I told you guys this thing was going to be easy to find. I have a bunch of targets within 15 miles of me and according to the app, the Mario Kart bundle in stock at all of them. Other users on reddit and other places are posting similar things about their local Gamestop, BB and Walmarts and even Costco. Also remember that Staples also them.
I just checked my target app my closest store is oos but there are several other stores around the Austin area with a supply of Bundle and Non- Bundle. Glad it's not going to be too hard to find for the time being.

Since we are talking home ownership for some reason, I live in Southern California so the chances of me ever owning a house here are pretty much 100% never going to happen. I would need to move to some cheap state like Nebraska or Kansas or Tennessee and just be miserable for the rest of my life but at least I'd be in a house right? Yeah I don't really care about materialistic things so I'll just likely rent forever if it means I get to live in the place with some of the best weather on the planet. Not the United States, the entire planet. Let alone all the things there are to do here and all the beautiful nature. I'll put all of those hundreds of thousands of dollars in my ROTH IRA and individual account.
Come down here to Sarasota county Florida it’s real nice you’ll love it and it’s not expensive.

Digital or Physical? I'm assuming physical copies wont get faster load times but i hope im wrong
Digital, on the system memory

are the switch 2s sealed with anything?
Both I got were not sealed, which I expected since my original Switches and I believe even my New 2DS XLs did not come sealed. Any seal was probably done by the store somebody got theirs from, to make returns easier

:ROFLMAO: I have friends in Port Charlotte and I have visited there a couple of times. I went last year in August and I was offended with the weather. It was absolutely disgusting. I was told that's what Florida is like 7 months out of the year. Oh and you also have hurricane season and get some bad ones every couple of years. You are in hurricane season right now. We have very different definitions of real nice. The Myakka river state park is absolutely gorgeous though. One of the coolest places I've ever been to.

Wife and I moved from Corona ,ca to Cedar Park, tx ( 20 min from downtown Austin) in '21 and that's the only way we were able to buy a house. For what we got we would have had to buy out in the boonies to stay in socal. When we got here we received many comments about how we were inflateing the market by selling our million dollar house to buy houses cash in tx....we did not infact own when we were in ca. Lol

My husband works, I do not. We have our house paid off, bought 2 cars cash last year and are going on a trip to Japan soon (flying in business class). I do not budget. I want something, I buy it. We’re probably pretty high upper middle class but not upper class since we are not at a point where we could enjoy this life without his paycheck.
You’re lucky. I’m super frugal so everything is budgeted for. That being said, I’m doing fine so I don’t stress too much about emergencies. But my housing is 40% of my take home.

Look at Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico for beautiful, warm weather.

Just plz don’t move to Colorado, we are all full 🙏🙏

I'm happy all of you launch day guys were able to get one. Congrats! 🥂

I've been scrolling through social media and watching comparison videos for older games. The performance boost for load times and frame rate has me sold. Although it looks like Animal Crossing still takes nearly a full minute to start up, ha ha! Hyrule Warriors does get a nice boost even without an update. There's also a bunch of videos of spawn rates for Pokemon Sc/V where shinies are popping up left and right due to the sheer number of pokemon on screen at once. It's pretty refreshing to see all these great games not being held back by hardware limitations.

Colorado is beautiful, but good luck with that whole water issue in a decade or so ... 💀

They’ve been whining about a looming water crisis for years and yet the water supply just keeps getting better. Climate change goes both ways- we get more and more mountain snowfall every winter which is where the bulk of our water comes from. And record breaking rainfall this spring. Other states get drier but we get wetter so I’m not worried. None of us will be around when climate change is set to get really apocalyptic anyway so enjoy life will it lasts and nudge the kids and grandkids to move to wherever is safest in the future if we all don’t destroy ourselves on this tiny little planet before then.

I didn't have a lot of time at lunch, but I'll cover a few things.

My switch 2 did have a small round sticker over the main tab that closes the box. Pro controller also had a sticker.

