thank you. that's a lot more reasonable. ordered a deluxe and a soft cover.

It looks like the Bloodborne guide is getting reprinted. Great opportunity to pick it up if you missed the original release. 3rd party prices have been steadily climbing over the last year.

https://www.amazon.com/Bloodborne-Collectors-Strategy-Guide-Future/dp/3869930691/ref=la_B0042SSY5E_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1489685977&sr=1-3
fuck yeah !!! I have been waiting for this. Unreal.

I've always thought It was weird how strategy guides never get reprinted. Guess 98% of the time they make enough units on the first run.

Nice update from Future Press on the Horizon Zero Dawn guide (click the link for pics): https://www.facebook.com/FuturePress/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED

The first batch of Horizon Zero Dawn Collector’s Edition Guides are in transit to retailers now! We needed a little extra time for last minute changes to the game, and because we really wanted to make sure we deliver the promises we made in the book description. Oh, and the page count has increased by about 100 pages (since Bruce wanted to show a screenshot of every single datapoint and Jörg thought some images are too cool not to be shown). And if the writing team at Guerrilla Games offer to write an entire Story & Characters section exclusively for our guide, who can say no to that?

The book ended up with 656 pages and we’ve added a bookmark ribbon as a little incentive to thank you guys for your patience. Some of you should receive the guide this week, others will have to wait a few more days – please hold on!

To celebrate the imminent release, we have a little preview of some selected pages for you. Believe us, we’ve put quite some work into this one, so we really hope it’s worth the wait for every one of you.

Got my HZD guide from Amazon last night. That thing is massive. Comparable to the complete Skyrim one in size.

Now Future Press needs to just hurry up and finish the Nioh guide and Last Guardian book.

I'm jealous! I know I pre-ordered mine late but I got an email estimating my delivery between the end of April and the end of May

Yeah, I'm trying to cut down on guides that I never actually use, but I saw all the stuff that they added to it, so went to Amazon to look. Currently estimating 1-2 months.

I think the four biggest guides I've seen recently have been Witcher 3 Complete Edition, HZD, Mass Effect Andromeda and the remastered Skyrim.

The Borderlands 2 GOTY has been a pretty hefty one from the past, as well as Fallout 3 GOTY. I'd bet we'll have Fallout 4 GOTY as some point in the future, maybe this fall?

Future Press just posted an update about the Bloodborne reprint. It's a revised edition to account for various patches and has some updated enemy strategies. Comes out 4/30.

https://www.amazon.com/Bloodborne-Collectors-Strategy-Guide-Future/dp/3869930691/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1491589825&sr=8-1&keywords=bloodborne+guide

As many of you know, our original Bloodborne guide has been sold out for many months and market prices got pretty steep for it. We don’t want marketsellers to earn a fortune by ripping off fellow Bloodborne fans, so we looked into the potential demand and decided for a final reprint of one of the best books we’ve ever created.

Since the game has received a few patches since its original release, we took the chance to update it where it was necessary. Additionally, we teamed up with challenge master LobosJR to see if our original enemy strategies still stand the test of time—he revised them to include some of his favorite strategies against bosses and other tougher enemies. Thanks to him, that chapter is as useful as it was back in 2015.

So, here you go! This is a fully updated version of our original guide and you can get it one last time for the original retail price of $34.99. We strongly suggest that you pre-order this beauty now since it’s just a small print run and who knows how quick it’s going to be sold out again.

And thanks much to everyone who wrote one of the 500+ reviews at Amazon! The book received an average of 4.8 out of 5, which makes us very proud.

Anyone know what is going on with the NIOH collectors edition guide? First it was delayed and now when I click on my amazon preorder I get a SORRY WE COULDN'T FIND THAT PAGE.

I'm pretty sure someone posted a few weeks back that it was cancelled. I don't believe a reason was given either, but it probably got to far past release to matter.

I also posted this in the CE thread, but some may not be following that one

ETA: They're going to announce a couple other titles over the next couple weeks. One is likely going to be Dark Souls Remastered

Future Press@FuturePress

Just to put you guys at ease, we have something cooking on the bonfire!

9:59 AM - Jan 17, 2018

I can't remember, but did they do the guide for Dark Souls originally? I remember having to write up an entire guide that flowed far better than whatever crap that was IIRC (it might have been for the second game? IDK). If that's the case, I hope they're doing a complete re-write versus a re-release.

Last edited by a moderator:
Yeah. I think part of the problem with DS was that subsequent patches changed statistics enough to invalidate part of the guide. Hopefully that gets corrected.

I'm still hoping that Bayonetta gets a reprint now that the game is coming to a more popular Nintendo console.

Yeah, the Bayonetta guide is for sure deserving of a reprint. I bought mine right before it went OOP(or maybe even after), so the price was still decent at the time.

