Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

I was looking at this earlier, except I wanted to use it for my PS4 Pro since I have more games on that than I do my X1X. Apparently the PS4 doesn't support these kinds of drive hubs.

As for the price, it's definitely good, except I've seen the "normal" price on Amazon is $160, so it doesn't seem as big of a savings even though the MSRP is listed as $240. But considering I septn $120 on a 4TB earlier this year, I'd definitely jump on it.
Price must have finally come down. The Xbox branded hub was always $50 more than the regular black one every time I looked. I got two of the drives that aren't xbox branded, one for my X and one for my girlfriend's S. No issues so far.

I'm trying to use available credit from redeeming Bing points in my Microsoft account balance to buy something as I have $8.01 set to expire tomorrow. However when I try to select something to purchase and it brings up the payment options, it won't let me select to pay from my Microsoft balance and strangely enough it shows $0.00 available. Any ideas what's causing that?

Outcast Second Contact looks kinda interesting, not much in the way of info on it on YouTube though.
It's an old open world PC adventure. If I was nostalgic for that era I wouldn't have gotten bored a couple hours in. (Grew up on linear and open worlds that had big ole arrows showing da way) I was interested in it but I've been on a 'if it annoys me for a bit I'll move on to the next of my back catalog' kick.

I could definitely see it having been someone's favorite game when it first released.

Bad news, bud: it expired already. It really expires about six hours before the listed expiration date. I try to remind people whenever someone mentions expiring Bing credit, but these posts are few and far between. You can get customer support to reinstate your credit - and it'll expire a year from today - but honestly, it's not worth the time.

My issue was a billing error. The circumstance was very complicated and I talked to one CS person who wasn’t helpful. She was telling me to do something I already had done with the “request refund” page. It’s was frustrating because it was as if she just couldn’t understand I had done all that. I talked to someone through the online chat and they were much more helpful and fixed it right away. I see this with a lot of customer service people. Some do just enough to help the easy stuff out but then there are the people who do whatever they can(think outside the boxer ask another department about fixing it) who really make a difference. It’s a roll of the dice. I still can’t believe the best customer support I’ve probably ever had was through an online chat.
Was that purchase split between credit and CC? Maybe their system can't handle refund multiple funding sources instead of just giving the option to pick one or make it always be credit?

Hmm I can still access Pro Evolution Soccer 2019... And the store page for it seems to indicate that I own the full version game, without any caveat or disclaimer that it is only for the weekend. Is it safe to assume that we were actually given a $60 game that just came out for free? Or is it too early to tell and people who mocked people who expected free stuff are still in the right...

Free to Play weekends can go for a bit. I think Conan last time was still going on Wednesday.

Off topic I know but does anyone have recommendations for a projector? I'm going to be building a media room and I feel like the A/V rabbit hole goes too deep. People have incredible budgets when it comes to this kind of stuff but I was hoping to spend less than $1500 and less than $1000 would be ideal. Or maybe if someone had a really big tv recommendation. I'd appreciate any help cause I've been reading articles and watching videos for a while now and don't feel like I have a good handle on it.
With that budget, and not wanting to deal with complexity, I wouldn't go for a projector. I'd look for a Black Friday-ish deal on a Sony XBR65X900F, if 65" is "really big" enough for you. A projector can't really compete with a good 4K TV in the HDR arena.

EDIT: Best Buy's BF ad has this TV for $1600, which is a bit above your price range. You may also want to look at the Vizio P65-F1 which is a bit cheaper.

My last post ever on the Bad Lands GP error (highlights only):

  • Sent a reply from the first MS Rewards support request yesterday.
  • Had sent another support request just in case (now closed).
  • They said that it was a configuration issue with the GP reward I had previously redeemed.
  • They added 18,000 points to my account to redeem another 3-month GP reward.
Whew, I'm happy that it has been resolved. /rant

Now back to the regularly scheduled BF sales talk.  :)

Edit: Grammatical error corrections.

No. It was over a mess up between a Microsoft agent(who was trying to help) and myself that led to two refunds of gamepass while at one point having paid for it while not having access. It was so complicated and took days to straighten out. While not split, one payment was from my bank accountand one was Microsoft points. Thankfully the person I chatted with at the end looked past all of that and just gave me 3 months of game pass since my card still had been charged and not refunded.

All things considered, I don't think the Pokemon movie looks bad at all. They acknowledge and embrace the world, while the animators themselves have a rough battle balancing bringing the Pokemon to life, I think I was expecting more terrifying, but personally they got the right note of cartoon and existing in real world look together.

Monster Hunter on the other hand. Oh boy...

