As the series has progressed (I'm currently playing Syndicate) the modern sections have increasingly becomes this weird vestigial limb. Not to yuck your yum, but I'm one of the people who wouldn't mind seeing it go. Surely they can put those resources elsewhere, right?

Yeah, I agree that they have nerfed the modern day content to the point where it seems unnecessary but I really liked the original games' modern day story with Desmond.

When they killed off the guy it was all tied to and his memory DNA is a part of all of the evil tech company's tools that they use to make AC games with Ubisoft, it is no longer an interesting part of the storyline unless they somehow kept going with the video game developer thing and got really weird and meta with that. Nothing tops the ending revelations of AC2 and they didn't really capitalize on that with what they did in AC3, so I barely notice the out of simulation parts of the games now.
Agreed. The original game's modern day story with Desmond and illuminati stuff was more interesting. I wish the newer games put in the same type of effort to make the modern storyline interesting.

My experience, playing Black Flag:

I'm a pirate and having swordfights and crazy adventure, finally sailing this ship out to sea, wait... What's happening..?
I'm walking through an office building lobby and getting an ID card. Oh snap! Getting that elevator access card son! That's MY cubicle? SICK! Better have that Herman Miller chair in there for my lumbar!

Super...dumb.

I'm surprised Mario + Rabbids is getting a sequel. Didn't seem like it sold that well with the Ubisoft $15 frequent pricing and being 5 years later. Happy to have it as it's the only Ubi title I'll buy on Switch.

I actually think it sold well. It just more closely followed the pricing trajectory of a ubisoft title than a nintendo title. I'll buy the sequel 's gold ed. eventually <$25.

Possible of course. I'm predicting we get another WiiU port of some sort. Maybe the Zelda games that were remastered for it. Pro Switch likely too. Just hopefully something interesting. I really doubt we see Metroid Prime 4. We will see No More Heroes 3 for sure since that is coming this year. Also BOTW 2 released on Pro Switch day with some upgrades to get people buying that system. Just guesses though the NMH3 is very likely in my eyes.

A bunch of first party games just dropped to $50.99 on best buy about an hour ago. This better not be a preview of the sale that's supposed to coincide with tomorrow's Nintendo direct for E3 because 15% off "don't impress me much"

If you think that's bad, try sitting through the assassin's creed movie.

BOTW is now $39.99 (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild-nintendo-switch/5721500.p?skuId=5721500)

Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Links Awakening have a "See price in cart" deal. I checked AC and it's $50.99. Odd they would just not show it like the other games. It's not like that is going to keep people from price matching it (not that anyone should, as it would still be cheaper to just go to walmart and get them for a little less any day of the week.

The only first party game left that I want at this point is just Mario Golf in a couple weeks. Then it'll be Zelda Skyward Sword. I'll get both at Walmart and save the $10 on each at launch instead of waiting for a sale.

I haven't bought a switch game since Animal Crossing. Looks like Metroid Dread will end that dry spell.

Link looks like he's been through hell in that new zelda trailer. Looks good though. Not much for me from that E3. Just Metroid in 2021

Advance Wars 1&2 is something I wanted for ages even though I have my original copies.  Not sure I care about the updated graphics but I'll buy it if it gets a physical release.

Metroid Dread - looks great, glad we are getting a new 2d playing metroid game.  I'm more amped for that than another 3d game.

Metroid Dread is definitely the highlight of the show, at least for this year.

Prime 4 must be pretty far off to show nothing, and no Bayonetta 3 at all.  Lots of remakes and remasters, some good some eh.

I mean the idea was to showcase games coming in 2021, with Zelda being the one exception for 2022. Metroid Prime 4 definitely isn't coming in 2021. I imagine E3 next year we will see it.

I will say, that for Nintendo to do a Zelda game and watch system instead of a collection of some sort for switch was a huge disappointment. Also a bummer to not even get the DX version of links awakening on the game and watch. Overall I was happy, Metroid Dread looks very cool, Mario party looked fine, love advanced wars as a kid, SMT V will be good, Wario Ware looks fun, and Breath of the Wild 2 looks great.

People are disappointed by Nintendo's upcoming games? We got a deeper look at Mario Golf, new 2D Metroid, SMT V release day, new Warioware, and a BOTW 2 teaser with a 2022 date. Other than BOTW 2 everything is coming out in the next 6 months.

I am probably the only person in the world hyped for the new Cruis'n game right now. Besides Rare and Nintendo games, all I played on N64 as a kid were those two Cruis'n racers. And they were always my favorites at arcades. Can't wait.

Not everyone is interested in Mario Golf, SMT & Warioware. Does that surprise you? I personally have zero interest in those. New Metroid yes! New Zelda yes!

You have to admit, these are a very niche collection of games. Not so much BotW2, but that's not out this year. What is Nintendo's big mainstream holiday release? I didn't see it in that Direct. Not that I care- what they showed was right up my alley, personally. Advance Wars remakes.. almost too good to be true.

They haven't updated the deals landing page for some reason, but so far I've seen Pikmin 3, Paper Mario, and Xenoblade 1 for 41.99. I have the gold coins to cover one, so I'm sure I'll blow them on one of them
