Games That Just Won't End (but you are compelled to finish)

The original Marvel: Ultimate Alliance felt very drawn out to me. My brother and I were pretty much tired of playing it when we still had four more areas to complete in the game. We managed to finish it, but once the game basically said "haha you suck, you didn't complete all this random...

    Indie Bundles: worth it?

I'm weird in that I don't find the bundles a worthwhile investment unless I'm both interested in playing every single game in the bundle, and I don't already own any of the games individually. As a result I've never bought a bundle because none of them have ever satisfied both requirements. In...

The Steam Deal Thread V6. We're all pumped for CAG 3.0!

I would add somewhere in there "Will be in a bundle? is total bundle fodder. is now live!" Then there's 10 more pages discussing that bundle and all bundles before it. :)

I have temporarily lost my will to play video games.

Plenty of times. It's a sign that you may need to vary things up with your spare time. I've found that as I've gotten older, just doing gaming in my spare time isn't as fun as it used to be when I was back in middle school or high school (which feels like a long time ago now that I've...

I've always been amazed whenever I see anyone on my friends list in Steam start up GTA4 and not immediately crash out of the game with all the freaking DRM that title has.

What I like about Giana Sisters is that it's challenging without feeling punishing. I don't feel like every level is intentionally trying to punish me for attempting to progress through it. Instead, they present challenges that may look incredibly difficult at first, but can be overcome...

I've played some of Painkiller: Black and it's a pretty fun and mindless shooter. Nice for when I just feel like shooting hundreds of enemies on the screen all at once. Pretty fast paced too, so it's a pretty good adrenaline rush most of the time. The bosses usually add a strategic element...

Yeah I'm at the end of the second world now. I decided to stop there because those boss levels can be quite the endurance round in just getting to the boss based on my experience with the first world, and THEN you get to try to beat the boss. This is going to be a game that I'll have to play...

Is there anyone else who has Giana Sisters, and can only take it a couple of levels at a time? This has been happening to me as I play through the game because I find that the levels can leave my pulse racing afterwards (in a good way though!). Just finished a level where I was cussing up a...

It's not a very good or exciting game. Every time it starts amping up the tension, it fizzles away, and reverts back to a generic shoot and take cover FPS action game. I loved the first game, found some things to like about the second, but absolutely hated the third. Only get it if you...

I feel your frustration. Back in my undergrad studies, I had to use Red Hat (version 7.5 I think) to set up a network, and all the jazz for one my classes. For starters, we were using this on PCs so old, that they could barely run Windows XP at the time. It installed, but everything was so...

^^ My thoughts exactly. If you stick to Campaign on Normal, you'll have the best chance at having a good experience. Heck, you can even play Campaign on Easy online and then you'll definitely have a good experience unless you're in a group where it's everyone's first time playing the game...

Wow, Giana Sisters takes me back to the classic gaming era of platformers. I never considered myself an uber platformer player, but man I must be rusty as that first boss really gave me a kicking. I finally went on YouTube to get ideas for how to avoid one of his attacks. After watching that...

Anyone remember when Amazon had Prototype 1 and 2+DLC on sale for $7.50? Makes me glad I got in on that deal after I saw Steam's sale prices for those games.

I loved Dragon Force. Too bad the sequel never made it over here :(. The most enjoyable part of that game was using the debug mode and just sending the AI opponents into battles with each other

What has been the best item packed in with a video game you've ever encountered?

The backpack from the inFamous 2 Hero Edition. I use it everyday since it's not too large a backpack for taking stuff to and from work.

I can definitely tell that the game is going to get very challenging, very quickly. I'm still on the first chapter levels and can only take doing so many levels in a row before I feel mentally exhausted, and need to take a break. Thanks for the tips though! I'll keep them in mind as I continue.

I finally got around to putting some time into Legend of Fae today. This game is very fun and frantic. Almost like an ADHD puzzle game, and definitely a different take on the "match 3" style popularized by Bejeweled. Thanks again to the folks here who recommended it in one of the past...

Heh that was a humorous read, thanks for explaining. I was always wondering how all the Coconut Queen craze got started in the Steam threads since everyone kept talking about it for pages in one of the previous versions of the thread.

    GameStop Phone Calls...

I missed this call while at work because my phone was set on silent. I listened to it while walking to my car, and was wondering if Gamestop hadn't gotten enough holiday foot traffic since they were trying to passive/aggressively make me spend my credit on something. That lady's recorded voice...
