hitman Spring Pack is free right now, for a limited time. It gives free access to Episode 2 of the latest Hitman game. Back in December, there was a Hitman Holiday Pack which gave free access to Episode 1.

If this pattern continues, the entire game will be free eventually. Lol.
Thanks for the heads up on this! I hope you’re right that the whole game ends up free over time.

I play. There are several other CAGs that play. It's due for a season 3 update. I've completed most of the story content. Other tasks can be a repetitive grind for upgraded gear. Recently they've used a knock out system to avoid excessive repeats for gear drops. Haven't dropped a dime on microtransactions or in game currency. I know not everyone was pleased with the game but overall I've been pretty happy.

You can choose whether to be matched with a crew on a larger ship, a smaller ship, or go solo with the smaller ship. There are at least a few other people on the same server as you whenever you login, but they're just out doing whatever they're doing.

I still play pretty regularly. This week is the last Faction Rally for Season 2, so I'm thinking the Faction armor and their ornaments might not be obtainable after this week.

Here is the CAG thread about the game if you have any interest in the reading. It's slowed down quite a bit in the last few months.

Bungie has been making QoL changes to the game and we are due for another one at the next reset. The changes they have been making are definitely making things better, but I'm afraid for a good chunk of folks the ship has sailed or Bungie will need to make a lot more changes.

Here is the roadmap for the biggest changes Bungie plans on making to the game:

And here I was worried to sound disrespectful after the "God of War this, God of War that", "SoT bombed", "the game's for streamers" and all that malarkey. Wonder if it's going to be the same once State of Decay 2 comes out?

Again, I'll give SoT a shot probably tomorrow and by the weekend (if not earlier) should make up my mind about it. Five of my friends played it last night and they had a blast, at least last night.

Haven’t tried it yet but apparently an update last week got Redout up to 60FPS at 4K on Xbox One X. It’s a great game but ran like shit on X. Hope this now runs as good as they say it does.

I know this has been discussed before but I picked up the UE of Fallout New Vegas and thought I should install with disc 1 and play with disc 2. but you only want to use disk 2, had to delete the disk 1 install and only use disk 2 to get the DLC to show up

Ehh if its anything as good as the 1st one its all good plus it also helps it for $30

I started Sea of Thieves. Ate a banana. Opened my map. Couldn't figure out where to go or where my crew were and got bored of walking in circles around the starting island trying to figure out wtf to do. Two of my teammates were making "HURRRRRRR" noises in their mics with what sounded like their mics in their mouths. Muted them, but then remembered this is supposed to be a fun coop game with communication, so I did the only thing I could do. Walked into the water and slowly drowned myself, and uninstalled.

It's sooooooo good.

The "hurrrrr" part had me cracking up.

Whoever said this was a "goof off game" was on point. That's all this is. A "wacky pirate antics" simulator.

Welcome to Xbox live.

Played another 4-5 hours of Sea of Thieves, can confirm still having a blast
That's awesome! My buddy in another state says he wants me to play it with him, but I just haven't had fun w those type of games since I quit WoW 12 years ago. I didn't like Destiny either, but I get the appeal for others.

I just wanted to let people know that there is fun to be had in the game since I am seeing a lot of people not liking it, not for everyone for sure, but I'll continue to play it :D

Actually Destiny The Collection is still $60 on the marketplace. It was only on sale for $30 once. I know because I've been watching for a sale since I got my X.

Pretty suspiscious that there are some SUPER glowing reviews of Sea of Thieves on Amazon the day it came out and someone from Microsoft has commented directly on most of them....

I am enjoying Sea of Thieves. To me Sea of Thieves seems to hit the right spot of not being too complicated and still being fun. What I mean is SoT is a game where a year from now I can just jump back in without having to relearn everything about the game which will happen. I expect this game to be something like Minecraft that keeps on getting updates.

I expected this to not be deep as a game, but instead have those that was awesome moments.

I don't see a quests bar.
It wasn't up very long. The main stream was running for about a half hour or so, a bit after 8pm Eastern until around 8:40 or so. During that time, the Quests tab was there. They were broadcasting streamers before the main stream (horrible lag) and again beginning at 9pm Eastern, but the Quests tab wasn't available for those.

Yup, caught them during the streamers. Just thought it was odd that the quest tab was missing rather than always present with a message that the quest was over.