The Hitman pack is basically all the Hitman missions from Hitman 1 that you can play in Hitman 2. It's better graphics/performance but the same thing outside of that. I'm guessing because Hitman 1 was on gamepass for some reason it thinks a bunch of people own hitman 1 even though they don't, hence why it was free. Or at least this was my thought but I see it's free for pretty much everyone?

Hydrophobia has been on sale quite a lot over the years. Might have picked it up if it was BC, but alas.

I was thinking of booting up PUBG just to see how many gamepass/weekend noobs were there to kill. Must be easy to get dinners right about now! However, It's just so hard to go back to playing PUBG after playing Blackout the last month. 60fps vs 30fps and just a overall smoother experience. Of course the downside of Blackout being only one map...

We are just mere hours away from our queen becoming BC. YASS QUEEN!

Does it have achievements? And if so, are they the same as the original or like a DLC/Expansion for 2?

I played through the tutorial, definitely has achievements. Compared with my H1 achievements, not the same but some are simpler. Like beat level instead of kill ___ with ____.

With CG being what it is these days, it's certainly overdue for a live action Pokemon movie. I never envisioned it with Ryan Reynolds voicing a smart-mouthed Pikachu, though, I thought Mewtwo was the only one who was evolved enough to form coherent sentences?

It may be a better alternative than putting too much focus on human characters (Transformers) but it's still kind of odd.

Looks like my Scorpio X HDMI port has die. I think it's been going out for awhile but could get it to work if I kept switching input on my receiver. Getting this new tv I can't use the receiver without losing 4K and HDR signal, so the X is plugged straight into the TV. Tried different cords, hard boots, different tvs, and get no signal. Has anyone tried going to the Microsoft store and if so what is to be expected? There's a store 40 mins away from me.

What's this Hydrophobia game and why is it only $2 regular price?
It's alright, worth the $2 for the water physics gimmick they built the game around. It's 3D exploration game and set on a sinking ship, with water being heavily involved in traversal and puzzles, and some pretty basic shooting. It didn't do very well on launch, so they took the time to listen to feedback and did a title update with a bunch of changes, updating the game to Hydrophobia Pure. I don't think this actually translated to more sales.

Later they did a huge rework on the game, supposedly changing about 70% of the levels and lengthening the overall game, but this version was never brought to Xbox in any capacity, and is only on PS3 and Steam.

The game isn't very long, like 3 to 5 hours max. It was also supposed to be the first of three games, so I think the ending sucks but it's been a while since I played it. The game was overly hyped on Xbox because it was part of one of those old promos like Games of Summer or something.

Sure it's not just a handshake issue with the receiver? I have those fairly often with the X and S. HDR, in particular, seems to give it fits especially if the receiver remains on while I'm switching to the xbox from, say, my DTV box.

So the Microsoft rewards hot deal (until 11/15) is gamepass. 25% off one month. So 5,250 points for one month.

Good deal? Wait for better this holiday season?

I took the receiver out since it doesn't pass 4K/HDR to the new tv. The X is plugged right into the tv now. When I was using the receiver I could reset the handshake when the X wouldn't display or it was messed up. 3 things I can think of, 1. Send in for repairs at the store 2. reconnect the receiver and lose 4K/HDR or 3. upgrade the receiver to one that can pass 4K/HDR. Option 2 Defeats the purpose of getting the new tv and option 3 is a no go since I just spent some heavy $$$. If I mail in the X it'll can take up to 14 business days, I'm hoping the store can look at it and repair it or give me a replacement same day.

probably a crap ton of 3 months floating around from the badlands quest you could probably buy cheap in the trading section that would be a better deal

Sorry, missed the part where it's not getting a signal straight to the tv. Ugh, sorry.

I'm not sure the stores do console repair, it only mentions PC anything on their site. Everything I hear talks about offering free replacements, but it's usually about Elite Controllers. If they do ofer a replacement, you're pretty much guarenteed to not get a Scorpio Edition back.

You might still be under warranty if you didn't buy yours on day one. Personally I'd take the wait to have it fixed for free through the mail if I had a special console like that, but I have other consoles to play on too.

And this has what to do with this thread?!?

Chill out, like 75% of this thread's discussion is off-topic. I mean, people were talking about types of bacon yesterday.

Sure, I couldn't care less about bacon, or bbq sauces, or feet or any of the crazy talk you read here but I go along with it even if 99,9% of the times I don't participate when the whole thing gets derailed.

The one thing however, that I don't like is when people discuss PS4 and/or Switch exclusives here. Those have dedicated threads.

