Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

So this is my final wishlist for :360: games from the Spring Sale.  Anyone see anything on here that I should NOT consider?

You can skip Homefront. I Can't imagine any life on the online multiplayer (if you were interested in that) and the campaign is just typical copied Call of Duty based campaign without all the big set pieces and super forgettable characters and story.

You are absolutely right in that there is no life in the Homefront multiplayer anymore...because servers have been offline for a good many years now (5+). Back in the day, it was great, though. (Single player was definitely lacking.)

My prediction for Xbox Backwards Compatibility update in the new Xbox Video:

Original Xbox Games are all going to Xbox Game Pass, they announce 5 more BC titles for Original Xbox and all of those plus the ones already out are all going to Game Pass.

My theory on them getting rid of Xbox Live Rewards is also to help Game Pass. If they give us less rewards and digital currency easily, it makes Game Pass an even better value. That is probably why they phoned in this Spring Sale too. If they make older games really cheap, the value of Game Pass goes down since more people will buy them.

It’s just theory, but I think it makes business sense for them.

Is the single player not even worth $2? :)

Alright RBK, Darthziggy, and Ubiguetous. I'll send out the friend requests later. Gonna be brutal but fun! Also I don't have a mic :(
Sorry, wasn’t on tonight, but will probably be around tomorrow and Wednesday evenings. Also, no worries on mic. And to whoever was asking about the 360 version, I’m down to help with that whenever if needed. Seriously, I have a problem when it comes to ODST.

I Got it for a penny. I Think I got my money's worth. Take that for what you will.

Regardless, I'm right and that's all that matters!

Pretty tempted to trade in the regular version of forza7 , and assassin's creed origins to get the digital gold edition. If I do, I will probably trade in a few others like assassin's creed syndicate because it's supposed to be one of the gold games this month.

that makes some sense, some pretty big titles that were left out of the OG xbox back compat run so far, my dream though is we figured out how to put achievements in them like Sony did with PS2 classics

i have a feeling MW2 is coming to BC soon
If by SoonTM you mean within 2 1/2 years I agree.

MW2 will be BC a year or so after the remastered edition is out on the market.

There were so many leaks of MW2 remaster being SP only and I'd imagine with the backlash they will go ahead with the MP included as DLC out this holiday or next.

I played LATE SHIFT via Game Pass and found it to be pretty enjoyable. The acting and production values were surprisingly all top notch. I went in expecting a revival of old Sega CD campy FMV games. Definitely worth playing if you have Game Pass, unless you really dislike FMV games, since it's not really a game and more of an interactive movie.

I highly recommend playing it blindly with no guides or walkthroughs the first time. There are 7 very different endings, so if you're disappointed on the one you get, you can watch the rest of them on YouTube. There is at least one happy ending should you get one of the really depressing ones, like I did the first time.

TrueAchievements has a walkthrough that easily lets you mop up all the achievements later on and 'cheat' getting all endings on one playthrough.

I was super impressed with this as well!! Totally enjoyed it. I'm not a fan of Telltale games because the pacing can be too slow at times and their "games" put me to sleep, so I thought this might be similar. Boy was I wrong. It was so enjoyable and so well made. I replayed and made different choices just to see what the possible outcomes might be.

So super old news I'm sure but very mixed feelings on Pinball FX now. Saw the stuff on sale that was ending and thought I would grab some of it. Realize I already owned like 2/3s of it but that in this transition to another new version they've left some of the licensed tables behind (understandable since it's licensing but still sucks when you've paid for them and they're now in an old version) but then also there's tables I want that used to be available stand alone in the previous versions that are now bundle only but I already own the rest of what they're bundled with. Puts a damper on my enthusiasm to throw money at them.

just go to your manage game tab the tables will be there. They just bundled them together in the new version

I picked up Homefront for $2. If the multiplayer is dead we can just go in and shoot each other to clear out any mp related achievements.

If the servers were open you and I could go in and shoot each other for achievements because I burned $2 on home front. Guess that's what I get for not asking.

That being the case ...

Why are physical copies of Alice Madness Returns $30+ but digital is on sale for $5. Is it worth it?

