The $20 Best Buy Blu Ray coupon is YMMV... My story:
Got to Best Buy (Palisades Mall) at 10am. Found the lone copy of SuperBad. Couldn't find Pirates 3 or Ratatouille. Had a clerk check inventory, and they have 4x each. Still, he couldn't find them. This takes 20 minutes. I then grabbed two other movies just so I could use the coupon. I go to the cashier, and it doesn't take anything off. They ask me to go to customer service. Customer service tells me the coupon doesn't work because the Blu Rays are on sale (in their opinion, special offer = sale). I told them that it should have nothing to do with it being on sale. Annoyed, I ask them to scan three regularly priced Blu Rays to see if it works. It doesn't. They start telling me how the coupon is probably fake. I ask them to scan my reward zone card. They do, and now it takes the $20 off. I ask them to do it for an order including SuperBad and two regularly priced movies, and it takes the $20 off (just to see if it works). It does.
Its now 10:45am.
So we all agree that the coupon is legit, and it can work on sale items. I then tell them that I would like to only purchase SuperBad, Departed, and SpiderMan 3. They ring it up, and the coupon does not work. They start reading it for a fourth time and tell me that it won't work on sale items (forgetting it just worked on an order with SuperBad). They start laughing to themselves. Its now 11am. I tell them that I'm tired of waiting around, and that I'm going to call corporate. They told me thats a great idea, and even recite the phone # to me in a condescending way. I ask for their names, get them, and walk out.
Am I out of line to call corporate and complain about the following?:
1). Store inventory inaccurate
2). Employees unwilling to honor the coupon (they can override)
3). Daring me to call corporate
Thoughts? Its more principle than anything now.
