Got my first mess up ever from gohastings today
Got my Christmas Carol 3D and Gulliver's Travels 3D today--except the Gulliver's Travels is the 2D version. Neither came with slipcovers, though both contained the digital copy codes (no idea if already used or expired).
They are giving me full refund for Gulliver (don't have to send back). Had to reorder the 3D one myself (still in stock) and they will adjust my price back to the LEAPYEAR sale price once it ships.
Yep, I would save my money on Immortals.

The 3D isn't Conan level bad but it's like the director put all the effort in all the main scenes and there is very little going on in the rest.

And the movie is dull, I am a little worried about the new Superman because this guy was the worst action hero in a movie I have seen in a long time.

And making the Titans, 5 foot zombie/stone looking guys is something they would do in a live action play, not a major movie.
Only the producers of 300 made Imortals. Superman and 300 were made by a totally different director.

I know.
But the star of the Immortals is playing Superman, hence, the worry.

The producers didn't make him the bad actor he is in this film.

I reordered mine too as they refunded me and told me to keep the useless rental copy too. Hopefully they don't send me another 2d version lol

I got it anyway. I'm collecting 3d blu's now and since i have most of the big hollywood ones to this point I will just continue to get the 1 or 2 a week that are released. It's certainly cheaper than buying 10 or 12 2d ones a week like i used to :p

I got my used Green Lantern 3D from Hastings yesterday. I guess I got lucky. The holographic slip cover was included, and everything is in mint condition, all discs were there. The Ultra Violet code was also in there, although I don't know if it's been used already. I haven't redeemed a digital copy code in a long time, so if it already used, no biggie for me.

.....the movie is dull?! Idk what movie you were watching, but it's one of the best films I've seen in a long ass time- and I watch a lot of movies. And I have no idea what you're even talking about referring to the Titans? How were they 5 feet tall zombie/stone looking guys? The movie is very pleasing to the eye in my opinion and Henry Cavill is a great actor and I thought he was perfect for the role. He's also great in The Tudors. And maybe the director didn't want to focus all their energy on the 3D and instead wanted to make a great story. I'm sorry, but when I pay to see a film I'd rather be more impressed with the acting, dialogue and graphics then what it looks like in 3D.

He was probably watching the same movie that all these people watched.

Trust me, I went in wanting to love it.
One review I read summed it up perfectly...
The main character, the guy you are supposed to root for, if you took him out, it barely would change the movie.
He had no bearing on the film, the Gods did all the work and needed to save everyone's ass.
I don't even blame the lead, he did what he could with what he had to work with.
And back to the Titans. Watch the trailer for Wrath of the Titans. That may turn out to be a crappy movie but guess what? Those are Titans.
Not 5 foot grey guys standing around.
They should be the size of mountains.
$10.94 plus shipping now.
Shipping was under $3, so for $14, with the DVD copy and the 2D/3D BD, it's at my buy price. In 4 1.

Freida Pinto was the best thing in Immortals and that was it. The 3-D was pretty meh and the story was woefully undeveloped...seemed like half of it was Mickey Rourke mumbling, torturing or maiming someone. Not a fun time, and I also agree -- Wrath of the Titans looks far more entertaining.

I just got a surprise review copy yesterday --and I'm glad I didn't pay for this. :) I wasn't a fan of that washed out look of 300--but I didn't get any of that with Immortals. I thought it looked really good, and the 3D was used well to add depth to the scenes. But the story is a mess and they seemed to prefer making it artsy over making the story coherent. It got better in the second half and some of the battles were entertaining--just don't expect much plot-wise.
I got Conan 3D at a pawn shop today for $6, was it worth that?
Are you kidding
No, just heard it wasn't very good. I figured it was worth that though.
I think his reaction was "It's 6 bucks for a 3d blu, so do you really have to think it over?"

I tried to watch HUGO in 3D. I thought the 3D was great....opening scene with the snow was amazing. However, I found the movie horrible and I shut it off.

yea, i hear mixed reviews about the movie. some ppl say its good some say its boring. I was tempted to buy it on 3D bluray but i just cant get into boring movies. i hold off on it. most likely not my type of movie.