It already went for $20+ before it went BC, and the digital version almost never went on sale until recently post-BC. Seems like backwards compatibility has made it more sought-after, which is pretty interesting. People like owning stuff, there'll always be a market for hard copies of games.

This seems to be the psychology driving the market for vinyl records while digital music continues to become more portable and accessible. Vinyl meets the need for physical, touchable, seeable, real goods we can horde and show off. Don't get me wrong, I still horde digital media. Otherwise, I wouldn't have a video game backlog or thousands of mp3's I've probably never even listened to.

Alice the madness returns is soooo worth the $5
I bought it years ago when it was new and actually completed it. I have since sold my physical copy for digital because someone really wanted to collect the disc and case . The used price has drooped some, I remember seeing it as high as $48

Speaking of $5 games check out Mad Max, I think it's still $5?

Indeed. I'm trying to have less material possessions, so cheap digital games are great for me. Same with MP3s. I love that my music and game collection gets larger but doesn't take up more physical space.

I can't bring myself to drop $60 on a digital game, though. I've been in broke student mode but your analogy is apt, I used to be records all the time and may start again once I graduate. MP3s are convenient, CDs are worthless IMHO, but records have nice big artwork and you do feel like you 'own' it in a way you don't on iTunes.

Also just noticed you can download the original American McGee's Alice that was ported from PC to xbox 360 for free. So you get part 1 & 2 for $5. You can add the dlc for $2 more.

Apparently new copies of American McGee's Alice on PC can sell in the range of $100 - $200, used for about $100. Seems to have is own cult following with the associated collectors that many cult followings have.

After reading up some more on American McGee's Alice, and its sequel Alice Madness Returns, it seems this is a dark, macabre, 10 year post Lewis Carroll story. Sounds like a definite buy for me.

I know the broke student lifestyle myself. Didn't acquire much physical stuff while I was in grad school, but now that school is starting to pay off I have to keep reminding myself that I don't need to buy everything.

Back when pc games had regular physical releases I'm guessing?
It's not my typical type of game, but it's just so different and kind of trippy. I say go for it.
Deus ex human revolution is 2.74 I think and Fable 3 is another to check out on sale.

Why do they waste time with things like AC Black Flag? I’m sure anyone who wanted to play it would already have the X1 version.

Also, Divinity II is on sale for $7.49 currently. Is it any good?

If you like flawed PC styled open-world RPGs then yes you will like it. I loved it albeit I played it a few years ago. Expect some wonky frame-rates, clunky interface at times, but its large in scope, I found the quests a lot of fun, plus you get to turn into a massive dragon

It's my only game from Game pass added this month that I put more then 2 hours into so far. Sadly the lack of a re-wind/chapter selection hurts the replay value a lot. It kinda sucks to go through the same movie over and over just to reach the different conclusions. But for a old Sega CD like FMV game it is pure awesomeness. Other downside being the stutters after choices.

Divinity 2 Dragon Saga was a decent RPG if I rememeber correctly playing it on the 360. I'll have to give it another whirl this weekend and see how It plays/how it aged.

I maintain that on principle, any game that can be backwards compatible should be. Black Flag is certainly one that most people either have or have already played but the more options folks have the better.

Agreed, though when things have slowed considerably and there's significant games still waiting for support it would be nice if it felt like their priorities were in the right place.

Definitely play the game without a guide. The game is so short anyways that giving it another run through for a different ending is not a big deal.

If you guys really liked this style of game then check out The Bunker. It's by the same developers and set in a post apocalyptic scenario. Has been on sale a few times on both Xbox and PC in the past.

I anxiously await impressions of Tera - especially as to how well it plays Solo.

As someone that has finally tried an MMO - in my case, the enjoyable Elder Scrolls Online - I have wondered what other games in the genre I should dip my toe into next.

Speaking of selling the physical copy, it trades into GS at 16.80/15.40/14 for elite/pro/regular. Just a heads up.

I have not purchased black flag yet, so it’s nice to have an option. Is it a game that I should just play the X1 version?

For AC 2 I looked at the exit collection and it didn’t seem that great as x1 version so I went w the cheap x360 version
