2010-2011 NBA Season Thread
They're interviewing the guy that wore the LeBron Heat jersey to the Indians game on ESPN. Says he'll be at the Cavs-Heat game in Cleveland with the jersey.
And he plans on getting kicked out after 2 minutes and getting his ass kicked afterwards?

It'll certainly be more than just him at a Heat game.

RON ARTEST EPIC ESPN ARTICLE

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5417748

OPPONENTS DON'T GET UNDER YOUR SKIN?
Nah, I'm much more mellow now. I can control myself on the court. If I get fouled, I say what I gotta say and move on. I don't mind being punked anymore. If someone gets in my face, I just walk away. Against the Celtics in the Finals, Tony Allen got in my face, but I don't got the time for Tony Allen. Now, if you're a star and you're talking trash, I'll talk back. All series long, Paul Pierce was talking: "You're a bum, you can't score, you can't guard me, I'm busting your ass." Everything.
HOW WOULD YOU TRASH-TALK AGAINST YOURSELF?
Well, I guess I would try saying, "You're crazy," or "psychopath." I got called both those things, and worse, in the playoffs. Fans in Utah called me Osama Bin Ron and said, "You need medicine," but none of that fazed me.
OMG

WHAT ABOUT PHIL JACKSON? DIDN'T HE GET UNDER YOUR SKIN?
Yeah, that's true too. Phil Jackson is the only person these days who can truly get under my skin. And he gets under my skin 80% of the time. Phil totally controls me. In practice, he'll always joke about me and bother me, saying stuff about my shoes or whatever. All season, he'd say, "Ron can't shoot." But after Game 4 of the Finals, when we were tied at two, he changed his tune. He came to me and said, "Ron, I need you to play your game. You have to make plays." Oh, man. I was so happy! I called Derek Fisher and a couple of my friends and said, "Coach told me I could make plays! Boom! Let's go." What happened? I made plays. When my coach and teammates are behind me, there's nothing you can do to stop me.
NOW THAT YOU'VE WON A TITLE, DO YOU STILL HAVE ANY PERSONAL GOALS IN THE NBA?
I would love to get back to first-team All-Defense. I own defense. It's like my corporation. I'm the CEO and everyone else is just an employee. The fans and players know I belong. When you need a stop, who you going to call? Not the goddamn Ghostbusters, I'll tell you that. You call me.
:lol::lol::lol:

DO YOU STILL WANT TO PLAY FOR TEAM USA?
I want a gold medal so bad, I'd be the water boy. But they won't even let me try out! I've been trying to get on that team forever. Three years ago, I called Jerry Colangelo. He answered the phone. I said, "Hi, this is Ron Artest," and the dude hung up! At least let me try out. Give me a chance to represent the ghettos of America. Come on, Team USA! I don't have much time left.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON KOBE?
I thought you'd never ask. We'll be on the plane, playing cards. Kobe will walk up, stop the game and say, "Ron, come to the back of the plane." Then, he'll show me some tape and say, "Look at this. Here's what you need to do." I'll go back to my seat, and then he'll walk up to Shannon Brown, stop the card game and do the same thing. And it doesn't matter if you're sleeping. He'll wake you up and show you things you've never thought about. He puts so much time and passion into the game. I have no problem following somebody who's worth being followed, who works as hard as me. I will follow Kobe anywhere.
Freaking Kobe....:applause::bow:

WILL IT BE A LAKERS-HEAT FINALS?
Don't sleep on Boston, but I like Miami in the East. It would be an honor to face the Heat. I'll take LeBron. Kobe's on Wade. Gasol's got Bosh. It'll come down to Andrew Bynum. If he's healthy, we can't be stopped.
BRING IT!!!:boxing:

lebron returns to the Q on december 2nd. brawl at the palace part 2? im going to laugh my ass off if he decides to do the powder thing then gets showered in beer

Shaq needs to retire. Sad seeing the once dominant dude at the tail end of his career being a backup and going from team to team. Did he have any impact with the Cavs last season? To me it was like he wasn't even in the league. I don't remember him playing.

He really wasn't that bad, not enough to be the focus of the offense, but defensively and cleaning up the boards he was good.
Its likely 2 years at the veteran minimum so Sheed's contract is still in play.
I am hopeful about this. Shaq was decent last year before thumb surgery. A bit ironic that injury happened against the Celtics. Even though he would draw defenders in I think Rivers could work things out.
shaq signs 1 year deal with celtics. i like it, 4 hall of famers lead by an allstar PG to battle the new era miami heat.:)
Shaq just rented the entire top floor of the W Hotel in Boston. Probably costs more than what he'll make this year in Boston.

Woohoo!!! The Green Monster, the ShaqSham, the Big Leprechon, the Green Giant!

THE GREEN GIANT!!! He gave up green for green!

ESPN says it's a 2 year contract minimum of 2.8 million. So how would rotation work if Rasheed did not retire? Do the Celtics have 1 spot left on their roster now?

Are there any other players that have played for both the Lakers and Celtics? Is Shaq the first? Thats pretty huge if he is. Haha.

