...But with CC going in game 4, that's about as comfortable as you can be down 3-0...
I agree with this, Detroit fans such as myself still aren't home free quite yet.

Had the offense showed any signs of life last night I would buy it, but this series will be over in 5.

Let's hope so! (I would also accept four.;))

Well, for Girardi, I think it's just the idea of trying to buy some time and HOPING that the bats just wake up somehow. It's incredibly daunting that CC has to basically win the game single handedly though (like others said, might as well let him hit too).

I just hope no "Fire Joe Girardi!" nonsense pops up after tha Yankees are eliminated. Sure, every move he's made hasn't been perfect. But he's dealing with half a lineup that basically refuses to play the game the right way. He can yell at them until he's blue in the face, but he can't make them have good at bats.

They can fire Kevin Long if they want...but I don't see the point in that either. These are professional hitters. They've been doing it all season. They know what they need to do. They didn't just forget how to play all of a sudden. They're trying to do too much. They need a therapist more than they need a hitting coach.

I'm fairly certain we pull this out tonight. CC has been fantastic for us so far. Plus, the bats come alive when he's on the mound.

Some changes will have to be made and I think Long is the guy to go. He is the hitting coach afterall.
Time to stop playing MLB 2K12.
People play 2k12 when The Show is out in the market? That is an awful choice.
People play 2k12 when The Show is out in the market? That is an awful choice.
Some people don't own PS3s.

Damn...Girardi is out for blood. The game got postponed, but he already planned on benching A-Rod and Granderson. I'm really loving the "If you're not going to give an effort, get the fuck out of here" attitude. It's too bad the team wasn't put together with that mentality, or this team probably wouldn't be facing elimination right now. Lets really turn the heat up and get Paul O'Neill in as the new hitting coach. "You don't wanna move the runners over....DIE WATERCOOLER!!!!!"

Reports are also coming out that the Yankees are more than serious about trading A-Rod to Miami if the Marlins can figure out a way to get it done. That's insane. I'd love to see it. Just straight Nomar his ass out of town. It's also looking like it was true that he was more concerned with hitting on women in the crowd in Game 1 than actually hitting the ball. Yankee personnel have confirmed that he had a baseball sent up to these women for them to write their numbers on. Stay classy, Alex.

There's no scenario A-Rod is back with the Yankees next season. I'd go as far to say that if they somehow ever win this series down 0-3, he wouldn't even be on the roster in the WS.

This goes beyond a baseball decision. There's more going on here. How can you sit a legendary player for another guy who is 0-14 this postseason and made a huge error last night?

They will probably have to pay $70 of his contract, but whatever. I'd rather that then see 5 more fucking years of him.

It just amazes me that he always acts so clueless about why nobody likes him and everyone thinks he doesn't give a shit and has no heart. Gee...Game 1 of the ALCS, you've been struggling all postseason, and you're more interested in finding your hookup for after the game. Seriously! He can't be that fucking stupid.

Over here there are rumblings of the Phillies possibly trading for A-Rod. To be honest, he wouldn't be any worse than what we've been working with at third for the past couple years, but I'd prefer he not bring his stink over here.

They want to get OLDER?! LOL

Yeah, it's super counter productive and we only need a 3B for a year or two while Cody Asche in the minors develops a little more.

But he's going to break Barry Bonds' home run record. You know you want in on that. ;)

A-Rod still has a ton of money on his contract and the Marlins are cutting payroll. How in the hell would that trade work, even with New York paying a substantial amount?

Glad to see the Yankees out, and Tigers moving on since they're the only one of the LCS teams to have not won a title recently.

Can't blame CC. He pitched phenomenal in 2 out of 3 games. Can't blame Girardi. He made every move he could possibly make and then some. This embarrassment falls 100% on the hitters. I wonder if this is the fewest amount of hits a team has ever gotten in a 7 game series. Every single game was complete and utter futility by that lineup. I love what Nick Swisher did for the clubhouse, but I hope the team laughs his contract demands right out of town. As for A-Rod, as much as I'd like to be rid of him, when the team has to eat 80% of his contract, I really don't see the point. So you save 20%...wowee... It would really say a lot for what a team cancer he is if they get rid of him at that cost.

Didn't watch the game, but I am happy to see that Barry Zito was able to put together a quality start. It's pretty amazing that he has finally started to come back around a little bit. He never is going to be Oakland Zito again, but he looks like he still has the ability to get things done.

Something I posted on another forum. Kenny Williams is not the brightest GM and may be looking to "upgrade" Chicago's 3B. How far fetched is....

Chicago picks up Peavy's and Youk's options. Chicago deals them to New York for A-Rod, Nova, Phelps. Yanks pick up 50% of A-rod's contract and fully pay for Youk and Peavy.

