Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

The 4th star comes without the DLC btw :), the new recipes are fun? It looked like it adds smoothies which I think is the first drink, and a water gun to clean the dishes?
Awh, my mistake. But I still think it's worth getting. Its only 12ish levels, but the water gun is a lot of fun. And the BBQ Bellows also is pretty entertaining. Kebabs are a new recipe too.

RDR2 averaging over 98% on reviews so far for those that care about such things. I can't imagine that swaying anyone at this point though as you should've known by now if you wanted it lol.

Having said that, obviously it's amazing but I really dislike games where you have to do tedious things and micromanage so I'm on the fence for that reason.

Only 98%?? Boo! What a piece of shit! It'd be a 100% and worth buying if they had a 100 person battle royale mode!

I'm getting the game, but I am also wary about the tedious stuff. I typically ignore all that stuff in games. I'm hoping there's an easy mode or that the tedious stuff doesn't have a huge impact (i.e., you don't necessarily have to eat 3 meals per day).

I don't understand why developers think that kind of detail is good in games. I understand the desire for games to be more realistic, but there's a point where it just becomes a pointless waste of time. I already cut my fingernails and poop in real life, I don't need to do those regularly in a game, too.

Urghhh.. just got an email that my RDR was shipped. I thought I had done instore pick up. Oh well, I’m going tonight at 9 and getting a copy. Just will return the one I get in the mail. I am not waiting until tomorrow to play this baby. :)

Showed the GF a trailer for RDR2 and now even she wants to play it (or watch me play it). I think the only way I could get it, knowing it's 50-80 hour game, is if she was also interested since it would otherwise be such a distraction.

Unrelated - anyone see the new Halloween yet? I mostly enjoyed it but there were a few plot elements that held it back / made it campier than I'd prefer.

Somehow my MS rewards streak got reset today because it thinks I didn't log in yesterday, but I did log in and did two of the three things (I skipped the four question quiz).  Is there any avenue to contact someone to have this fixed?

I've got to say every time I try to mod anything manually I'm reminded why I prefer consoles.

-Boot up New California and get massive, unplayable screen tearing, even with V-sync enabled.

-Look up fix, tweak some settings and change one character in the .ini file

-game is no longer tearing, and frame rate is floating between 80 and 90 FPS

-Bethesda's shitty engine can't deal with higher than 60 FPS, some things happen too fast if too high

-no option to lock the frame rate itself, only enable V-sync

-back to square one

-use third party graphics card software to lock FPS at 60. Game floats around 55 FPS, screen tearing back again, even with V-sync

On the plus side I got about $40 back from my local taxes, so I guess I'm getting RDR. I'm guessing Fallout 76 is going to be a shitshow at launch, so a Christmas pick up makes sense to me.

The streaks are for doing the 3 daily tasks, not for merely logging in. Also, the tasks reset at midnight local time for me, while the search counters reset a few hours later, so if you generally do things later in the evening, you could miss tasks without missing the searches.

Worth noting that the online portion of the game launches into beta in November, so we may yet get a Battle Royale mode.

Will the reviews be revised if the mode launches, accordingly? :whistle2:k

I saw it a few days ago. I'm not huge into horror movies unless they're zombie movies but I wasn't doing anything and I got invited so I figured why not. I enjoyed it. There were a few spots where I thought either the acting or something else was a bit goofy but overall had a good time.

There were a couple of moments that had me and my wife scratching our heads. And the bodycount and gore seemed a bit more in line with modern horror. Overall, though, we really dug it.

They're bringing back the "Judge, Jury and Executioner" achievement from Gears 3 (it was also in Gears 2 but as "Kick 'Em When They're Down") for performing all weapon executions on any mode.

Also another one for visiting someone your mom during the campaign (won't spoil it but I'm guessing most people here know who that is). Wonder if that one or any of the other will be retroactive.

My wife loves horror movies. We barely go to the movies anymore but I am off next week and I think she wants to go see this.

Like I mentioned, I did two of the three tasks but never got around to the third task (forgot about it). But I've watched that main page before and I've seen it update the number of days in the streak before I did any of the tasks. I'll see if I can find a support link.

Dude, the streak is for doing the tasks, not logging in. He explained it very well. You did it wrong. The rewards program has its problems and quirks, but for most people, this isn't one of them.

i'm a big fan of the series, i hated this movie

everything about it

i would only put it above Resurrection in the series, which i never even finished watching because i hated it so much

Starting 10/25, Gamestop has a new deal where you get $100 off an Xbox console if you buy Red Dead Redemption 2. I wonder if there's any chance this would stack with the trade-in special for buying an Xbox One X (which lasts through 10/28)? Probably not since it says "Cannot be combined with any other offer", but you never know what the stores will do.
I have to wait until 3 PM for the RDR2 promo, but when I stopped into Gamestop earlier this morning they seemed willing to combine these deals. If it works this will be an amazing deal for upgrading my S -> X.

Really regret getting Black Ops 4. It’s okay but just don’t play MP enough and with RDR 2 and my massive backlog ...what was I thinking?

