How many copies of a game can I trade in?
​You are allowed to trade in 4 copies of the same game (same system) within a rolling 30 day period.
 
What do I need to trade in an older console?
The console, power cable, av cable, and controller. Sometimes they don't care about USB charge cable but ymmv. 3DS XL trade would be console, charger, and stylus. Some have reported being charged a refurb fee for missing the stylus, but again ymmv (answer stolen from anarchyburger)

Does the Pro Membership B2G1 coupon apply to only games, or accessories as well?
The coupon applies to both games and accessories, per the wording on the coupon.
 
I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).
 
 
TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free. Typically refers to the coupon you receive when becoming Pro.
GCU/BB: Gamer’s Club Unlocked, Best Buy
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Then like 10 people walked in behind her walking out and got in line. The SL sounded miserable and that’s what he gets. That poor girl was sad as hell.

Just an fyi for anyone who cares, and maybe this is common knowledge but I didn't know - the employees at any Gamestop store can see all the preorders you have across all stores. I did a trade about 30 minutes ago and when I mentioned I wanted to put $5 on my preorder for GTA, he said, "whoa did you know you have 3 preorders at 3 different locations?"

Thankfully he seemed nice and didn't care, and also didn't ask why I had 3 preorders for the same game. But it's probably a good idea to do different preorders when possible to help avoid arousing the suspicion of any would-be JDs.

Yeah, it's common enough if you've been doing this a bit. It's your account, not your account at that store. I'd cancel one soon if I were you and try not to get flagged.

I second this. Didn’t know they could see. About 5 months ago an employee made the same type of comment. And the next time I went to trade my account was banned. So it would be wise not to pre order multiples of the same game on 1 account

You missed an opportunity. My response would have been "Really? That is just silly. Would you mind combining them into the preorder here at this store? That would be so helpful"

Wouldn’t they have to call each store you did it at to do so unless you did all of them at the same store which then kind of seems rediculous.

Guess I can improve on thinking fast lol. I like froze and said “must be my siblings, we use the same account”. Best thing I could come up with instantly lol. Oh well. That is now my designated buy games account

Definitely trade in now before they nuke the TIV for some reason. I’m happy I finally got $150+ trade in credit. Now I’ll actually flip stuff if u guys post some good ones. Haven’t flipped in years. Also love trading in GameStop’s crappy cases back and keeping the new cases to myself. Wish the medium ps5, senran kagura ps4, Jedi fallen order ps4, Tony hawk ps4, Yakuza 7 ps4 tiv we’re higher. I’m trying to upgrade those to ps5 copies.

Did anyone actually trade in re village ps5? Wondering if that’s really 35 base instore too. Should’ve probably traded it in too

Damn. Is having multiple preorders enough to get flagged? I was thinking it might just raise suspicion and make them look into your order history.

well, the only reason to have multiple preorders would be to trade in games multiple times, so if they look at your order and trade in history and see that, good chance to get banned

 
When I traded in more than once, I just asked them if I can add $5 more toward the existing preorder and they were fine with it.

If you started a new preorder, no. Not sure how it hits their metrics if you move it to another existing preorder. I assume it will count as a preorder loss.
 
So I've never traded games in before. Do you need to bring in the case and game or just the game?

I'm seeing some good trade-in credit on games I no longer play like Forza 4 (XBox 1) or Let’s Go Pikachu (Switch).
 
Just came back from GS. I guess the 30% pre-order trade in bonus differs per store/district. I tried it  for advance wars for switch, but did not trigger the bonus. However, it did for the GTA for switch and employee said that their store also applied it to the new Rainbow six for xbox or ps5.

So the possible issue is there are two listings in their system both at the same price, but one says DLC next to it so I'm guessing it's the digital version? But it's possible that one in the system doesn't trigger it maybe?
 
Any estimates on how long the current console trade values will last? Also, how much do they typically take off from trade in for Switch Lite without rubber on one of the thumb stick?

Traded in just about all the $35 Switch games, Vanguard, No Man's Sky, and a couple others.  Quite the haul.  Great end to the flipping year.  Thanks all for the help in this forum.  Greatly appreciated

 
Too bad I was actually excited for gamestop to do deals of the day again. Now they discontinue after 3 days of it. Flip flop sandwiches on the menu at that company.

 
The b2g1 isn't working on Doom VR my local store has 5 was going to buy 3 with the 3 Forza i bought and head out to the next local 3 stores and trade them in together. I bought one man's sky for 8$ cause i haven't seen it that low i played it and enjoyed it i dont know if i should trade it in i don't play games that much plus school starts in a few days which will give me even more less time hmmm.

Were they preowned or new copies? Even without the deal, they are still a decent flip
 
Just to clarify pre-order bonus optimization when trading, if I trade in and put $5 towards a pre-order to get the bonus today, could I return tomorrow and put another $5 towards the same pre-order to trigger the bonus again? Or does it need to be a new pre-order?
