GTA3 by far. For open world games, it was what games like doom and half life were to FPS's in the 90's,just completely blowing up that genre. Without gta3 we wouldn't have had all it's fantastic sequels(especially san andreas which is probably the best of that series),nor games like mercenaries...

I'm surprised they haven't done this sooner,given how millions of people play these games for months if not years on end. Yet unlike an MMO they only pay a one time upfront fee of 60 dollars. That's a lot of money activision is missing out on.