Damn this thing is kind of big. Not a complaint. I mean, I knew it was slightly bigger but it reminds me of going from regular 3DS to the new 3DS XL except not realizing how much of an impact that would be.

The way the joycons click in, feels good. It seems very solid. What a huge improvement over sliding joycons into rails and trying not to press buttons.

The whole thing feels really nice to hold. As beefy as it is, it's the same thickness as original Switch though it gives the illusion of being thinner due the larger dimensions. It doesn't feel that heavy.

The dock is nicer than I expected. There's a protective rubber'ish layer on the inside. So no scratching screens for the clumsy. It's nice having an Ethernet jack built in... though I'll be using it wireless. All the ventilation is a plus, though I'd imagine from time to time we'll be flipping our docks to make sure dust doesn't build up.

While my youngest son has an OLED Switch, I've not really messed with it at all. So I don't know how the kickstand is on it, but the Switch 2 .. while it has some flex to it... that thing can be set at any angle and easily holds it... even tilted up slightly from flat on a table. I was pretty impressed such a simple thing.

The pro controller, damn it's nice. The back buttons, I had no interest in these but they perfectly line up with my middle fingers on the grip portion while my pointers are laying across the L/R & ZL/ZR buttons. I can see the back buttons being SUPER useful. The sticks are smooth as butter. Comparing to regular pro it seems like the post part of the stick is narrower on the Pro2, which should give slightly more range of movement. The chat button is easily reachable and the way they raised the + & - buttons is nice. Really the pro 2 doesn't seem that different from the regular pro at first glance... but it does feel better and seems even more ergonomic. Like, it's been perfectly tweaked.

That's it. I didn't even plug it in. Just docked it a few times... tried the joycons clicking in and then also in the wrist straps which also have the protective layer when using them as a mouse. Yes it's a bit pricey, but well... life.

Apparently, that GC controller I ordered required a signature from UPS, which I don't think was anywhere on the tracking. They tried to deliver in the middle of the day when I was at work, so I hope they try again tomorrow at around the same time. I tried to make UPS accounts for the site, app, or whatever to see if I could guarantee deliver or pick it up somewhere, but I got lost in a hellhole of UPS account bullshit that I gave up on after so many verification codes and other shit it wanted from me.

Weird. I’ve had many Nintendo orders with controllers (including GameCube today) without signature. Maybe regional?

Picked up my bundle preorder from Best Buy. Started with the save transfer. Pokemon and Animal Crossing saves (and a couple others, I think Cadence of Hyrule was one) will be deleted from the original Switch, it said other saves will be copied. Glad it didn't need to use the separate app for transferring the Animal Crossing save.

The transfer sat for a bit at the prompt saying to plug in the AC adapter on the Switch, with only an option to cancel. It was plugged in, but I have it connected to a USB hub that I use for charging multiple devices. I guess it wasn't drawing enough power from the hub, because when I switched it to an adapter, the process continued.

After transferring saves, if you have photos and videos on the original's microSD card, it will have you move that to the Switch 2, then require another update to use the card to make the copy.

Going to take a while to download the existing games, then redeem the Mario Kart World code. I think I'll have enough space on the internal for everything that transferred + MKW, but we'll see.

Talks mostly about HDR

There's actual analysis in this video; guy's actually using a spectrum analyzer to determine output intensity.

The handheld screen is kinda butt for HDR and may impact viewing on standard TVs due to certain limitations on some titles.

Good uplifts are possible with the Switch 2 playing Switch 1 games, but it won't solve everything. Also, playing Switch 1 games on Switch 2 on handheld forces the resolutions of Switch 1 in handheld mode onto the Switch 2 screen... Switch 1 games in handheld mode rendered at 720p (or often, less) and the Switch 2 is a 1080p screen. Seems like it leaves a lot to be desired and folks are asking for a "forced dock mode" for the Switch 2 to play Switch 1 games as if it were docked. I bet the battery life is wonderful in that scenario...

