(Dementium) They actually fixed* that in the UK version -- it has multiple checkpoints. So, if you're really serious about playing it, you may want to import it, though the price may not be worth it. *It hasn't been released in the UK yet, should be released in July, apparently.

Worth it: if you like the music. Has the good features of the later games (Duet, etc.). Makes no difference if you watch the show or not, they just judge you at the end, really the only difference. Mics: Nope.

I totally agree, although I can't comment on the accuracy of SingStar, as I've only played UltraStar (PC emu). But as far as the interface, I definitely prefer KR for the reason you mentioned. As far as I know, any USB mics (other than SingStar mics) will work with KR. I got two Logitech mics...

For people wondering about PS2 vs Xbox...I'd go for Xbox if you can help it. Xbox looks better, has faster loading, has a better controller IMO (although the button layout is a bit better on the PS2 in this case), and the PS2 version has a bug where when you double-jump, your shadow disappears...
