Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I got a thing of Monster screen cleaner with microfiber cloth and it works great on my 9500. I accidentally got handprints when putting the stand on. I got it on clearance so price isn't helpful, and bottle says "proprietary polymers" so that's not helpful either. But it's entirely likely there's another product that will do it.
The Samsung instructions for care mentions this cleaner I think so I may go this route.

Incoming mini-blog, but in my defense, it's all based on discounted XBL games:

Shame on any of you that recommended Firewatch.  Completely unimpressed.  Firewatch and Gone Home spoilers below.

These two games are so similar, I'm surprised they weren't made by the same team.
Incredible build up, amazing atmosphere, can't stop playing.... only to have absolutely NO payoff in the end in both cases.

Gone Home:

Set up:  Abandoned/Possibly Haunted House oozing with atmosphere.  Where are your parents?  Where is your sister?  They just disappeared!!!

Payoff:  Lol, no.  You parents are at a couples' retreat, and your sister ran off with her girlfriend.  Nothing mysterious to see here.  Move along.

FIrewatch:

Set up:  Missing Teenagers/Government Conspiracy oozing with atmosphere.  What happened to those girls??  Is this some sort of sick government test to spy on people in isolation???

Payoff:  Lol, no.  The teens are fine.  They are arrested a few days later for stealing a tractor.  No government conspiracy either, just a lonely man in the woods who has been listening in on your radio frequency.

Seriously.  F these games.  If I want to play a game where absolutely nothing interesting happens and I just walk around, then I'll just get up and walk around.

Honestly, though, these games just aren't for me.  I'm done with walking simulators.  I understand why some people like them, I do.  But I've never left one with any feeling other than disappointment.

Finished Just Cause 3 XL, which I recently bought on sale, with all achievements over the weekend.  Good, clean fun.  Not amazing, pretty repetitive.  But I knew what I was getting when I bought it.

Bought Full Metal Furies just to support the team.  I will try it with the wife some day, but first we have to finish A Way Out.  We only get time to play together like 2 hours a week.  I may just say "f it" and play FMF without the wife.  Heard its better in co-op, but I really wanna try this one out.

Lastly, played Okami HD for the first time last night.  Bought it a couple sales ago.  I am immediately charmed by this game.  It's so freaking Japanese, I can't believe it even made it to the US.  I am very impressed by it, and the art style is unlike anything I've ever played.  Excited to keep playing.

Blah. I want to pull the trigger on the evil within digital bundle. BUT as a person that usually plays a game and trades it in, I get worried about buying digital.

If the game has replay value or the DLC is really worth it then ok. Any thoughts? Or should I just wait for the evil within 1/2 digital bundle :p

Walking simulators with easy achievements are ok when they are free with gold, got all 1000 in gone home in 58 minutes, deleted and never thought about again

I'm just like you but I switched to digital recently because sometimes I would buy games multiple times after trading them in.

If a game is cheap enough digitally I just buy it in thinking that if I was to rent it, it would cost me $x or if I were to buy a physical copy again how much would it cost. Like I rented Witcher 3 several times when it came out, bought it on sale, traded it in, bought complete edition for $20, traded it in, then bought digitally over the Christmas sale. It ends the vicious cycle.

When the price is low enough I like buying it digital and having it forever. It eliminates those variables.

Someone earlier was asking about the latest deus ex. I bought it a while back and have really enjoyed the series so far. I'm pretty sure that if I can get the download of the bc version before the sale ends, I will get it too.
I would recommend getting it for that price.

I'm still undecided myself on the ultimate edition of Forza 7. Any thoughts ?

Honestly, if you want a Motorsport game, get Forza 6. Forza 7 has a couple decent things going for it, but for fun, get 6. Turn 10 locked too many good cars behind artificial barriers (“beat these challenges to win this car”, etc). Plus, if you can get Forza 6 with both expansions (Porsche and NASCAR), you have all the good tracks that are in 7.

Agreed I'm a fan of all things Forza but 7 is kind of set if to be micro transaction city. Every level up I had to choose between a car, driver suit, or mod cards to earn more money. They also lowered the driver level bonus to $20,000 per level where I think 6 was $35,000.

Hopefully they restock the 5000 and 10000 rewards credits before death. As is, I have enough for 5000, but will resort to the Warframe Platinum if I need to. I'm close to having enough gems for 10000 credits, but I don't know if I'll be able to get like 50 in 7 weeks.
Be careful with the platinum. I thought the same about the fallout shelter lunchboxes but when I went to redeem the second code I got a "you already own this product" notification so i wasted the gems and just gave the code away.

Thank you for the donation of the unusable code.

ubi & darthzig, you guys down to odst tonight? Around say 9 or so and play for a little longer? I forgot who said they wanted to play too so send me a pm with your gt if you want to get on

The only way that happened was you played through it with a guide from the beginning and didn't even try to enjoy the story. So congrats I guess.