Given some of the scattershot aspects of the rewards, it wouldn't surprise if you did see it update after only 2 tasks. I'm pretty sure I've had a streak broken where I did a new set of tasks shortly after the midnight reset, but they ended up not counting and my streak showed as broken the following day. I've been holding off on doing them until later in the day.

Though breaking a streak isn't really a big deal pointwise. You simply get 15 points x the number of days since the last bonus in the streak, there isn't a bigger bonus for keeping a longer streak going. You start with a 3 day streak, then 2 5 day streaks, then 2 7s and then 10s from there on out. The most you'd miss out on is 150 points if you miss the last day of a 10 day run.

Um, obviously you weren't thinking cheap otherwise you would've bought the game when it was $20 and thrown it into a pile and never play it.

I'm actually digging it and I don't really play the PUBG mode or Zombies, just the traditional multiplayer. I'll play 30 minutes an hour every day or two and I haven't got really annoyed yet. The healing stim is an interesting update, and not a bunch of double jumping wall running is more my style.

I've never used this site, but they have $48 Red Dead 2 shipped, if you can wait it out.

how often do you finish games? it seems like you buy every game on release day

you bought a Wii U last year right? have you touched it since then?

That's how I hoped all multiplatform comparisons would turn out when I decided to get an X last year, and they have seemed few and far between. Glad to see this.
from my memory, the majority of digital foundry/eurogamer multiplatform comparisons say xbox one x is best.

the nicest surprise is xbox one x version is NATIVE 4K

I thought 76 didnt have a campaign? I may be wrong there too...assumed they jumped on the BattleRoyale bandwagon. Oh well...
Fallout doesn't have human NPCs, but it does have non-human characters, story, and quests. It sounds like there is a main quest of some sort to work though, but I get the impression it isn't a huge focus. They're playing to their strength of environmental story-telling.

The PVP sounds near worthless from how those at the preview event described it, it isn't anywhere near a Royale mode. It's closer to combination of something like Rust or Conan Exiles, mixed with the co-op focus of Borderlands.

Nah. Don’t buy even close to every game on release day. In fact, cancelled quite a few I preordered to lock in the GCU discount but decided even with the discount I didn’t need them.

As far as the Wii U, haven’t played it as much lately but definitely have and still do on occasion.

I doubt anything will be retroactive given Gears’ reputation.

Also needs to be mentioned, 6.66 XP incoming this weekend.

The only ones I could see being retroactive are Re-Up 11, Play the Mode, Not the Player, since ring captures and breaks are in the stat tracking, and Don't Hate the Players, since the stats page is tracking 2v2 games now. Maybe Sorry, That's Never Happened to Me Before if the War Journal in-game tracks fastest rounds. That's not something on the web site.

Nothing else appears to be tied to a stat / condition that was already tracked by the game, unless that one campaign one had a collectible. IIRC, there was a collectible near the area that would trigger the achievement, but none in the achievement area itself.

I really hope I don't have to get another wings level, getting to halfway through 11 was plenty for me.

how do i check my status on where im at on the points crusader? i log in online but i dont see if anywhere
You don't have a punch cards section on your rewards page showing Wild Kingdom, Moon Gate and/or Bad Lands?

Alan Wake is back!
In POG form?

I'm at Re-Up 10, L54. Hopefully they clarify during tonight's Dev stream. Got a 3 day weekend starting tomorrow, can take in some of that 6.66x XP, except Saturday and Sunday nights.

Really looking forward to RDR2 tonight; hope the day 1 patch isn't too massive.

Also, haven't seen much mention of it, but Daredevil season 3 on Netflix is a must-watch for fans.

who has me beat?

Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to preload physical games —just with the knowledge that you couldn’t play it until you put the disc in?

I mean I can get RDR at 9 pm but it will probably be midnight before I can play it with the download. :(

I have to wait until 3 PM for the RDR2 promo, but when I stopped into Gamestop earlier this morning they seemed willing to combine these deals. If it works this will be an amazing deal for upgrading my S -> X.
Success! I turned in an Xbox One S ($250 credit) and came out with an Xbox One X, RDR2 (must pick up later or tomorrow), and State of Decay 2 for $210 + tax. The only minor downside is that you have to pay tax on $460 because of how the trade-in works. In PA my out-the-door total with tax was $242.18. Awesome deal.

Regarding the Microsoft Rewards streaks, you can set the date back on your phone to finish off the previous tasks. I've only done this for about an hour or two past midnight, so I'm not sure how long this can be done after a miss, but it is still very helpful.

Alan Wake is back!

I don't see it on Xbox though but it was $3 on Steam

so Novembers GwG?

Up until a few minutes ago, I was 100% sure Alan Wake had already been GWG but no, not yet.

My guess it could/will be GWG or added to Gamepass (don't remember if it was there before the de-listing). Though I'd love if they remaster it (or simply port the Steam version) and go the Mask of the Ninja route were anyone who owns the digital 360 version gets the remaster for $5 or even free.
