Whoever wins the allstar game gets homefield advantage for the World Series for their League for this year.

So if the NL wins, then the Indians will play the middle 3 games of the World Series at home. So they can win the whole shebang at home. :)
Anybody else feel like the Derby dragged on this year?
it was way to long. 3 1/2 hours and all i heard was Chris Berman yelling Back Back Back Gone. I wanted to shoot myself an hour in to it.

Very Happy to see Reyes attending the game and even taking some loose groundballs. Can't wait to see him back!

Edit:
BREAKING NEWS!

K'Rod and Cash traded to the Brewers for the alleged 2 players to be named later. Looks like Beltran is next since he is now open to a trade to a contender. i want to assume that we are no longer on the hook for his appearance incentive. Money Ball crew continuing to do work. i really wonder who will close now.

The Giants are offering to straight up take Beltran's contract.

That is crazy but the Giants could use a bat like Beltran. He has just been the business in the first half. If that is the case, im pretty sure Alderson will jump on that since he can put more money towards Reyes. The only obstacle would be the no trade clause Beltran has in his contract.

That would mean the Indians would have to sweep or only have one loss though. If they had homefield advantage, they could still win it at home. It's called game 6 and 7.

Yeah, but I have faith. :D

The Giants are printing money right now, and Beltran has come out publicly saying he'd waive the no-trade to come to the Giants.

Even B-Weez was pointing at the trade rumors during him announcing the line-up.

I wish the brewers would start shopping prince around. There is no way he is coming back next year, but no one is smart enough in the organization to realize that.

They're in contention for the division, I don't see why they'd be shopping one of their best hitters. Even if he signs elsewhere, he's likely to be a Type A free agent, so it's not like they'll get nothing for him.

Braves beat the Nats 11-1 for their 10,000 win in franchise history.

Solid game for Prado in his first game back after 5 weeks on the DL.

do you guys think the orioles should trade mark reynolds ? he haves 20 HR and about 50 RBI. i hope they dont, the most they will get back is some prospects. i know he hits for a low AVG but the Orioles haven't had a good power hitter in a long time.

I'd rather have some prospects than a mediocre (defensively and offensively) third baseman.

Also, I know it's the Mariners, but it's great to see Holland and Lewis tossing some quality innings these past 2 games. Thanks to Oakland for handing the Angels a loss tonight.

If the Orioles can dupe some team into giving up good prospects for Mark Reynolds, they should definitely do it. He's a pretty awful third baseman and his only real asset with the bat is his power. He used to have some speed but its seemingly evaporated in Baltimore.

BREAKING NEWS ! the orioles signed j j hardy to a 3 year extention ! ... well its not the best breaking news but it is news... lol

Yay, Giants make a decent trade! Jeff Keppinger to the Giants for Henry Sosa and Stoffel. Basically giving up nothing for a good clubhouse guy, decent hitter, and more importantly, better than Tejada/Hall, even though Tejada has had a good half month or so.

Well, my season is pretty much done. If we could get the offense clicking, we could be a good team. I wonder if Seattle will be dealing anyone before the deadline.

Will Venable, 519 career road AB:

.274, 19 HR, 85 R, 73 RBI, 30 SB

OPS of .800, wOBA of .347, wRC+ of 122

Carlos Gonzalez 725 career road AB:

.262, 20 HR, 97 R, 79 RBI, 35 SB

OPS of .725, wOBA of .319, wRC+ of 88

Basically, if your team trades for Will Venable, rejoice. You got a pretty darn good player.

The only nice thing about this piece of shit season is that it's confirmed that the best pitcher in the NL west (and maybe all of baseball) is Clayton Kershaw.
Wonder what the Pads can get for Bell.
If I'm trading with the Padres I'd rather have Mike Adams. Dude is absolutely lights out.

speed:

Yeah, Kershaw has improved a lot this season. More strikes with his stuff = great results.

Amazingly enough, he and Bumgarner have essentially the same FIP. Kershaw gets more K, Bumgarner walks fewer guys, but it's pretty cool to see two guys with a combined age of 44 pitching so well.

Well Stephen Drew is most likely out for the rest of the season, his foot was almost turned all around, looked nasty.

Edit: Yup, fractured right ankle. Surgery is likely.

Won't lie, I had to look away from the slow motion video, that really sucks. Even though the Diamondbacks are in the running with my Giants, it's still terrible to see a player like Drew be done for the rest of the season.

Yeah, I felt the same way about Posey.

Drew is a classy guy, it's a shame to see him have his season end like this.

this is Jason Kendall all over again. Man i hope it was a clean break at least which i would assume would heal faster.

i had to click out after the third replay. My stomach really hurts right now.

Kershaw has twice as many wins this year as Bumgarner.
Awesome, lost our 14th in a row. Where is our next win, I dunno.
Hopefully not tomorrow. ;)

I'd love if you could reel off 6 in a row after that though. :D

So... how about the 19 inning affair?

I, of course, tuned in right as it ended, but oh well.

It reminded me of the 26 inning game in Kinston(Indians High-A) earlier this year.

Worst. Call. Ever.

I hate everything Pittsburgh related, but that's not right. They got screwed.

Yeah I watched it on MLB.TV, what a ridiculous call. I like that the game was the first thing on MLB.com during the game, and then after that blown call there is no mention of it on the site. I was watching the Pirates broadcast and they went apeshit, rightfully so. What did the Braves broadcasters say?

Yeah, that was ridiculous. I don't care how late it is or how much you want to go home ump, you make the right fucking call, and it wasn't even close.
http://www.sportsgrid.com/mlb/video-wild-19-inning-game-ends-on-contentious-call/

I'd love to hear the Braves announcers reactions.
thanks for filling me in :)

And here is what the blind ump had to say

http://plus.sites.post-gazette.com/...-the-ump-speaks-jerry-meals-explains-his-call

here is what meals had to say

"I saw the tag, but he looked like he ‘Oléd’ him [like a bullfighter waving a cape at a bull] and I called him safe for that," Meals said. "I looked at the replays and it appeared he might have got him on the shin area. I’m guessing he might have got him, but when I was out there when it happened I didn’t see a tag.

"I just saw the glove sweep up. I didn’t see the glove hit his leg."

Im just wondering how close do you have to be to see a tag lol.

This umpire just made himself into a horse's ass on the world stage. He's now trending on twitter, and has people harassing his family's phone. Sadly, his house is probably 30 minutes from me. (I'm not doing anything though, especially since I'm a Tribe fan)

EDIT: here's the best one I've seen on twitter so far: McDonald's is going to create combos of floor food and call them Jerry Meals. #jerrymealssaysitssafe

Ervin Santana has a no hitter through 8.

One out in the 9th.

Two out.

Now three out. Angels 3, Indians 1. Cleveland's single run came on a wild pitch. Santana had 1 walk and 10 Ks.

Best no-hitter of the year for sure. Dude was throwing 96 from the stretch in the 8th, and hit 96 a couple times in the 9th, too. He's starting to look a lot like he did in 2008; if the Angels can catch Texas they'll have a really strong postseason rotation.

what do you guys think about colby rasmus and edwin jackson being traded ? i think the rasmus deal was good for toronto and the jackson deal was so so for st louis.