Speaking of Gears, I'm gonna miss Luck of the Draw. I got the play 2 and 15 kills objectives done quickly, but kept ending up on the losing team and only got two wins the night I was able to play. Saw it was still up Monday night and played it some more hoping that they had extended the timing since reaching objectives usually ends with the event. In eight games I got my five wins and six MVPs with one 2nd place. I'm not that guy. I generally am a top three scorer and nab an mvp every so often and sometimes go on runs, but not like that.

It's only hit $30 once? I feel like I've seen it there a few times. Even at the full $60, I'd much rather pay that than the more than double that price that I paid to play it earlier. I'd probably feel a lot less CAG guilt paying the full price if I had actually played it with at least one other person regularly rather than solo or matchmaking for everything.

The great thing about Sea of Thieves is they will constantly be adding new stuff to it.

The other thing is it's on Gamepass so I didn't blow $60 on it.

Was fun the brief time I spent with it (outside of not being able to log in) but once I read It's basically non-stop skeleton hunting and/or treasure hunting and/or cargo deliveries for leveling and cosmetics I decided to stop playing it.

Hopefully they add Sea of Thieves BATTLESHIP! or drinking contests or some crazy stuff to get me interested in it again.

I will say the sailing felt great! The water is gorgeous and you feel like a pirate. But it plays like a early access game, content wise.

Playing crackdown 1 on BC, took me a while to get going but it's a fun title, went 9 years between achievements in this game, longest time difference for me
I cleared out the first island and started on the second about 2 weeks ago and really just can't get into it. I tried Crackdown 2 in the past and didn't get even this far along. I just hate the platforming, map/gps and check point system. Trying to find my way back to where I died is such a PIA,. Trying to figure out how to get to the top of most supply depots so I can unlock a respawn place close to where I want to be is annoying.

I really like open world games but guess this one isn't for me.

As others have said glad there are tons of different styles of games. Something for everyone.

I Totally forgot about that game until today and never hear any news of it and for a game that is trying to become one of those long term games through updates and events, it sure seems to have fallen off the radar especially after so many people bought it.
I played it for 2 or 3 months pretty much daily on PS4. Got bored with it like I did with the first Destiny. Probably pick it back up at some point. Maybe when the next expansion comes out. It is a great social game IMO but if your friends are playing other stuff it is a bit boring by yourself. The 3 or 4 guys I was playing with all started playing other stuff more. Sounds like maybe Sea of Thieves is similar?

Saw a post from someone who supposedly worked on SoT earlier. They said they were surprised that the game released at $60 as the original plan was for it to be $20 with microtransactions at launch. He didn't have any proof though so take it with a grain of salt.

With how light SoT is on content, and State of Decay 2 actually being a $30 release, it now seems odd that these are two of the three games they're putting all the marketing into. The state of exclusives is just about as dire as it has been for the past year.

Not sure what's so odd about it, they're 2 of the 4 games that we know Xbox had for awhile now. Only other 2 I know of is the Ori sequel and Crackdown 3. Sounds like there are a couple "console first launches" coming out of the Game Developers Conference this week and the long in gestation game "Below" is there and after delay after delay they said they weren't bringing it out again until it's close to release.

I think the more disappointing thing with the state of the Xbox is when they miss out on so many 3rd party exclusives more so than 1st party. Last year was pretty bad in particular would love to play Nier, Nioh, or some Yakuza.

I drank grog on sot. Then our captain went full on sailing and the waves were rough. My guy got sick and was throwing up every where. It was leaving a green slime splatter everywhere and my screen kept spinning. I then decided it was my goal in life to try to paint as much as our ship green with my puke.

Then our boat sank since I was in charge of patching holes and bailing water. I was to busy trying to get as much throw up on the ship that I could.

Probably shouldnt have drank the grog...

Yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me. My pirate looks like a fat hulk hogan. He even comes with the yellow hulk mustache

Guess no BC announcement today. :(
Hardly surprising. Every single time MS announces or launches soothing, BC takes a back seat.

Back in June of last year we went 3 weeks in a row without BC because Beam turned into Mixer, then it was E3 and then the week after E3. And it will happen again on the week of May 21-25 with State of Decay 2.

Anyone else redeem gems for a Microsoft giftcard and not get the points added to your account? I redeemed for it a little over a week ago.
haven't had trouble with it so far. they didn't go into the total to be deposited or they weren't deposited into your xbox account so you can spend them? If its they weren't deposited so you can spend them, they only do deposits on the 15th and 30th of each month

I wasn't sure if the gems rewards were a separate thing then the normal Xbox rewards. Guess I'll see at the end of the month.
