General Old School Gaming Thread - What you playin'

Seems the only classic gaming (or any gaming for that matter) I get lately is when my 2 year old daughter wants to go down into what was once my man cave/media room/sanctuary and "watch Mario"/aka make Mario run around in circles in Mario 64. Kids are great but you're fooling yourself if you...

Today is the 15th NA Anniversary of the Nintendo 64

I remember walking into an EB on N64 launch day and picking one up without having pre-ordered, the guy behind the counter told me he had one that wasn't spoken for. How times have changed!

    Thrift Store Thread 2011

Picked up Legend of Zelda Collector's edition for Gamecube (complete) at a Goodwill store's grand opening yesterday for $5. I went about an hour after opening and there were cops directing traffic and literally hundreds of people in line waiting to check out. I was on my lunch break and...

    The Blockbuster/Gamerush Thread XXIV - 5 for $20 on $9.99 and under Blu-Rays

I was at a closing blockbuster the other day and overheard some of the people working there say that there was going to be "something big happening" on April 7 that would be revealed during a scheduled conference call.

    Target Clearance Thread XVII

Like most of you I haven't had much luck at Target recently either, and I'm undecided about the new electronics section. The luck changed a little bit yesterday, I snagged: PS2 Dual Shock controller (Silver) - $6.XX PS2 MLB 09 - $4.XX PS2 God of War II (GH) - $4.XX PS2 Rock Band 2 - $4.XX

    Target Clearance Thread XVII

Not really a game find, but I came across a few Philips 2-way HDMI switches for $12.xx. I've been on the lookout for a cheap one for one of my bedroom TV's and finally found one that wasn't grossly overpriced.

    Thrift Store Thread 2010

Goodwill stores in my area are typically pretty dry, but I actually found something the last time I stopped in. They had a black gamecube with wavebird for $7, though the cables were bundled separately along with 3 1st party controllers for $7. Not an earth-shattering deal but a gamecube with...

    I own an Atarl Lynx.

I bought a one online about 8-9 years ago along with several accessories and about 20 or so games (all NIB) for about $60-$70 if I remember correctly. I never spent much time with it as I found the blurry screen to make most of the games nearly unplayable. Blue Lightning and Chip's Challenge...

    Remembering the Dreamcast

I picked up mine on launch day also (9/9/99, the day after my 20th birthday). I didn't have one pre-ordered and walked into Toys-R-Us around 3:00 that afternoon and walked out with a Dreamcast. I guess that was the end of the era when you could pick up a new game system on launch day without...

    Panasonic 3DO

I first bought a 3DO (FZ-10) when I was a sophomore in high school, right at the end of the system's life cycle. It was my first 32-bit system and I actually spent a fair amount of time with it. I was able to build a sizable collection quickly and cheaply as retailers were clearing out stock...

General Old School Gaming Thread - What you playin'

I think the main reason I find myself going back to the older games is time. For the most part, old-school games are more accessible than their modern counterparts for those of us who may only have 10-15 min here and there to sit down with them. Before I had a wife and child at home I had more...

    Remembering the Dreamcast

I have a Japanese import copy but never played the US version. I thought it was decent, but nothing too memorable (assuming there were no major differences between the two versions). Sega GT was actually my favorite DC racer (I question whether or not I might be the ONLY one who feels that...

What was your favorite Saturn Game?

My vote actually goes to a sports game, World Series Baseball 98. I've never come across another baseball game that plays as well though, like many early 3D/polygonal games of the era, it hasn't aged too well visually. Panzer Dragoon Saga would be a close second.

The Blockbuster/Gamerush Thread XXII (B1G1 50% off on all used games!)

BOGO confirmed in Greensboro, NC...picked up Ghostbusters (PS3) and Lair (PS3) for $10...there were no signs up but an employee volunteered the information when he noticed me looking around the game section
