Because you'd have to buy that new Micro SD to transfer to in the first place.
It comes with a micro SD and you can connect it directly to the PC from what they've said (though that might just be for media). They've shown the micro PC slot and the only other slot on it is the game slot.

Man, serious thanks to everybody who helped convince me to pick up Super Mario 3D Land. SO GOOD.

And no spoilers or anything, but the sheer quantity (and variety) of endgame content was a really nice surprise.

3D land was the first mario game since the original super mario bros, that gave me that warm and fuzzy feeling. There are better mario games(Galaxy 2 is probably my all time fav), but this one took me back to a special time, that most newer titles never do.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!

After reading through your high praise, I thought back to my experience of the game. I remember gushing about it here on CAG and placing it in my personal top 5 Mario games back when it first came out. I'm currently going through it again and I can't help but think it'll eventually be regarded as a classic, much like SMB3, SMW & SM64 are today.

Brahs, is there something wrong with me? I can't even play 3D Land for a minute without getting bored.

Too use to shooters I guess. My brothers loved it though haha. It's funny when I see him all into it and then you take a look at his save file and he's already progressed to the end game, while your still at the first level.

lol

Yeah, it also reminded me of Super Mario Land, appropriately enough. Short, inventive levels, and absolutely no text.

It blew all of my expectations out of the water, even though I played 3D World first (and 3D World borrowed a lot of ideas from 3D Land, and even refined a few).

amazon has a 64gb SD card as part of the DotD for $29.99

http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Frustration-Free-Packaging-SDSDU-064G-AFFP-Version/dp/B007M51IZM/ref=cm_cd_ql_qh_dp_t

Anyone know if this one is compatible with the 3DS? I'm almost out of space on my 32gb card and would pick this one up if its compatible.
Actually, I finally got my 64GB microSD and adapter. The only hard part was getting the damn thing formatted into FAT32. I tried so many programs, and there was always one reason or another why it wouldn't work. I finally found a program that worked perfectly on Windows 8 and did it for me, but it was rather frustrating.

Also, I had a hard time getting the card to "click" into place in my 3DS XL. Every other SD card I tried fit fine. Similarly, everything else I tried this new SD card in, it fit just fine, but for whatever reason, the combination of my particularly XL and this particular card were problematic. I have to push the card toward the system and push down at the same time. It is really annoying.

Anyway, it's formatted, it's in, and it works fine, despite being 64GB, despite using an adapter. Zero issues.

My save battery is dead in all stars but every once in a while my brother and I try to beat lost levels in 1 sitting. still never have
It's strange how some save batteries seem to last forever and some die. If it based upon how often one plays the game and presumably how often one saves? I have games that have sat for decades and the batteries still work. (Actually, I've never had one die on me aside from used games I've purchased.)

It is not terribly difficult to change a save battery. It takes a little finesse and soldering to do it neatly, but if you don't care about being neat (and you shouldn't unless you are just a neat person or plan to sell the game), it can be done with some careful force, a screwdriver, and some tape (doesn't even need to be electrical tape). As long as you have the appropriate replacement battery and the correct tools to open the cart, mind.

Why do they have to? You can transfer from an SD to a microSD with the same ease as transferring SD to SD.
Yeah, there is no way the New 3DS models are going to have SD slots. The whole point of switching to microSD was presumably to save space. I suppose if people don't have a computer to copy from an SD to the microSD (via adapter if necessary), then they will be screwed, but they'd be screwed if they swapped from one SD card to a bigger one in this current generation of 3DS too anyway.

Lay off the Mountain Dew and drink some tea instead =)
For some reason that makes me think of this:

We both know any included Micro SD isn't going to be bigger than 4GB, maybe 8 if we're really lucky. And you're missing the point. It doesn't matter if you're transferring files to the Micro SD through the 3DS or directly on the PC, if you've been using a SD card any larger than 4GB (which most people at this point probably have) then you're still going to need to buy that additional Micro SD in order to transfer your files over.

I'll be trading my physical Fire Emblem for digital if it's sub-$30 (not optimistic), otherwise I hope they surprise.  Not worried about rebuying ALBW, KI: Uprising, etc.

Last week on Wednesday, after seeing the crap sales that were coming on Thursday, I decided to buy SMB3, Oracle of Ages, and Oracle of Seasons. So of course on Thursday they announce the surprise Smash Bros sale and discount SMB3. I really hope they don't discount Oracle of Ages/Seasons because then I get to feel extra stupid for not waiting (combined with SMB3 I'd have wasted $6). Hoping for a Megaman V and Megaman VI sale as the previous Megaman sale only had I through IV.

As long as we aren't talking about anything greater than 32gb, it's as simple as copy it from the old card to the computer, and then copy it to the new card.   And, I say go ahead and blow the extra $2 on class 10. (though I don't think it makes much difference)

Oof, sorry to hear that. I do hope they go on sale, along with Zelda 2 and OoT. I have the Zelda 3ds, and my goal is to get copies of every Zelda game on there.

