I was at best buy yesterday and they have these "Red" magazine laying around for free. It was their premiere issue, its a magazine for ATI graphic cards. Anyways, in the back of the magazine are coupons for $10 off any game over 29.99 along with other coupons for ATI products. It doesnt specify whether you can use it for PC games or console games---so i asked the cashier if i can use it for PS2 games, and he said yes.

check your local bestbuy for RED magazine. I found it in the video game section.

I went today, and I had every intention of using it on Ninja Gaiden Black, but this BB didn't have any in stock, so I decided to use it on Indigo Prophecy. I waited for him to scan the game, and then showed him the coupon. When it finally scanned it was obvious that it said $10.00 off any pc game. However, he didn't bother reading the screen display. The coupon also didn't work immediately, so he called over an overworked female manager, who apologized to me a few times, and proceeded to take $10.00 off the price of the game. So, this is definitely very YMMV as it's very clear on the screen once they scan it that it's for pc games only. Just be a happy devil customer if it works for you. I know I was.

if they dont let you do it b/c it says pc games only, either complain about how it says "any video game" on the coupon, or just PM it at CC, haha
sorry that i'm avoiding reading all 103 posts in this thread, but are these readily available in multiple quantities at every BB or is it YMMV that they even have any?
The mags are YMMV, but the scans work.

Just picked up DBZ Budokai 2 for GC for $15 after this coupon and the $5 Gamers Gift Card Coupon. She had to manually put in both. I also picked up what looked like the last copy of RED on the service desk counter. This coupon ends 10-15 I think. I have bought 2 now with this coupon and the GGC together. I am always in my BB and know everyone, so I think that helps. Using either of these or especially both is definately YMMV.

Someone let me know if it worked for you at Circuit City. (and you use it on a console game) I'll be surprised it if does
For anyone who's played Indigo Prophecy, is it worth $30? It looks really interesting but after being introduced to this site I hate paying more than $25 for a game unless I've been wanting it for ages.
If you love adventure games, it's defintely worth it. It took me only 8 hours to play through, but its jam packed with action. Because even the dialogue scenes are timed, you'll never feel bored scrolling through dialogue trees. The production values are excellent, and there are nice bonuses to unlock. If you only marginally like the genre, then wait for it to drop below $20 or just rent it for the weekend. But if you're an adventure fan, you really should pay up and show your support for potential future adventure games.
Went to our Best Buy. No REDs anywhere. Anyone sucessfully used a scan?
Yep. Used it to pick up Ninja Gaiden Black today.
for $15 after this coupon AND the $5 Gamers Gift Card Coupon.
Lucky bastard. Wish I could pull those strings all the time....combining coupons

You dont even know if the coupon will work for a game other than the PC ones. The coupon says for PC games

I'm going to giver it a shot on today. I have three games I'm looking at. Painkiller Black, Ninja Gaiden Black, and We fucking Love Katamari.

I'll probabkly etst the waters by trying Katamari.

Well, I just got back from BB. I ended up getting Ninja Gaiden Black. they had to do an overide to acept the coupon.

I do have a question. Does the coupon work properly for PC Games of $29.99 or over?

Now that I think about it, if I want to play WOW, now may be the time to stock up on two month cards.

So can I pricematch a fry's ad at Best Buy or Circuit City and then use the $10 off coupon? I'm hoping CC'll let me do it for Far Cry Instincts or something... anyway I wanna know.
Would they accept a B&W print of a coupon? I don't have a color printer here :)
The two times I've used it I've had B&W copies. As long as they can scan the UPC it should work.

