Damn, Warner could not even get the hail mary pass off... Well it was still an awesome game Congrats Cards for at least getting there after 60 years of futility. At least you got to the big dance which is more than I can say for my team that is now entering a cool century of crappiness.

Yeah I can't believe the refs didn't at least look at it. That was a Pepsgruber size fail on their part!

Yeah. fuck refs.

I keep watching the postgame melee on the field, and I think I want a job as one of those people in suits who forcefully pushed cameramen around. That's gotta be fun as hell.
Ben is a game manager who relies heavily on his defense. He has had one good game in the playoffs his whole career (the Denver AFC Championship game). Warner is the reason that his team wins when it does.
No, you misunderstood. I was talking about Ben's escapability, which he proved many times in this game. Unfortunately Warner wasn't so lucky.
What a bullshit ending. They should've reviewed that. That was a game changing play. You have to review that.
It was reviewed by the booth.

I thought it was a fumble. I was actually rooting a bit for the Cards (although I have no attachment to either team), but it wasn't meant to be.

Even without the fumble and add-in the dumb Farrior penalty, and Cards still have 29 yds to go in about 5 to 8 seconds. It was doable, but not a gimme.
It was reviewed by the booth.
They can't review in the booth, they just need to make the decision to review, which they should have.

...and now begins the hour long wait to watch The Office.

Cardinals got screwed, lots of real weak calls against them today. But they still win the game if not for the INT at the end of the 1st half, or if their D does anything on the last drive.

They said it was reviewed by "upstairs" (at least that's what Madden and Michaels were saying).
That was kind of an incomplete pass, but I guess the refs didn't want to bother taking a look like they did for Holmes' TD catch.
Well, the game was a bit rigged in favor of the Steelers. I don't think I've seen so many penalties in one game in long time, and so many penalties that shouldn't have been called.

CYA, my man. CYA.

I think the refs pulled the, "We'll just even it out with bad calls against the Steelers in the last quarter."

I think the calls were a wash. Cards didn't do what they were supposed to on Pittsburgh's offensive drive, and Warner can be prone to fumbling the football. He needs to get rid of the ball sooner. Once he's out of the pocket, I always cringe.

I thought the Cards would win the game at 23-20. My nephew was texting me, "Kurt Warner = god." :)

That was really really really quick though. It's like they didn't really even give it a second look.

I wonder how much money was lost to bookies this year since the Steelers couldn't cover the 7 point spread.

Also James Harrison needed to be kicked out of that game for what he did against Fransico. That shit was uncalled for. But, I can expect Goodell to hand him atleast a 25K fine.

There D kept Pittsburgh out of the end zone quit a bit. Oh well, I guess it will probably be another 60+ years until the Cardinals make a run again. To many personal fouls on the Cardinals.

There is no "Upstairs" review process in the NFL. Al Michaels is full of shit. That should've been reviewed, and if it was an incomplete pass, that ball's 15 yards further up the field.

Harrison was stupid. I think he should have been thrown out.

In the SB, a player needs to literally shoot another player with a handgun to be thrown out of the game, so I knew he wasn't going anywhere.

Yep some really bad calls. The Roughing the Passer was a really close call.

Also WTF was up with 3 Cards not being able to cover Holmes in the back of the endzone. I honestly can believe that shit.

There it is! The conspiracy revealed!!! Rooney just thanked Obama for the "support". How deep does this thing go?!

;)

Overall I thought there were a few 50/50 calls that all seemed to go against the Cards but they deserved all the holding penalties they got. Gandy was getting beat on every play and if he didn't hold Warner would've been destroyed.

I wish it hadnt have been close... gonna be more conspiracy theorists saying it was rigged so the Steelers would win... that last drive was magic

"Mike Tomlin, here's an opportunity to say something nice about the team that almost handed you your ass. Wanna give them a little credit?"

"fuck that. We're from Pittsburgh. When are we going to get another chance to celebrate something?"
Haha! Awesome!!
Thanks for posting it... that was quick!
Here's some outtakes that are pretty funny--

For all the ads.

Judging by the date on one of those (1999, and I'm not reading them), the rules are still the same that they always were. Upstairs initiates the call in the last two minutes. Meaning the coach cannot initiate a challenge by throwing the red flag, the people upstairs must initiate the call by signaling to the ref that they should look at the play.
The call to review was initiated, reviewed and upheld.

I guess people here would prefer no review at all to a "short review?"

Every SB ends in "controversy" because people don't like the outcome. Cards fell short. Period.

I thought roughing the place kicker was bullshit. The guy tripped. NO WAY that should have been called.

I didn't even know for sure the holder was part of the rule.

Must have missed that one. I'll look it up tomorrow.

The Cards player ran into the holder because he was too aggressive.

The call didn't cost the Cards the game, but I guess some people would be miffed by it.

No it wasn't, the referee never went "under the hood" (as far as I saw, can't rewind anymore), they were saying as though it was being reviewed and then all of the sudden they cut to the Steelers downing the ball.

There was no review. They do a preliminary look at the play and decide if it should be looked at further. They can't uphold anything if there's no review.

What they did for the Holmes TD catch was a review. What they did after the fumble was not a review.
I didn't even know for sure the holder was part of the rule.
I wasn't a 100% sure either, but it was probably one of, if not the, worst call of the night. Then again, there were several face masking calls they didn't call. This was definitely the worst refereed Super Bowl I've seen. Still, the safety was cool.

At least Mike Holmgren did.

This was the Best Super Bowl ever.
It was good, but no way it beats last year's.

No. Way.

*double shrug*

I was going by what they were saying on TV.

Regardless, at least 29 yds with 5 seconds left is no gimme. It didn't effect the outcome of the game. Were we robbed of a possible miracle finish? Debatable.

If the roughing the place kicker WASNT called the result would have been... a Steelers FG... which is what they ended up getting after blowing three more chances to get it in, the Steelers didnt take advantage then... like any game there were chances for each team... Steelers made it count in the end... Cardinals let a guy run an end of half INT for a TD... inexcusable