Stupid question time.  When do last week sales go away and this week sales start?  Going to pick up some XBL credit tonight but not sure I will be able to get it before store updates.  Is there some over lap or do the old sales die at like 7pm Eastern and the new ones start then?

The old sales go into early morning (3AM-ish), so there is a lot of overlap.

The only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked

I know it's not cool to ask about Call of Duty, but if I'm considering BLOPS III just so me and my son can play against bots, is the bundle with the season pass worth it? My gut says hell no and that the cheaper edition with the zombie chronicles is fine but figured I'd see if there were any opinions.

Still my favorite call of duty. The call is yours because if you play multiplayer versus bots then you'll want the version with the season pass. Otherwise zombie Chronicles will keep you busy for a really long time. Me and my buddies still play it weekly.

Should be good around then. If we can’t find a 4th I may have a buddy who can join but we will see when we get on.

Edit: also got my February reward today, one month of Gold as well. I had been bugging them since last week though because someone on their forum said I didn’t complete the quest (2 achievements in any GwG from that month) but I said I had and gave a date. No reply but got the reward today ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At the xbox booth at PAX I played Ashen, Below and Descender. Below was my favorite even though I don't play a ton of rogue likes. I died twice while playing, don't know if there was a time limit or anything to the demo, just played until I didn't want to spoil much. Ashen was okay, I haven't played Dark Souls and that was what it was compared to. The person I was playing with and I both died before the end of the demo which resets the demo so I didn't play the whole thing. Descender was not great, it was just downhill dirt biking; the level I played was fun to goof around in but I probably wouldn't pay more than $5 for it.

Was surprised the line for Sea of Thieves was usually 90+ minutes long. If I wanted to play it I would use the free gamepass trial or just pay $10 for a month.

Just signed into Call of Duty Black Ops 3 and had 6 or 7 Gears of War 4 campaign achievements randomly pop wtf

http://www.kotaku.co.uk/2018/04/09/some-of-gta-ivs-music-licenses-expire-later-this-month-and-songs-will-be-removed

Might want to get the BC "update" downloaded if you have GTA IV. No news on how this is going to affect Xbox or PC yet, though I assume we'll get the same treatment PS3 does. PC will likely be updated to remove the music like San Andreas was. PS3 got a weird workaround so maybe we don't have to worry.

"There's also something interesting happening beforehand. GTAIV owners on PlayStation 3 will, at some point before 26th April, receive system messages prompting them to download digital versions of the songs. I'm not entirely sure what kind of rights management juggling is going on here, but this will apparently let players keep the tunes in their PS3 copy of the game. It is unclear whether Xbox and PC players will have the same option, and if it will disappear on or after 26 April 2018 (as seems likely). "

Was there a pin given away for playing it there?
I know state of decay had 3 pins of the same design but different colors. There was also a pin by the Below kiosk but I was given the same pin for playing Ashen, so I don't know which game it was for. All I saw for sea of thieves was a comic book and 1 month of game pass for playing the demo. I just asked someone working if I could have a copy of the comic and he came back with the comic and an eye patch.

Here's to hoping there's something good in tonight's sale. I put away twenty bucks thinking I'd pick up something in the spring sale but there's just nothing I don't already own that's catching my eye. Was considering either the Bioshock Collection or the Darksiders Collection but I already have all those games (360 versions) and have not played more than ten minutes in each one. Was also thinking about Gears4 but again, I own all the 360 titles and the One version of Gears1 and have not really ever played any of them.

I'm not entirely sure what kind of rights management juggling is going on here, but this will apparently let players keep the tunes in their PS3 copy of the game. It is unclear whether Xbox and PC players will have the same option, and if it will disappear on or after 26 April 2018 (as seems likely). "
So will this only apply to downloads after April 26, or will there be a patch issued to remove songs? I'm of the opinion that if it was purchased before the license expired, they shouldn't remove anything.

However, I'd much prefer they patch it out than completely delist it, which is what a lot of publishers end up doing.

I got 20 left as well. Was thinking some combination of: Homefront, Return to Arkham, Agents of Mayhem. Was also thinking Far Cry 4, since I never did finish it on the ps4.

Bought all of those in previous sales lol, that's why I'm having a tough time with what's left that I don't have already. Return to Arkham is def worth it. Can't go wrong with the Mayhem and Homefront bundles either.

I’m kinda leaning against Arkham, since I’ve beaten both of those before. I also heard the port isn’t exactly the greatest since they moved it to a UE4.

For ten bucks though...lol. But yeah if you played them before, I hadn't so for the price per game in it it's hard not to buy it.
