I completed maybe five different games all of last year. I want to be able to play and complete many more this year. It would be extremely satisfying to take a huge chunk out of my backlog in 2007. I think that 30 games for the year is a realistic goal (I hope to complete even more than that though).

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (2/11/07) - This is an incredible game. It is a bit on the easy side though. The end credits finished rolling right before midnight. I completed the game at around 66 hours. (If I am going to drop $40 dollars on a game, I make sure to get a lot of playtime out of it.) I took it slow and double checked a lot of areas to uncover as many secrets as possible. This is how it all stacked up in the end:

Dialhex (3/18/07) - After a few weeks of playing this on and off, I finally completed the Solo Mode. Its a fun puzzle game with awesome music. I will most likely continue to play it to raise my score in the Endless Mode. I'm really glad I imported it.

Wade Hixton's Counter Punch (3/29/07) - I beat this in a few lengthy sessions (put in about 8 to 10 hours). Fought every boxer numerous times and acquired all the special moves. This is a Super Punch Out!! ripoff, but it is extremely well done. It has some clever dialogue and a lot of polish all around. Thought the ending was pretty random but funny (similar to the rest of the game).

River City Ransom EX (4/12/07) - I have always heard great things about this game, but never got around to buying the NES cart. Fortunately, there was this updated version for the GBA. Most beat-em-ups are mindless, but RCR's rpg-like stat system kept it from becoming tedious by the end. I also thought it was pretty unique that you could build up your rep and gain allies throughout the game. I've beaten it twice now just to do that. I probably put in a solid 7 to 8 hours of playtime.

Drill Dozer (4/25/07) - BEST PLATFORMER EVAR!! Seriously though, this game is kick ass - a true AAA title. It completely sucks that Nintendo, in their infinite wisdom, decided to not back this game at all. It bombed at retail while the typical licensed GBA shlock sold well...what a shame. I went back through all the areas to collect the 31 treasures to truly "complete" it. While doing so, I was really tempted to throw my GBA at the wall a few times. The last two secret areas in particular can be very frustrating. Overall though, playing Drill Dozer for 20-odd hours was time well spent.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (5/22/07) - I finally beat this game after completing it all the way up until the last dungeon about 4 years ago. Excellent end boss battle and just a very cool ending to the story overall. I kind of regret not playing it all the way through -- I forgot a great deal about the game and felt slighty lost when I resumed playing. I do intend to pick it back up for a second playthrough sometime soon. I pretty much wore this game out though and did everything possible in it (played for 60+ hours). I missed ONE f*cking heart piece and could not figure out where it was. I also really want to complete the Nintendo Gallery as I am only a few pictures away from having every statue.

Contact (6/12/07) - This game has the honor of being the the first DS game I have completed. I sunk a little over 30 hours into some old school level grinding and sidequesting. First-class game with a lot of personality and replay value. (Flyboy suit FTW!) It is a unique RPG that I recommend to any DS owner.

Dragon Warrior I remake (6/18/07) - The assload of random battles coupled with a complete lack of a world map make it very easy to get lost in this game. Picked this back up after a long hiatus and it turned out that I was very near the end. Got my bearings and then promptly bitch slapped the Dracolord.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (6/25/07) - This seemed like an uninspired effort from Nintendo. It isn't a bad game by any means, but everything from course/kart design to the extra modes ("Mirror Mode" I am looking at you) just seem half assed. I really feel that the Mario Kart line of games are premier titles for the Big N and should be treated as such. Despite this entry feeling like a rushjob, I did have a lot of fun playing it.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (7/7/07) - OVER-RATED *CLAP-CLAP-CLAPCLAPCLAP* I don't know if this game could be anymore formulaic and monotonous. I had to seriously force myself through the last two cases of the game. "Case Five" was especially agonizing. The hype surrounding this series of games is unwarranted. Outside of the excellent localization and soundtrack, there is nothing even above average about PW: Ace Attorney.

SonSon (8/12/07) - Quickly played through this on Capcom Classics Collection Volume 1 with a friend and used many, many continues. Fun game.