Can't wait for more crunchy content. This is my fun for the launch.

It's a little mind boggling that the Nintendo switch 2 release is today but as of 10:45pm cst I can't buy it directly from Nintendo. Needing an invite after the launch to purchase one is a WND (weird nintendo decision) if I ever saw one.

Were you right off the 15? Corona gets kind of hot but not Texas hot. I was just visiting a friend in Austin and was in Houston the day before that. Houston 96 degrees Austin 104 and it wasn't even June yet. If your house was a million dollars, that's not the boonies. You get very nice houses for way cheaper than a million depending on the size of course. My friend bought a three-bedroom two-bath house with a nice backyard in Vista 2 years ago for $700, 000.

For me, I'd rather live in Corona than Texas any day. You are like what 35 minutes to cool off and get nice weather in Corona? You can't do the same thing where you are living right now. It all depends on your definition of nice place and weather though. Plus in Corona you are way way closer to a lot of things to do and sports teams and theme parks. Can't say the same for where you are in Texas. I'm very glad I'm not materialistic and I don't need a house in order to be happy. If that was the case, I have would have moved out of Southern California a long time ago. It's also a good thing I can't afford a girlfriend either because pretty much every woman here asks me what I do for a living and if I own a house right when I meet them in person or match with them on a dating app.

Yup right by the 15 by the Cajalico exit if you know the area. We were living with my parents at the time saving to buy a house. When the family business moved to Austin I chose to follow rather than look for another job. When we first started looking to move in 2018 the highest it got was the 90s but when we moved the temps started going crazy high....and low. We looked in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio but ended up in Austin. Parents bought their corona house in 03 for like 4 something and ended up selling for over a mil. So they are on the water on lake travis which is nice. And we were able to get our own place. Was born in CA so it'll always be home. Nothing beats being close to the beach, mountains and amusement parks.

Set my switch 2 up. I'm using a Samsung Plasma 1080p tv in my den... so I only turned RBG to Full Range like I did with the original Switch. It makes the colors seem more rich, especially black is much darker. I did not do system transfer, I didn't want all my Switch stuff on Switch 2. Plus, one game I'm still playing, Tokyo Xanadu eX+ is not currently playable on Switch 2. IF you try to buy the digital version the store won't even sell it to you if you are using a Switch 2. So I'll keep things separated and enjoy the fresh new setup.

While Mario Kart World was downloading, my oldest son suggested we do Vampire Survivors to eat time. So I set that VGC to install and made it the priority. I love how all the dlc auto downloads with the vgc. Also upon starting it asked if I wanted to download my cloud save... um, yes please. Vampire Survivors played great. No hiccups or lag when things got crazy at the end of our 30 min and change run. Nicely MKW finished before we did.

Mario Kart World... we played that for a few hours. We did turn off the steering assist. My gosh it's smooth and oh so beautiful and open. I felt like there was no limit to how far I could see. I like that there's so much to unlock and the levels feel so open and detailed. There were moments where I recognized things from other MK games which was pretty nice. Part of my problem with Mario Kart 8 was nearly everything was unlocked at the start so outside of multiplayer it didn't seem worth playing. Here, I could do a lot on my own. Being able to drop into free roam from the title screen if you see something you want to interact with (like they drive past a P block)... is a nice touch. We played a standard circuit that at the end unlocked Donkey Kong, then we tried a balloon battle. Afterwards we went online as 2 players and had some races against people from all around the world. Being able to play in the hub while things are loading was great. No sitting around and waiting, go explore and use the chat bubbles to send messages. I finished by doing some free roam. I found a handful of missions and also found some food drop spots so I could swap characters and unlock different skins. At first I thought I was cheating unlocking characters but looking at the character roster it was actually growing and the skins didn't count.

I didn't have a chance to try 3 or 4 player... I will do that when my youngest son is home from his beach trip... and we'll take the system over to my FIL's house and set it up on his 4K tv with HDR. That way the system will be pushing things to their limit.

