Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I'm Rick James!!!!!

So the games counting down to 58 days in the spoiler will be on sale on 10/31.  At first I thought games with gold, but there are 3 xbox one games.

Which version of Dark Souls would make the most sense for a new player: Dark Souls Remastered or Dark Souls 3?

There's something to be said for starting at the beginning.  But perhaps picking the series up with its latest innovations (?) would make sense, too.

Also considering Little Nightmares Complete and Get Even:)

Start at 1. 3 has callbacks to it that you'll enjoy more in order. Remastered had a few small quality of life tweaks inspired by the later games.

"proved the haters wrong" is pretty funny. What did they prove exactly, that they can arbitrarily throw up a version 1.0? At least it coincided with a bunch of new stuff on Xbox I guess. I've had fun with PUBG but the devs have proven they don't really know what they're doing, or are simply too greedy to give a shit.

This series I would suggest starting at 1. They alter combat based on how people played in earlier part of series.

Plus 1 has amazing level design :)

Don’t be afraid about asking a friend of guide for help. The game gives so little guidance. If the decision is between stop playing or look it up, just look up. That way you don’t miss out on the rest of game

If nothing else a guide can help direct you inbolay order. The game doesn’t really tell you which way to go very often

Little Nightmares is great, Get Even is definitely good at that price i think it's a hidden gem

when a game is counting down 27 days which would be October 1st, does that mean future GWG?

I think it depends on how you intend to play. If you want the challenge of tackling every area and boss solo, I'd recommend DSR. There are more options available to you and figuring out where to go and what to do can be as big of a challenge as the enemies and environments themselves. The PvP is garbage and will probably turn you off DSPvP for years.

If you have friends to co-op with, or suspect you might want to summon help for bosses (or offer yourself as a summon to practice), then you will have to open yourself to pvp in either game. DSR you can only open yourself to summon help at the bonfire, and will consume resources if you die on the way to the boss. In DS3, you can do this right at the boss door if you want maximum avoidance. You should also keep in mind that both games were designed around the internet, so they expect you to look for player messages or read guides if you get stuck. That's also why summoning co-op help prioritizes invaders.

DS3 pvp is dominated by the two-hit auto stagger combo that encourages quick weapons with decent reach - ie straight and curved swords. This limits weapon/playstyle variety at the top level of 1v1 duels, but there is more to the pvp than just that. Invaders are always going to be experienced players, sometimes they will just run in, one shot you, and then point down, but you have a far better chance of learning your own way up in DS3 PvP than in the non-stop backstabs and magic spam in DSR. Not that DS3 doesn't have that, but it's less punishing and easier to escape follow up attacks. DS3 the much more popular game, with a larger community of helpers and gankers to color your experience.

DS3 is a more linear experience with fewer branching paths than DSR, but there are a lot of improvements to the gameplay and weapon variety that overall rank it as the better game to me. DS3 repeats characters and locations from DSR, but I always saw the games as Zelda like so I didn't care that they rehash the same lava level and dragon boss every time. It's a uniquely rewarding experience to open shortcuts connecting the various areas of DSR to each other, but the gameplay really shows its age and the less said about Lost Izalith the better.

TL/DR: DS3.

Funny, I feel the complete opposite. EA Access seems like 50% sports games, which don't interest me but is certainly subjective. Game Pass has a lot of indie games that interest me but I would not usually pay money for. between that and all first party titles going to Game Pass now, the only advantage to me with EA access is that it is significantly cheaper.

I don't play sports games much, but a big perk of EA Access for me is I always have fairly new versions of them if friends want to play or I want to mess around with them for a bit. And $30/year ($25 when I find a deal)is a perfect price point for me.

Speaking of Game Pass, Skyforce Reloaded also got added this weekend. I got hooked on SF Anniversary last winter between semesters, and just spent way longer than I care to admit glued to Reloaded.

If you like perfectionist arcade style games, you've been warned.

Why would something get delisted, and then brought back?

Oh wait, we are talking about Disney here. Would they treat video games like “the vault”?

Could that mean they would do that to marvel games?
I’d say it’s always a possibility. Remember what just happened with Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Probably not, but one can hope. I suggested the same when I noticed State of Decay was counting down to October 1 last week. There were a number of Game Pass titles counting down to Sep 1, and nothing happened with them. It might be related to that, with some quirk having them get recycled in the system or something. State of Decay, NBA Playgrounds and Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell are in Game Pass. F1 2018 is not, F1 2015 is. The 58 day countdowns (Halo Wars : Definitive, Sky Force Anniversary, Escapists) are also Game Pass and are targeting November 1. October 1 also happens to be a Monday, so it could be a sale.

Browsing through my achievements and noticed FFXV is listed as the Windows Edition. Anybody else play the Xbox version and it shows Windows now?

Got the Don't Starve Mega Bundle and the Path to War Red Faction DLC so far...unsure about Impact Winter, ABC Murders, Sheltered and Beholder...also Battle Chaser looks nice..

ahh the old lazy devs cynical thing. Actually 1.0 on the Xbox has a ton to offer so far. I've pretty much moved from Xbox to PC more for squads with friends than anything, but don't believe this kid's hype. Making games isn't easy and he doesn't know any more than the devs.

Nah, it's likely license renewal for publishing and distribution, depending on how contracts are written. Same with GTA4 patching out music 10 years after the fact, since if they didn't, they would either have to pay more money in licensing fees, or more likely, cease digital distribution.

Sega and Disney must have worked something out. Activision had more or less a blanket license for Marvel properties which ended in 2014 and is why games like Deadpool got delisted. They seem to still have a business relationship since Activision is publishing the PS4 Spider-Man game, but it seems to be on a title by title basis now.

Plus doesn't Sony have the spider man movie rights?

Sony is publishing it and Insomniac is the developer.

Sony has a long-term claim on movie rights, which is why the MCU Spider-Man is in collaboration with Sony. Their movie contract has nothing to do with videogames, although they are definitely benefiting from the brand/license association.

Marvel contacted Sony and said "We want you to publish a Marvel game and treat it with the budget and care you would any other first party title." Sony chose Insomniac games, and Insomniac asked to make a Spider-Man game.

Been so long since I touched Destiny 2 that I didn’t even realize that Forsaken isn’t in the SP. Oh well, not getting more money from me at this point.

I knew I wasn't going to get the expansion so I had casually played through the other DLCs just once since it was already (stupidly) paid for. Never bothered to get fully leveled up or anything.

I think it'll be interesting to see what business model they take with D3. Every game is launching with free DLCs now. The Division 2 will have free story DLCs. Anthem announced they'll have free story DLCs. Battlefield is doing away with their season pass. Halo has been giving away free updates already.

I read somewhere else that it was the quid-pro-quo part of the deal between Sony and Disney/Marvel and maybe a one-off. Disney gets to use Spider-Man in the MCU, Sony gets to make an exclusive Spider-Man game. Could be wrong though but it would make sense.

That may have been part of the final arrangement when they were figuring it out, but it was Insomniac that asked to make a Spidey game.

All I know is, I want to play it and currently can't.