Mercs (8/12/07) - Very enjoyable game that has held up well. Steamrolled through this with the above mentioned buddy while using a good deal of continues. It's a good thing arcade compilation discs exist because otherwise I would be broke-ass from the abundance of quarters necessary. I intend to blaze through it again sometime soon. I usually suck at old arcade games like this, but I love them all the same.

Black (8/19/07) - Finished this on "Normal" difficulty in about 13 hours. Criterion Games is the shit. Seriously, this game and the Burnout series have made me into a fan of their work. The best way I can describe Black is -- balls to the wall FPS action set to a backdrop of international espionage. If anyone feels the urge to massacre endless amounts of terrorist henchmen, give this game the ol' college try.

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (9/7/07) - Finally came back to this gem and beat the story mode. I intend to keep on playing the game's challenge and league modes to unlock all the multiplayer characters and cheats. FPS fans should give this game a serious look. TS:FP is a very well rounded game in all respects. It has a very good story mode and a deep multiplayer mode. I have yet to really try out the mapmaker tool, but it seems pretty awesome. The writing and voice acting for the game is top notch as well.

Final Fight (9/17/07) - One of the original beat'em ups. Completed this with Haggar on my own. This game can be a bear when eight enemies are bum rushing your character. I have no clue how many continues I used, but I am certain that Final Fight is much easier with a second player helping out. It hasn't aged very well, but it is still pretty entertaining.

Forgotten Worlds (9/17/07) - I love this game. This is now the second time I have beaten FW, but this is the first time I have done it solo. Crazy fun game with fantastic style. I am a big fan of Forgotten Worlds in all aspects even though I am pretty terrible at it. I intend to keep on playing until I can get through on three continues or less. October

Orbital (10/11/07) - I "finished" Orbital, but I am far from done with it. It is, without a doubt, one of the greatest handheld games I've ever played. In fact, it is so good that it has supplanted Tetris as my 'high score' game. It will be residing in my GBA SP for the forseeable future.

Metroid Fusion (10/16/07) - ME LIKEY!

New Super Mario Bros. (11/12/07) - I'm not sure how to regard this game. It was entertaining and I did play it for a pretty lengthy period of time (collected all but two of the Star Coins), but I didn't come away from the game feeling impressed. In my opinion, a few other Mario and non-Mario platformers do surpass it in terms of overall quality and fun factor.

Battalion Wars (11/15/07) - BW rounds out my top three most frustrating Gamecube games (F-Zero GX, Viewtiful Joe, Battalion Wars). It was gratifying to finally beat it after leaving my save file for dead on numerous occasions. I only opened up one bonus mission, so I might go back and play this a bit more in the future to unlock the remaining game content.

Captain Commando (11/26/07) - I usually like beat-'em-ups, especially by Capcom, but this one was truly weaksauce. My playthrough might have been more fun with two other people. Though, I have to admit that it is pretty cool that one of the playable characters was called, "Mack the Knife".

The King of Dragons (11/26/06) - Kickass game. I really want to play through it again, but I want it to be a co-op venture the next time around. I took down Gildess with the Cleric on my first try --- maybe I'll do it with the Wizard in my second attempt?

Gunstar Super Heroes (11/28/07) - I liked this title a great deal. It was challenging without being frustrating. I usually hate games that require you to replay levels to become better. It almost feels as if I am being punished in those instances by some developer with a sadistic streak. GSH was a totally different case, which speaks to its fantastic replay value. It is definitely one of the better run 'n' gun games I have ever played. I need to play its predecessor sometime soon to see how it compares.

Knights of the Round (12/5/07) - Had a lot of fun playing through this with the girlfriend. A solid beat-'em-up + quality time with the gf = EPIC WIN.

Magic Sword (12/6/07) - Also beat this with the girlfriend, although this was a lot less fun. Probably because we were playing it at some insane hour of the morning and the 50 levels in the game felt like they took an eternity to get through.

Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (12/13/07) - This is the very first Castlevania game I have ever beaten. Very addicting and all around great game. I'm going to try and run through the game again in 'Julius' mode soon. Can't wait to play through the sequel on DS.
