On another note, congrats to the underdogs. Bulls pull out now the thunder do. Granted, the Lakers/Thunder game started off ugly. Both teams were missing easy layups. Durant went cold from shooting than got himself in foul trouble. Wasn't expecting that type of game in the playoffs... By the way Kobe went 10-29. He didn't shoot 40 times. In fact, he finally also passed the ball to others for a change.
By the time Kobe started to pass the ball in the fourth, he had already shot 1 for 8 in the quarter, including some terrible threes, because he wanted to prove Durant couldn't guard him. He's a significant reason they lost.
If you get a chance watch some videos of Rose or CDR in college. Chris Douglass Roberts perfected that awkward shot in his college career and Rose probably had it already but made it even better at Memphis. It would always scare me until it went in but by CDR's Junior year it was unstoppable.
i'll have to check some of this out on youtube. heck, i might see it first hand next year, their have been rumors going aroun for that last 2 months that the Bulls want to sign CDR for next season

I actually use a similar shot in my own game. It's damn effective and unstoppable. It always pisses people off who don't play with me often because they think i got lucky. I also use the classic Sherman Douglas one hand runner as well which is unblockable as well.

Man Abscess I'm a big Boston fan and I can't fathom putting KG ahead of Kobe. I mean I know all of the first round playoff exits weren't all his fault but I have to hold them against him at least a little bit. kobe has four rings to KG's one and PP was the driving force for that one IMO.

Oh hell, a Sherman Douglas reference? You sir, have won this entire thread :applause:
kinda sad

It's more sad that the Knicks are a fucking joke and the laughing stock of the league. I mentioned before why the Playoffs suck. The 1990's had all of the great rivalries and a contender in NY. Knicks/Bulls Knicks/Pacers and Knicks/Heat series all had drama, fights, game 7's and 5's in the first round. Those 3 matchups were the premiere games. Those teams always meet in the playoffs. Knicks and Bulls in 91, 92, 93, 94, 96. Knicks and Pacers in 93, 94, 95,98,99 and 2000. Knicks and Heat in 97,98,99 and 2000. What non NBA Finals rivalry does the NBA have now?

YAAAAA PIERCE! fucking horrible calls the last 6 minutes of that game to get Miami back into it. I hope Wade is okay though.

Boston versus anyone. You either love them or hate them.:)

Boston/Heat Boston/Hawks couldn't hold a fart to the epic Bulls/Knicks. Knicks/Pacers and Knicks/ Heat series.

Let's go back to the 80s. Boston vs Lakers. Boston vs Detroit.

the NBA has nothing in the playoffs now? i just can't believe that. I love watching playoff basketball. and as for your argument that there are never any good playoff series that form rivalries anymore....the Bulls and Celtics would like to disagree

Someone aside from Dirk has to step up for the Mavs. I read that the starting lineup aside from Dirk chipped in less than 20 last night. Shit is ridiculous. Dirk can't do it all and the supporting cast has to fucking do something. They don't even deserve to be called dogs considering how they have played.

That's not a rivalry. Call back when the Bulls are an actual contender.

Thank you. Lakers/Celtics was the top rivalry of all time in the 1980's. Nothing will ever top Magic vs Bird. The rivalries of the 2000's have flat out sucked compared to the rivalries of the 1990's. In terms of pure drama, competition and great TV the Knicks vs Heat 4 years in a row is better than any rivalry from the 2000's. Those series had at least 10 different storylines going on. Nothing today would beat Reggie scoring 8 points in like 5 seconds in 1995 at MSG or Larry Johnson with a 4 point play in 1999. Nothing today would beat the Ultimate Heel in Michael Jordan putting the dagger in Knicks fans hearts time and time again like he did from 1991-1996.

There is a huge reason why the television ratings are down and getting beat by a boring predictable NFL Draft. Hardly anybody in the largest media market in the world cares about the Playoffs. Diehard fans are going to watch but not the majority of every other Knicks fans. The only thing Knicks fans care about is July 1st right now. Plus the past 10 years of sucking has alienated and turned off alot of Knicks fans who just do not care anymore about the sport.

Too bad for Knicks fans. Every team has its ups and downs. For me, I've really enjoyed the Suns/Spurs rivalry over the past few years. And in the early 2000's the Kings/Lakers rivalry was great.

Yeah it's sad such a good player will never get a ring
Brandon Roy is suiting up just 8 days after a surgery they said normally takes 4-6 weeks to recover from. Not very smart imo.
Wow. I would really, really hate to see him create a worse injury because of this. It's not like the Blazers are title contenders this season. Not a smart move.

