3D Dot Game Heroes - Out Now - Relive your 8-Bit childhood.

I'm getting release day delivery from Amazon; $26.99 for the whole shebang. I already have way too many games to play, but this looks so good.

I hope I can find a template for a good Link before I start, but I guess I can change my guy at any time.

The only things I'm worried about with this game are the difficulty and the fact that you can miss key items in dungeons and you don't get any warning for doing so.
 
im making Flame's Link......again.....hopefully tomorrow. If the option exists that I can upload it to this site, I really don't care who grabs it.

I'm hoping to make at least 3 sprites before I even start playing. He called dibs, so its getting done

It will basically be ver batim, minus the extra column on the shield so its congruent. I'm also thinking about making his body less cube-like, but I'll see how that goes
 
i made the flat sprite 100% accurate, then put my spin on things like the hat, hands, and feet.

I think my 2nd version will have the middle of him match the old sprite, so dead on he looks the same, but from different angles it would look less like a box-figure-link
 
I'm looking through the posts and not finding it, I could be having a moment of stupidity. What is the link to the 3D Designer site? I'd like to start putting together my sprites as well.

I am gonna make my character a Black Mage. :)

The site on which you design the characters has no interaction with the game, right? Like you can't create a character on the site and sue it in-game, can you?
 
Does anyone know of a website where we will be able to browse through people's created characters? It would certainly be nice if there was a site like that, I'm sure there will be about 50,000 created characters by tomorrow night.
 
kurrptsenate - Awesome work on all of your sprites! One thought on Link, would it possible to make the front half of him 3D? Cause the back looks amazing, and the front looks just like the 2d sprite, but its just flat and not 3D. But again, excellent work. :applause:

And my order from Amazon shipped this morning, cannot wait to finish work tomorrow!
 
Played with the creator...difficult!! Tried making what's his face from Splatter house (didn't attempt to finish and put legs on him):

yea, thats actually what I planned on doing. Id have to actually subtract blocks for a 3D look as the back of link is all the way to the edge, as well as the front shield.

You can believe it will look as good, if not better.

the real question is, who am I going to play the game as...:bouncy:


I uploaded all my imgs to photobucket where they give you a link with the IMG tags already there
 
I'm doing an iphone app right now and might as well convert my pizelated trees into this game... playing as a tree might be fun. I might do a walking tree with a bird in it
 
I saw a link during a Google search that said you could download created characters to a flash drive and transfer them that way. The instructions were all in English... but the link was to the Japanese site. And, of course, the U.S. site only has 5 created characters, because very, very few people in this country own the game yet. I just don't think I'll be able to create a good Link... I suck at drawing things on computers/video games.

I've got a stuffed one on my desk. It made it based on him. I plan to work a bit more on it, and maybe use it if I can't make something from Half-Life 2.

I may just play Heavy Rain while I am waiting for 3D Dot Game Heroes to get to me. I am practically done with LBP (all single player levels, GOTY content, and pirates pack.... I also played a bunch of user created levels).
 
Got the text from GS yesterday that my store will have it in the PM today. I'm assuming most people got this text, though I prefer the call from "Ashley" that they used to have :p.
 
Just went by the store and picked up my copy.

Gotta love the clerk's remark: "Yeah, it's suppose to be like Zelda, which is the only reason I'm picking it up."

You would think he would have a more intelligent comment than that.

Too bad I can't play it until this weekend probably as I'm still finishing up FFXIII (just started Chapter 12).

I dunno about that. The Gamestop I go to has been very jazzed about this. The manager and I have already been plotting our characters and what we plan on doing with the game. With Gamestop, it's always a dice roll on service, AS IT IS EVERYWHERE.
 
I tried my hand at the editor, not terribly creative but I had my fun:

I obviously ran out of room for the rest of the hat, but you get the idea. I could've probably taken out one pixel from the bottom of the legs, but I actually started from the bottom up so I didn't really feel like re-doing everything over again. I hope the in-game editor is a little more flexible because using the flash designer was a little frustrating.
 
The in-game creator is great. You can mass create blocks, you can move rows, all kinds of stuff. Real easy to use. My Domo is awesome :D

Whatever you do, DON'T ATTACK THE CHICKENS :D I barely made it out with my life. I wound up hiding in a house for a bit, cuz I left the screen and came back, which made them go away in Zelda, but not in this. They came back and pecked at me more :D

Thats actually really good, but I wish you would have made his face well rounded like his body. very nice noce the less. Id suggest taking one row out of his torso, and maybe one out for the legs to do the hat
 
I have my copy coming from Estarland, but was in best Buyw itha buddy today.

They do not have it at all, supposedly on backorder for our entire district acros ~20 stores...

They have 8 on order, but said the DC doesnt even have it in stock.

Pretty crazy, good to hear gaemstop has it and Amazon is shipping already.
 
Mine got delayed because Amazon didn't fix my CC issue that I had when I preordered it in Feb. Now it looks like they are having the same stock issues that everyone else is having so mine won't ship until the 17th (so much for pre-ordering huh? :roll: )

Least I know the game is selling well, plus I'm in the middle of Just Cause 2 anyway, so it doesn't matter, but it is a bit frustrating is all.

my buddy (who is in missouri) said his best buy wont get it in until thursday. i got mine at toys r us here. used my $40 gift cards from various giftcard promos they did and only paid $2.39 for it.

also, since you have to make 6 different variants of your character to play in the game, i think it would be cool to make a shape shifting character. each stance make a completely different character. hahahaha.

I'm not sure if any of the BestBuys have it yet. I checked their online inventory, and none were listed having stock for any of the major cities around the southeast. I also called a few of the local stores and it was back-ordered everywhere.

I buy just about everything through Amazon, but I have a BestBuy gift card that I've needed to use since Christmas.
 
I uploaded 2 things to the website, so we'll see how long it takes for them to get put up. I submitted my Domo and a 1-Up mushroom that I made. I'm pretty proud of both of them. They're basic, but they look pretty decent I think.
