2011 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs - Boston Wins!
I'm deeply disappointed that the Flyers changed their goal scoring song. Bro Hymn was an outstanding choice.
Dude me too! I have that shit as my ring tone though and play it whenever they score (and I'm watching at home).

It would've been amazing if Chicago had won. I don't think Vancouver's going to make it to the Cup Finals though. San Jose/Detroit winner will go from the West.

East Coast Scenarios
#1 - Washington v. Pittsburgh / Philadelphia v. Boston
#2 - Washington v. Tampa Bay / Philadelphia v. Boston
#3 - Washington v. Montreal / Philadelphia v. Pittsburgh
#4 - Washington v. Montreal / Philadelphia v. Tampa Bay

If I had to wager a guess, scenario #3 is probably going to happen.

so you're saying Montreal and Pitts win tonight.

I think Pitt but I don't know about Montreal.

A road team hasn't won a Game 7 yet. It always happens. Now it'd be nice if Boston won so they'd lose to Philly in Round 2, but I just have this feeling that Thomas is in for another bad game tonight.

Kinda pissed the games are so close together tonight. The Penguins/Lightning will be joined in progress for me when I really would rather watch that one in it's entirety.

Well, guess who's a game time decision? The answer...not surprising.

As a Caps fan, I want Pittsburgh to win tonight. Having said that, I expect the Lightning to win because of this.

Broly, I know you posted the possibilities for Eastern Conferences semis, but what are the scenarios (at least for the Caps) of "if X wins, we'll play Y" or if "Z wins and Y loses, we'll play X"? Can I find that online anywhere?

If Pittsburgh and Montreal win, Washington plays Montreal
If Pittsburgh and Boston win, Washington plays Pittsburgh
If Tampa Bay and Montreal win, Washington plays Montreal
If Tampa Bay and Boston win, Washington plays Tampa Bay

So, 50% chance they play Montreal, 25% chance they play Pittsburgh or Tampa Bay.

EDIT: Here's the Philadelphia prospects

If Boston wins, Philadelphia plays them
If Montreal and Pittsburgh win, Philadelphia plays Pittsburgh
If Montreal and Tampa Bay win, Philadelphia plays Tampa Bay

50% for Boston, 25% for Pittsburgh or Tampa Bay
Going to Game 2 of Red Wings @ Sharks. Can't wait!
Thats awesome! That will be an amazing atmosphere. I was at the Lightning vs Penguins game 6, it was awesome. I really hope the bolts win tonight as I would love to go to another one. GO BOLTS!!!!!

I think the Capitals are going to have an extremely tough time against them. I was at the game in Tampa on March 7th where the Caps won in the shootout. They got extremely lucky in that game.

There's one game tomorrow for Round 2. Vancouver v. Nashville.

Round 2 Predictions:
San Jose over Detroit in 6
Vancouver over Nashville in 5

Boston over Philadelphia in 7
Washington over Tampa Bay in 7

Pens gone? fuckING AWESOME.

San Jose over Detroit in 7
Vancouver over Nashville in 7

Boston over Philly in 7
Washington over Tampa Bay in 7

Ya know, as exciting as the 1st round was, it's pretty funny that the only "upsets" were both #5 seeds beating the #4 seed. Otherwise, all the teams that "should have" won did. It just wasn't easy for several of them, haha. Oh well. Pulling for Nashville now because nobody expects them to do anything.

True, but the way the teams that "should have" won was truly exciting.

Definitely one of the most exciting opening rounds I've ever seen.

Roloson & Fleury were both outstanding last night. Yzerman looks like a genius & good for Tampa. They got a new owner who isn't broke who brought in the right people to make the right moves and it's paid off. As much as I can't stand the Pens

They're the Spanish Inquisition?

I'd make some hybrid Darren Pang/Cardinal Fang referrence but I'm just too tired.

San Jose over Detroit in 6
Vancouver over Nashville in 5

Philly over Boston in 7
Washington over Tampa Bay in 6

Sharks > Nucks in 5
Caps > Flyers in 6

Caps > Sharks in 6

Fixed that for VIPFreak

If the Caps faced the Flyers, I would feel really good for the first time in the Playoffs.

Honestly though, I've played out the Tampa series a million times in my head, and 95% of the time it goes to Game 7. The other 5% one team sweeps because of Games 3 and 4 being on back-to-back nights.

Tampa Bay over Washington in 7
Boston over Philadelphia in 6

Canucks over Predators in 5
Sharks over Red Wings in 3*

book it.

*During game 3 Douglas Murray will check Pavel Datsyuk so hard that he goes into a coma. This results in the rest of the Red Wings having heart attacks in shock and/or falling into severe depression. Red Wings prospects are too intimidated to be called up and the Red Wings have no choice but to forfeit. Mike Babcock is so stunned he can't speak for 4 months and only can get small sentences out after months of therapy. Next season the Red Wings miss the playoffs because Datsyuk still hasn't woken up and Babcock can't articulate a gameplan

And so the second round begins in less than one hour.

Not sure how the Canucks are going to respond seeing as how we just came off one of the most emotionally draining games I've ever see. If Nashville wants to steal one of the first two games, this is the one that would be ripe for the picking!

Since you all made your predictions I throw in my two cents:

Vancouver over Nashville in 6
San Jose over Detroit in 7

Washington over Tampa Bay in 5
Boston over Philly in 6