The interface is super snappy. Being able to program the Pro 2 back buttons on the fly by holding Home is slick. I did turn on the accessibility feature for zooming by double pressing home.

Overall, this was probably the only time in my life where I bought a system and hadn't really been flooded with info and spoilers before hand. The only other system I've bought at launch was the original GBA (Arctic White) but I followed all the news about that system. Switch I knew enough but I had to wait for the first restock. I naturally got to discover things in Mario Kart like I was a kid again because I knew nearly nothing.

I'm really happy how this all worked out. I still have a lot of testing to do, but that'll happen when I have more time over the weekend.

The blacks seem darker (and colors oversaturated) because of a probable video range mismatch between console and TV. The blacks are being crushed, wiping out shades of black and shadow detail. In general you should use RGB limited (or auto) on game consoles along with the corresponding setting on the TV (limited or low). This is true for newer consoles and 4K TVs as well. The most important thing is to not have a mismatch.

One of the better articles I've seen explaining RGB limited and full for gaming

Using RGB auto/limited on Series/PS5 (some more detailed explanation for PS5)

'Optimized' settings for LG OLEDs (will probably get updated with more Switch 2 info later) - also using limited video range settings

According to Splatoon players the gyro in the controller is vastly improved. I’ll find out when mine gets here Monday? from Costco. Actually my older daughter will test that out. Her hours spent in Splatoon are ridiculous.

Probably a blip of consoles from people that preordered somewhere else too and then cancelled the target one when the shipping was so slow.

I think we will see a small steady supply of these trickling in at retailers over the next two weeks this happens and as scalpers start their reluctant returns. Too bad Walmart can't make them return the free coke and pringles.

Let us know if you can add the online voucher without hassle. Curious if it is really only for new customers.

Gotcha.
Costco is my second choice for the bundle with MKW, but I don’t want a voucher I can’t use.
I’ve been saving up Amazon GC for a couple years and have enough to by the bundle, controller and a game outright, so that’s obviously my first choice, but I’m also a sucker for a deal, so?

What happens when you try to launch TX from cartridge?

I didn't bother since I knew it wasn't going to be BC yet. Hopefully they get a patch out. The switch version was released last year, so it's not like it's a super old title.

While I appreciate all the technical info, on my plasma .. I'm positive runs Full. So limited makes everything washed out since the tv is set to full, Auto looks the same as limited as I don't think the switch can detect the rgb range on auto correctly so it sets it to limited. Full looks correct. With proper blacks and bright whites and the full range in between. You are completely right about mismatching not working out.

Popped Tokyo Xanadu ex+ into my switch 2. It suggested an update which loaded in seconds… upon starting it offered to download my cloud save, so I did. Game booted pretty damned fast and loaded my save.

eshop still shows it unsupported. I remember the update came out on the heels of the original incompatibility list.. but of course there was no info about what the update was for and the game didn’t leave the list after it was updated.

So maybe the game is fine. Or maybe I’ll get into it and it’ll crash. But it didn’t have startup problems..

Best Handheld Reviewer out there put their first impressions video up.

The discussion about the system form factor and weight definitely means I'll wait for those third party Joycon replacements that focus on ergonomics. My hands hurt from playing Switch 1 until I got my HORI split pad.

Anyways, good video and can probably answer some of the weird little details, like showing how the digital game card thing works.

Is there any incentive to buy directly from Nintendo vs other retailers for the Switch 2? Other than I still have an opportunity with Nintendo tbrough Sunday and missed doing so at other retailers at launch? 🤔

I preordered mine from their invite and got it delivered yesterday (release day) and was really surprised since they shipped it late Tuesday. I took the chance because I also wanted the Gamecube controller. So I guess after release the only incentive is that they actually have it and they most likely ship it right away.

Someone on the Costco Reddit said it redeemed fine for him and added a year to his membership.