I, too wasn't all that impressed with the film--3D was nice, but found it kind of boring. Plus, I find it odd that I'm watching a 3D film praising all of these early films that have such crappy special effects--I just couldn't muster up that kind of enthusiasm.

It gets good towards the end. I liked it more with repeat viewings. It's a kids movie so judge it off of that.

I picked up Hugo from Walmart and Tintin from Best Buy today, I still have yet to watch my Dark of The Moon 3D yet though.

I'm gonna watch Tintin tonight though, girlfriends daughter should be happy.

I just watched MY SOUL TO TAKE in 3D on HBO ON Demand it was bad I didn't like it in 3D

I have 3 3d tvs and all of them had bad cross talk in hugo. This is the first movie I have seen it in. Anyone else seeing that? For example near the end where the old guy is standing on the stage look at his lapels on his tux

Yeah, the movie was not good. At least it was free for me.

I noticed a TON of crosstalk in Fright Night. Also the movie was very dark..but, whatevs.

IMO Harold and Kumar is still the best 3D blu I've seen.

I didn't think Fright Night was too bad, but I anticipated crosstalk due to the dark nature of the film so maybe my antici...pation made me forgive it much more than usual. I guess, now that I think about it, the dark scenes in Resident Evil were less crosstalk-laden.

I'd probably watch a lot more 3D content if it weren't for the crosstalk and I've decided that I'm not going to buy another 3DTV until I get to demo one that can display full HD in 3D with absolutely NO crosstalk. Oh, and a price tag under $1000 is also a must... so I think it's gonna be a while.

It's odd that anyone experienced crosstalk on Fright Night heavily or at all really. I only seen a minor instance of it and that was when he was under the car and punched his hand through the floor.

Yeah that's why I am not mad it was free for me too. I got HBO for 3 months

Hmm...I have a Sony HX800 55", maybe I was just sitting at a weird angle. I'll try it again sometime.
Hmm...I have a Sony HX800 55", maybe I was just sitting at a weird angle. I'll try it again sometime.
Let me know how it goes.
i thought crosstalk was totally subjective to viewing angle and how far apart the user's eyes are.
The width of one's eyes has nothing to do with it, as that would only have the potential to make the parallax seem off to a viewer with significantly wider or more narrowly set eyes.

AFAIK crosstalk is generally caused by a lack of "perfect" sync between the viewing monitor and the LCD shutter glasses (obviously only affecting active setups and therefore making them more prone to crosstalk) or the darkness of the activated lenses on one's shutter glasses not being sufficient enough to block out the entire image to the "wrong" eye.

In a passive setup it would most likely be caused by the polarization between the monitor and the glasses not working sufficiently and would have much more to do with viewing angle than on an active setup.

If anyone truly knows their stuff, please feel free to correct me.

You've pretty much got it right, especially with the 2 parts to Active glasses.

As far as passive goes, it's similar to active- the glasses just can't block out all of the light meant for the other eye. Passive filters can be "tight" which allows very little light through, but it's all polarized closer to the angle. Or they can be loose, which allows more light through, including that which is off angle (potentially meant for the other eye). And everything that affects the light wave will depolarize it a little. Dust in the air. The air itself. It happens.

There's no such thing as "no crosstalk" when one screen is showing 2 images. There's only "not enough crosstalk to notice" or rather, "below human perception". But there's always some.

interesting. I was reading about it on an A/V forum the otherday and they were saying it was subjective and the result of viewing angle, distance from screen, etc, etc. It makes much more sense that it is based in the hardware though.

I picked up Smurfs 3D through Amazon Warehouse for $18.58 last night. Said it was in Like New condition so it sounded like a good enough deal for me.
clash of the titans 3d blu is 14.99 @ bb this week and comes with 8 dollars movie cash to see wrath of the titans
I thought the 3D version didn't come with the movie cash...
