I was very fortunate find a used copy at my Gamestop for $12.99 a few months ago. It really is a tough one to find.

I'm shocked that some are saying because they are buying Bluray or HD-DVD titles when there really not that many titles being released compared to standard dvd. It will take many years before either HD format comes remotely close to releasing what is out on dvd now. The reason is manufacturing...

The booklets came in last Friday.

I spoke to my Gamestop connection and he said all those titles will be on sale for $3.99 on Black Friday in "all" stores.

I sure wish they would put some of those Fox UMD titles like "Die Hard", "Speed", "Alien" and others on sale for $4.99.

Now come on now do really think Sony hasn't "soaked" their share of manufacturers? Let' be real here. The HD-DVD camp is no different then the Blu-Ray camp. It's a format "WAR" folks and I still have not come across any war that was pretty. In the long run this can only benefit the consumer...

The Philips 3490 for $45 is a GREAT upconverting player at you local Walmart. I've had two of them for 3 months and they have worked with no problem. You can also set them for region free playpack.

Check your local Walmarts. They currently have the Symphonic DVD/VHS combi recorders on sale for $180. Don't let the name fool you it's an excellent DVD-R recorder with 5 speeds (1,2,4,6,10 hours). The quality of the recordings are even very good at the 4 hour speed.