The Ni No Kuni II guide is up at Amazon for anyone interested.

Also got my Zelda guide in the mail yesterday. Just a couple days ago I got an email saying it was delayed and then a shipping notification shortly after.

Looks like the Ni No Kuni II guide is delayed. It was supposed to release on 3/31 and I just got an Amazon email saying release date now unknown and did I want to cancel my order.

Is that the CE, or the standard? I have the CE on order, and I didn't get a delay notice(yet), and it shows April 30th as the release date on mine. Of course that may change, I'll update if it does.

There isn't a standard Edition. All the press releases and articles stated it was coming a week after the games release on 3/30. That's the date Amazon had it listed as. After the email I got yesterday now they changed the date to 4/30 so another month which is ridiculous for a strategy guide.

Yeah, sadly these delays are becoming trends(the CE mostly), as I don't know when and where these companies get there source materials, but that seems to be why the delays keep happening. Some of these games are HUGE, and to do a proper guide, it takes time. I agree, months after release are a waste, but I thin they figure CE = not using(keeping sealed), so they don't seem to care much.

I am still hoping out hope that Nioh gets some sort of updated version of the game with all DLC and they make a hardcover guide for it.  Loved that game so much.

Funny reading this a year later with the BB guide still in stock at Amazon.

Has the Ni No Kuni 2 guide been canceled? Now shows as “not yet released” on amazon. That and not existing at Best Buy nor GameStop makes me believe it’s never coming out. And what’s the point if it does months or years after release?

You can preorder it though. I'm not sure of the business sense of releasing a guide a month after the game's release but it still looks like it's coming out.

Just a heads up to anyone mulling this guide. The original Dark Souls received a massive patch early on after US game release to reduce the excessive grind. It made a lot of the information provided in the original guide incorrect (soul amounts rec'd, some enemy locations). Even if you're not getting the remastered game, this could still be useful.

For some reason, Future Press guides rarely come out when the game releases. It's almost like they want to wait for some of the initial patches to come out before printing.

Yeah, I've always looked at their delays as a a company who takes pride in their product, and wants to offer the best guides possible. Prima is probably the most well known guide company, and they always release by launch, but their guides come no where close to Futures quality.

It sucks for those who want to play a game at launch, but for a guy like me who rarely(if ever), plays a game at launch, I'm happy to wait for a much better quality end product.

On average Future is better but when Prima puts effort into it they have made good guides. I just read this as Future basically knows their main market are people who collect higher quality guides, don't even often use them, and know Future's brand integrity to be more consistant.

Yeah, Prima has some good guides for sure, as they have gotten much better in recent years. Sadly, it's still a very "hit or miss" type situation, but it's for sure less bleak than it once was. LOL

And since 99.9% of all their guides are ready at launch, I can't argue with them not being so great from time to time. As there's no telling how much is involved from start to finish for these guides, and it may be like moving heaven & earth to make a launch window.

HIGHLY debating on just cancelling my GoW CE and getting the vanilla copy.  I wish Sony had done just an artbook/steelbook bundle for like $70 bucks instead of two separate statue bundles.  Chances are the statue is gonna look like complete shit lol

I cancelled mine because it's going to much cheaper to buy the SB on ebay and I don't care about any of the digital stuff.

Are people genuinely excited for the new GoW? I mean, it got old for me after the second game and obviously this is a complete revamp but it looks too Uncharted, Last of Us, Horizon. . .and on and on. A little too formulaic IMO.

For Prima, it's David Hodgson or bust.

I am immensely.

Luckily I have a buddy over at Sony Santa Monica and can grab the game for dirt cheap from him.

I think it looks really, really good--albeit super Last Of Us inspired. At the same time, though, I really lament the death of another spectacle fighter. The genre is barely on life support, and one of its largest franchises has now returned to the spotlight in a different genre.

One of those don't really belong in the same category, IMO.

Tomb Raider is much more scripted than Horizon ZD.

Funny story; in my late 20's I was going to my first E3 and was on the bus from the hotel headed to the conference and didn't have this bus pass they were handing out to make sure only E3 attendees were getting on the transfer bus. I sat down and started talking to this guy who was working on a guide for KOTOR and working on site at Bioware because RPG guides necessitated it.. When they were asking for passes I mentioned I never received one and when they started kicking me off the bus this guy starts fighting with the staff in my defense because I was (and still am) a bit of the pushover type. After making a bit of a scene he saw they weren't going to budge so I went in to get a pass but met up with him the next couple of days when he was free to chat for a bit. It was David Hodgson, and at the time I was indifferent because as a dev I never really cared about the whole guide side of things. It was funny picking up guides later in life for the big RPGs like Oblivion, Witcher, etc. and seeing how he became revered as the best guide writer to the point of getting immortalized in the Witcher 3. It's always a fond E3 memory of mine though because he was such a standup guy as well.