Hope he can take Big Baby and Perk under his wing this season and next. They could really benefit from it.
Rick Fox, Gary Payton, Don Nelson, Bob McAdoo, Travis Knight... And at least a few more.
I was thinking Payton, but the others I wasn't to aware of. Forget my post and move on. :)

Who do you think will end up starting until Perk returns? Jermaine or Shaq?

Depends on who they're playing but probably Jermaine. They could also give KG a day off and start JO at the 4 and Shaq at the 5.

Shaq will wear #36, first player to wear 36 with the Celtics.

On offense Shaq is a better match with KG than with Davis, but I like Shaq better with the other bench players than Jermaine. I should say that Jermaine probably fits better with the other starters though.

Baby Shaq and Shaq together on the same team. Wow!

I think Jermaine will most likely be second guy on rotation behind Perkins. I think Shaq is there more or less to help develop Perkins some more.

Celtics definitely doing a good job of retooling since Sheed's retirement. Hopefully the two O'Neals still have gas left in the tank

The C's are the new Raiders in terms having to at least be 32 to play for them. I am sure prunes are a part of every Boston contract. Joking aside, they are doing a good job this off season. Seriously, this is by far the best off season that I can remember.

Shaq and Jim Rome diss-fest, must read!

Shaq does a lot of things for the Celtics. They need bigs insurance, it helps them against Howard, gives them a mismatch against Miami, length against the Lakers, gives Perkins a lot more leeway with foul trouble, gives them another offensive option, and Shaq will have motivation to get a 5th ring and beat Kobe in the finals if they can make it that far. They may just use Shaq during the regular season until Perk is good to go, see where things are at, and get rid of him if need be.

Here's an article making an argument for starting Shaq over Jermaine.
http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/nba/columns/story?columnist=forsberg_chris&id=5440026

There are areas where Shaq hurts you, but he gives the Celtics 2nd unit an inside out game. The guy is still a great scorer in the paint and he'll be going up against other teams 2nd units or tired starters.

Dwayne Wade, "I understand people are going to say stuff. And we accept it with open arms,'' Wade said. "And even on the road, because every place is going to sell out when we come to town. So [opposing teams] can thank us now.''

Miami will play eight of their first 12 games at home, including a six-game homestand from Nov. 6-19. James will visit Cleveland as an opponent for the first time on Dec. 2, and again on March 29.

Roger Mason to the Knicks. Hopefully he can flourish, pick up his 3 point shooting after a down year last year and reign 3's at will in Coach Pringles system.

Carmelo is letting it be known even more so now that he wants to play in MSG 41 games a year plus playoffs.

I still laugh at Ledouches apology to Akron and Cleveland Cavs fans. Guy is beyond stupid if he thinks that they are ever going to ever forgive him.

Block Buster trade was made today. 4 team deal. Ariza to the Hornets, Collison to the Pacers, Troy Murphy to the Nets and Courtney Lee to the Rockets. Looks like CP3 is going to stick in NOH for the next 2 years.

So it looks like Carmelo is not going to stay in Denver. Come join the Jedi in NY, melo to fight against the 3 queens in Miami.

The biggest Queen needs to use locker room poster board articles to motivate him. I wonder what LeDouce used to motivate himself against the Celtics when he gave up, threw games and quit on his teammates, coaches, management and the fans of the Cavs?

Where does Carmello end up? Nets, Rockets, Knicks, Kings or T Wolves?

Mello is in a bit of trouble. He posted on his Twitter that he would give $5000 to anybody who hit some hoodrat and took pictures of it. The woman in question was talking ish on his Twitter and LaLa (Carmello's wife became offended). The woman in question has pressed charges and Mello's twitter was taken down and claimed it was hijacked.

Delonte West is back in Boston, 1 year at the minimum and non guaranteed. Word came out last week when he was apartment hunting in Waltham with LeBron's mom but now its official.

Rondo
Allen
Pierce
Garnett
Jermaine O'Neal (Perk)

Robinson
West
Daniels
Big Baby
Shaq

That 2nd unit is sick, unfortunately Delonte's suspended for 10 games so we won't get to see him in the opener vs Miami.

That is sick, while still retaining Rasheed's contract! How convenient that West gets to start playing the game after Boston's 2nd early match up against Miami... pushing West out of any game against Miami until February.
I am looking forward to all of the cat calls when a certain team heads into Boston.
The NBA has been playing with the crowd noise in Boston after we chanted pussy at Al Horford in the 08 playoffs.

According to the NYDailyNews, The Knicks turned down a 3 way trade that would have sent Anthony Randolph to the Pacers, Pacers #1 Draft Pick to the Blazers and Rudy Fernandez to the Knicks.

Those silly Pacers and Blazers. I wondered if their GM's had the balls to ask Donnie if he wanted lube as well as they tried to fuck him over.

Anyone else watching the Lakers VS Barcelona game right now? As good as a pre-season game ive ever seen!.:applause:

Some of the players on the Barcelona team obviously trying to make a name for themselves on this stage. Even some trash talking going on!

Barcelona going all out for this one. Kobe playing around 15 minutes so far. Lakers up 2 going into the 4th. Great game for the sport of Basketball.