I just came back from the Porter Ranch Best Buy where I tried to use a B&W printout of the scan (they were out of the RED magazine). The coupon wouldn't scan properly so the employee manually inputted the SKU. He then pointed out that the system identified the coupon as specific to PC games (I tried to buy Sly 3 for PS2). Strangely, he also pointed out that the system clearly identified the coupon as having expired on August 28. From that point, two managers came over and simply marked the coupon as a fake, and that was that.

that was that?? the coupons says its valid from 9/10/05-10/15/05. and it does say any game over 29.99. so as long as you're using it within the time frame and buying a game over 29.99---they should honor it. you're the customer --you should be right!

wait til i get there today and use it on DDR Exteme 2.
ooopss...i forgot...the brush fire. forget bestbuy then, i'll get the DDR at fry's

I'll probably try out a B&W scan tomorrow when I get more mula if I don't find a magazine in-store. I'm on the fence on if I should get We Love Katamari or Advance Wars DS though. Or should I wait until Castlevania? Ack, this is the reason why I hate fall... so many good games, so little money. :)

Don't know if there are any CAGs around Ann Arbor MI but they got these lots of things scattered all over(near registers and game department) the store on Lohr by Meijer. I picked up We Love Katamari with this thing. Also if you are in the area : the $5 off coupons work but they might need a manager as mine did, also they will not work unless the game is $5 and above so no free games(No $4.99.). One last thing to add, the BB clearance thingie : the games are on the racks upfront, not near the games, the games they had left were : Def Jam Vendetta, Spyro(Xbox one) and one other one for the Xbox(nothing good in general).

Ok I'm done, sorry to sorta hijack this thread.

They weren't out in the open though, they were on the shelves next to the ATI graphics cards. I didn't get to try it out though.

damnit...both my BB's dont have any...

anyone willing to cut out a few and send some my way via normal mail envelope? it would be greatly appreciated

You know you can just print out the scan and that works too, right?
You know you can just print out the scan and that works too, right?
some people have mentioned the scan being denied
some people have mentioned the scan being denied
I haven't read any of the posts stating they got denied because it was a scan... it was being denied because they weren't following the rules of the coupon (i.e not using it on a PC game, their game not being over 29.99).

Unless I missed a few posts, but the scan seems to work fine for most people.

The problem with arguing the still-valid dates printed in the text of the scan is that the BB managers claimed it was a fake coupon using an outdated SKU. I brought up the fact that it was supposed to be from the RED magazine they passed out in their stores but since they didn't have anymore to compare, there was no point in arguing that (and if they had more, I might as well have used the real coupon). So no matter what it said on the coupon they just pointed to the SKU ID in the computer system which indicated that it was an expired PC-only coupon.

The printed out scan worked for me. The casher gave me a slip that was manually written out. As long as they dont realize the PC game only criteria then you are fine. I got Ninja gaiden black for 21 dollars plus change.

Just got back and used the coupon on Painkiller Black. Works perfectly fine on PC games worth $29.99. SO don't worry about the "over" when buying a PC game of $29.99.

Just got my first coupon... question is, which is more likely to succeed:

1) Price match Fable from CC at BB and use coupon
2) Use coupon at CC
3) Use coupon on Lockdown or some other 29.99 console game (not sure what else there is that I would make worthwhile, I know most people don't like Lockdown)
Are the red magazines free?
Yep, they are just lying somewhere around the store. Its red with a picture of 2 people on the front.
you cant price match and use coupon.
Well, I know some people have, so its very YMMV, hence my debate. Luckily I think the Fable price (34.99) is done as of tonight, unless CC continues with that for some reason, so half my conflict my be resolved if I don't head out soon.

I found mine on the counter by Geek Squad/Customer Service.

Dopn't get Fable now. That price will drop like a stone because so many people have iot for Xbox. It'll drop in price just like Riddick did. After christmas it'll probably be less than $25.

Yeah, that was actually the conclusion I was coming to very quickly. In part because I know I probably wouldn't end up putting much time into it before it hit that price.

I'll mark the porter ranch ocation off my list then. I'll try and use one later at a different BB (I have 3 of them between me work and house) to pick up some DS games.

Awesome... Rome: Total War is 29.99 this week, this coupon will bump it down to 19.99, the price I've been waiting this game to hit for a long long time now.

Might as well get Painkiller: Black too, since the expansion is 19.99 alone and that's what I'll pay after the coupon for Black - plus I'd love to have everything on one DVD.

I figured I've been slacking long enough in getting Rise of Nations too, since that's still 29.99... man, this coupon is excellent, now that we know it works for PC games without an override.

Can someone post a printable scan of the coupon? It would save me the trouble of looking for this magazine in case it's out or something.

For me at least, there is a post of the coupon on page 4... well, here is the coupon again too...