Well yeah, it sucks if you're a Knicks fans I guess, but truthfully, I didn't really ever give a crap about the Knicks. If you go back to those days, the Knicks were basically boring as hell compared to almost any team in the playoffs anyways. But yeah, I guess the Knicks need to get more people on the bandwagon to get higher ratings or something.

I went to the Bobcats/Magic game today. What a terrible way for a team to lose that game. The Bobcats had the Magic and they couldn't hit a shot to save their lives. Just awful.

I'm watching the Laker game now, but whoever the fuck this female announcer is that keeps repeating how she's never seen Kobe take only 2 shots in the first half is an idiot and should shut the fuck up. Her inane remarks are getting truly annoying. She's really pissing me off as an announcer. I wouldn't watch her announce a WNBA game, let alone an NBA game. I'm guessing the other announcer they had is sick or absent for some reason.
Yeah it's sad such a good player will never get a ring
Not really. It's more a shame that Malone and Stockton never got rings, but what can you do.

I was actually thinking the same exact thing. I can't stand women announcers, it just sounds so fake when there enthusiastic.

Oh and about the game... I Like how lamar odom talks a big game and then this is what he does. you never know if he feels like playing that day.
Not really. It's more a shame that Malone and Stockton never got rings, but what can you do.
Malone, Stockton, Ewing and Barkley all retired without a ring. Thats 4 dream teamers and 4 of the 50 best in NBA History.

fuck it. I turned the game off. The Lakers don't appear to care. The Thunder are winning one way: hustle. They're doing everything the right way while the Lakers watch the ball go by.

I just think in general, this female announcer they have on right now sucks. Her voice sounds like crap and is forcing me to watch the game on mute. I haven't heard a single bit of intelligent announcing out of her. I get better announcing from the worst announcers on wrestling programs

Also, I totally agree with you on Lamar. I would have preferred the Lakers had traded him at the end of last season, kept Ariza with the money the would have saved from letting Lamar go, and they still probably could have signed Artest. From all these years I've watched Lamar, it just feels like he phones in his game far too often. Don't get me wrong, I love him when he's actually playing, but he's just very overrated, and there's a lot of mid-tier talent I'd take over him who'd show more enthusiasm and hustle for the game.

Yup, I also thought of Barkley. I just thought I'd point out Malone and Stockton as two stars that were far more deserving of a ring that Dirk. Steve Nash deserves a ring before Dirk IMO.

The Thunder were running a dunk drill on the Lakers early on. The Lakers are pissing me off tonight by their just outright sloppy play, lack of care, and so many terrible passes. It's like they need Phil Jackson to take them back to basketball basics 101.

I'll third the Lamar talk. I love him when he plays with intensity, but you never know when that's going to be. The guy has all the talent in the world, but he just doesn't have it in him to be a great player day in, day out, which, now that I think about it, is a microcosm of the Lakers as a team.

I have disagree with that last part. I think the Lakers are solid team overall, with intensity and all that, despite Lamar, but they've been beset by injuries all season. I don't know if that's finally taken its toll on the team.

Portland and Utah would like to have a word with you about injuries and effort

Lakers out in the first round! I can only hope. Then again it would be great to see Kobe lose in the finals again.

The Thunder would be unstoppable if they had a big man on the court. If they can get someone like David Lee, Chris Bosh, or Carlos Boozer in the off season, I can see them dominating in the West for a few years.

I doubt she is Jeff Van Gundy awful.
I doubt she is Jeff Van Gundy awful.
Van Gundy has come a long way. Furthermore, he knows his shit. He's one of the most insightful announcers around in terms of understanding and explaining the nuances of the game. I have no problem with his announcing at all. Mark Jackson is the annoyance on that announcing team. he and Reggie Miller are, in my opinion, the most annoying male announcers. In fact, I'd rather listen to Doris Burke (the woman in question) than Reggie Miller.

Wade can't do it single handedly. Watching this game I'm starting to think he is in the same class as lebron. He has been carrying his team and made a big play everytime they have needed one. And heck unlike lebron he does have a ring

I think part of the problem is that Artest is playing pretty terrible. He's contributed nothing on offense.

One announcer that has grown on me this season is Kevin McHale. He's definitely above Reggie Miller, who I loved as a player but not so much as a commentator.

I do agree with BSB about Van Gundy. He and Mike Breen definitely make up for how much Mark Jackson grates on my nerves.