Kenny gets A-Rod, only on the hook of half his salary and two cost controlled starters. Cashman saves close to 60 mill, receives a legit middle of the rotation starter, A-Rod replacement. Pays a shit ton of money for them but only on the hook for one year.

Do I need to take my pinstriped color glasses of? Or is this not so crazy considering what Coletti did?

That's a terrible deal for New York. I want no part of Youkilis who would be disliked even more than A-Rod in that clubhouse, and Peavy is one injury away from retirement. Meanwhile, the Yanks give up on Nova jsut because he had a bit of a sophomore slump? I'd rather have Nova over Peavy...and as horrifying as it sounds, I'd rather have A-Rod over Youkilis.

That's pretty ridiculous. Would you really rather have A-Rod for the next five years, paying 110 of or mill or Youkilis on a one year, 14 mill stop gap?

It's hard to believe but Peavy is only 31. Nova is a basket case, don't want to see him start for New York.

I guess if your end game is just to get out of A-Rod's contract, that's fine. But if you're paying 50% of it and STILL having to pay for underperforming (most likely) players in Peavy and Youkilis, I don't really see what you're gaining. It's just like the idea of trading A-Rod to MIami. If you're only saving yourself $15-20 million, what's the point? You're basically paying for another team to have him. I'd love to be rid of A-Rod too...but not at that cost.

Getting rid of A-Rod's contract and paying 50% means saving $55 mill or so. Youk and Peavy play premium positions, just look at the free agent market for 3B and SP. They immediate plug in two holes in the Yankees roster.

Speaking of Miami, how interesting would a Bell + Hanley for A-Rod swap look right now....

Yeah, they'd pay 50% for A-Rod...but then they'd be overpaying for Peavy and Youkilis, so I don't really know how much I'd say that helps. As for Miami, yeah...I'd be way more interested in that deal.

Cards are shitting the bed early trying to close this out. 0-5 with a scoring run off a Kozma error. And it's only the top of the 3rd inning. We might see game 7 if they don't recover fast.

Not sure if you just haven't seen it yet for some reason, but Hanley plays for the Dodgers now(and has been since July) and Heath Bell just got traded to the Diamondbacks.

On another note, Arod will not waive his no-trade clause and I doubt anyone in the majors would want Arod even if the Yankees paid half of his contract.

Hope they do see a game 7 and Cain shuts them out, that'd be pretty OK.

edit: Has any team ever come back twice like the Giants might do this year?

I'm too young to remember the 85 World Series (was 6 at the time) and obviously not born for the 68 WS, but dammit I lived through the 96 NLCS (blew 3-1 lead to Atlanta) and dammit I don't want to see this again! Come on Cards let's go!

I hope the Card can get their heads out of their asses, but I don't see it happening. I will be surprised if they win.

Time to stick a fork in the Cards. After that joke of a wildcard game, I'm glad to see them get their asses kicked.

fuck all the Demon Birds from the West of the Mississippi

fuck all the Cardinals

Thank you Giants, for cooking them in their own juices.

Happy to see the Cardinals choke the 3-1 series lead away.

Pulling for the Tigers in the series just because they haven't won a WS in a long time. Nothing against the Giants though, so I'm pretty indifferent.
Not really interested in watching the Giants vs. Tigers so looks like I'll pass on watching the World Series this year.[/QUOTE

Same here.

Wow! What a comeback in this series by the Giants. I just hope the Tigers aren't out of sync from the off time. Hopefully they are rested and ready to go. C'mon Detroit!

I just got home from game 7 (left the stadium about an hour after the game, holy shit long muni and bart ride, then the almost 2 hour drive back to Sacramento). Friend called me at work at 1PM and told me to tell my boss I had to go because he got awesome tickets (Holy shit section 129 row 16 right where the Giants bullpen is) as a birthday present to me (officially 27 as of 2 hours ago!). Drove to Heyward, got there at 3:45pm, got to bart, got to the park and into our seats right before first pitch (We skipped about a thousand person line because he got into a motorcycle accident about 2-3 months ago and had to take the disability entrance that wasn't really a disability entrance).

Sorry, this makes no sense, I'm still pumped up, lets just say I've been to about 100-150 baseball games in the last 20 years and this one was by far the best one.

Happy birthday dude. What a great birthday present.

Really glad the Giants pulled off the win.

Makes this World Series a helluva lot more interesting to watch!

Let's go Giants!

Being from the St. Louis area I have to say I'm not surprised the Cards blew it. St. Louis teams seem to do one of a few things. They win like the Cards did last year, they have the lead only they end up blowing it or it is a sweep. In this case they blew it. I hope to see the Giants win the WS as it would be a little easier knowing they put the Cards out. Hell I think I'm the only one in this area that knew this would happen after game 5.