Do not underestimate your cables and how they interact with all your equipment. I had two different TVs with two different problems running through receivers and both ended up being cables that were supposed to be 4k capable cables. I finally replaced them a couple times and it fixed the issue. There are a lot of HDMI cable problems with 4k HDR incompatibility. Also, there is a setting on the X for YBR and the color bitrate. These can sometimes be incompatible with your receiver even if it is 4k ready. Lastly, your receiver might be trying to process the signal and you might try turning off the processing of the video signal to see if that helps.

I'm just happy when any games are discussed here. When Xbox actually has exclusives in 3 years thanks to all these acquisitions, maybe it will drown out the other platform talk. Up until Forza Horizon 4, we were sitting on about 5 months of nothing exclusive while the other consoles got a ton of stuff.

Hell, even X018 didn't really bring us that much to talk about beyond Obsidian and inXile. Like 3 new indie games, a few already announced games coming to Xbox, and bad looking gameplay (always locked on aiming in a PVP mode, really?) of Crackdown 3. Not to mention Crackdown 3 was announced four years ago, was supposed to be out in 2016, and has been delayed FOUR times. Beyond Crackdown, we only have two games officially confirmed for next year as well, Ori 2 and Gears 5. Maybe Battletoads but we have yet to see so much as a screenshot for that.

That's because this thread became the de-facto off-topic everything goes thread for some reason. If memory serves, the PSN deals thread is known for not allowing off-topic talk in the slightest. However, I do appreciate that this is one of the least toxic - if not the least toxic - Xbox-related threads anywhere on the internet.

Oh, and I disagree on Crackdown 3 looking bad, to me it looked awesome and I'll be buying it day one as I loved the first game (never got around to play the second one). But hey, opinions, colors.

And what if it has been delayed four times? As long as it's good when it does come out, no one will care. Final Fantasy 15 came out a full decade after being announced and it was well received despite some technical problems here and there.

E3 2020 when they announce everything is going to be so fucking sweet. For now it's the weird long wait to the inevitable flood gates opening, but man it'll be sweet.

Also I have not read, watched or remembered anything about Crackdown 3 since E3 2017. I'm not expecting much after how lazy Crackdown 2 was and the previews at that time saying "it's the same as the last one's."

If you like it that's fine, I'm not saying anyone should change their own opinions, but it just looks pretty underwhelming to me. We still didn't see much actual gameplay of the main game, and the VS mode we saw just seemed like a gimmick with all the world destruction. I don't think they figured out how to make competition work well with the extreme movement everyone has, and gave up by having the auto-aim thing.

I'm not really dinging the game for being delayed on it's own. It's more that we've had so few exclusives lately but MS has been pushing this one on us for 4 years now. If anything, I'm a bit concerned that it's changed developers a few times, and the fact that they had MS writer Joseph Staten as the person presenting the gameplay stuck out to me. In the end, the game isn't out yet. I'll be checking it out thanks to Game Pass but if I was paying for it, I personally would be waiting to hear how it actually is once it is out. I did the same thing with Halo 5 after how much I disliked 4, and I have thousands of hours with the series from the Bungie days. Destiny 2 burned me, so I've been being more skeptical on games in general. I'm also waiting on Fallout 76.

And I'd go back and look at 15 sentiment now that we're well away from initial impressions at launch. At the very least, a lot of players have massive complaints about the story and way that game is structured. Gameplay is pretty divisive because of how easy it is unless you're doing the absolutely hardest stuff in the game. After all this time responding to feedback to a degree with the DLC, they just fired the director and canceled the last wave that seemed to be attempting to address the story concerns. To those that do like it, good for them, but I think even they can acknowledge the flaws it does have. Breath of the Wild is a much better example for the point about delayed games still ending up good, and even that has a few somewhat big flaws, like the Divine Beasts and the way the story is handled.

You're 100% spot-on about FF15. I didn't want to go about everything that has happened AFTER launch because my point was about consumers not - really - caring if a game is delayed multiple times as long as it delivers, to a certain degree, when it ships.

I was one who thought some/most of the raving reviews were nostalgia-driven instead of than an actual analysis of the game as a product. But most of my friends who bought day one loved it and only a few of them have kinda changed their minds.

No other site I’m on has so many people complain about off topic posts, if it wasn’t for this thread I wouldn’t even come here anymore cause of the bitching.

When does BC stuff usually go live?

Also, for anyone playing Sniper Elite 4 be warned: If you're looking at collectibles in the main menu, there's an option that clears all the collectibles you've found in a stage. I thought it was an option to mark them all as "read" but whoops.

Not that it would really makes sense to start there, but I'd guess XIII-2 will look the best with the enhancements. Lightning Returns has kind of lower quality world design, I think partially for story reasons but primarily because it was made quickly.