I believe the specs indicated it's an 8GB. Regardless micro SD has become the standard for portable devices of all types with the only exception being cameras. So having to buy a different $15-20 card if you want another 32GB isn't exactly a massive burden, especially when at least for now this is really only targeted at new adopters and the hardcore. If you don't want to buy a new memory card then don't buy the new system. Yes, it's a new system even if it's a half generational backwards compatible upgrade just like the DSi was.

Then you have to consider that it couple be a purely engineering decision and that between the beefier internals and larger battery that the extra size from a full size SD card might not have been workable. A full size SD reader is significantly larger than a micro SD one.

Just saw that Nintendo has said that it's not going to support XC so that's more worth being upset over.

love to get a 32gb card for the 3ds but not sure how to transfer files (How easy is it to fuck it up and lose everything) also will this work
You just stick the card from the system in your PC and copy the entire thing to a folder to store it. Stick the new card in and copy it all onto the new card exactly like it was on the old. Stick the new card back in your system.

Dragon Quest is coming out on iOS tonight! I don't even like iOS and I'm excited! Waiting... waiting... why is it not out yet... I was meant to be asleep an hour ago.

I understand the point you're making; yes, people will need to buy a microSD if they are transferring more than whatever the included can hold. What is your point, though, that that is lame? It is a bit lame, yes, and there will surely be some confusion and some annoyed people. They still are definitely not going to have a regular SD slot, though.

It's not hard! Take out current SD. Put in new SD. 3DS will initialize new SD. Put old SD into computer. Copy everything to your desktop. Take new SD out of 3DS and put it into PC. Copy everything to new SD. Put new SD back in 3DS again. And yes, those should work just fine! And then you'll be all set for the New 3DS, too, since you'll have a microSD. Get the ULTRA with adapter, though. It is barely any more expensive. In reality, the class 4 one should be fine, but it's only $2 cheaper, and I'm not sure it even comes with an adapter. And you never know if the New 3DS might read faster than the old. That Sandisk Ultra should do you. I have the same thing but in 64GB.

This weeks deals

re right here.

Wii U eShop
Teslagrad (Rain Games, $14.99) — A puzzle platformer with elements of action also thrown in, this stylish début effort from Rain Games has you manipulating magnets, earning new abilities and progressing onwards to uncover the mysteries of the world. It's an entirely beautiful, engaging adventure, as we explain in our Teslagrad review.

KickBeat: Special Edition (Zen Studios, $9.99) — Available from 16th September. This is an action rhythm game in which you pull off impressive Kung-Fu moves while keeping to the beat; it features bands such as Pendulum, P.O.D, Celldweller and Blue Stahli. We'll get our Kung Fu Funk on for our review.

Wii U Virtual Console
Adventure Island (Hudson, $4.99) — A rather well-known NES platformer, the twist in Master Higgins' adventure is that he has to gather fruit to survive, while eggs yield weapons that can add a bit of extra fun. It's a quirky and downright challenging game, and earned a decent recommendation in our Adventure Island review.

Wii U eShop Temporary Discounts
Unepic (EnjoyUp Games, $7.99 until 1st October, normally $9.99)

Just Dance 4 (Ubisoft, 50% discount until 14th September)

Just Dance 2014 (Ubisoft, 50% discount until 14th September)

Just Dance 2014 Kids (Ubisoft, 50% discount until 14th September)

Wii U eShop Demo
Wooden Sen'SeY (Neko Entertainment, free)

3DS eShop
The Keep (Cinemax, $12.99) — An ambitious first-person dungeon-crawling RPG, you take on puzzles and battles as you seek to unravel the mystery around a rather daunting tower; this'll also include multiple difficulty settings with permadeath options. We'll explore the depths of this game for our review.

Hideaways: Foggy Valley (Teyon, $4.99) — It's another hidden object game, making this genre — ironically — very easy to find on the eShop. This one promises over 1000 hidden objects and some sliding block puzzles for some variety; we'll take a close look in our review.

Top Model 3D (TREVA Entertainment, $19.99) — Proof that we're not past the stage of games with '3D' bolted onto the title, this is a simulation title in which you "experience the life of a supermodel", though as you use a PDA it's the life of a supermodel 15 years ago. Still, we'll put on our most expensive clothes — which isn't saying much — and strut down the street while working on a review.

3DS eShop Temporary Discounts
Girls' Fashion Shoot (Rising Star Games, $7.98 until 24th September)

Super Black Bass 3D (Rising Star Games, $3.74 until 24th September)

Jewel Master Cradle of Egypt 2 3D (Rising Star Games, $3.74 until 24th September)

Beyblade: Evolution (Rising Star Games, $9.98 until 24th September)

Bit Boy!! ARCADE (Bplus, $4.99 until 24th September, normally $7.99)

Parking Star 3D (CIRCLE Entertainment, $1.99 until 2nd October, normally $2.99)

3DS eShop Demo
Parking Star 3D (CIRCLE Entertainment, free)

Well, that was disappointing.

Link/Zelda/Shiek/Toon Link

Link Between Worlds - $29.99

Oracle of Ages - $3.99

Oracle of Seasons - $3.99

Fire Emblem

Fire Emblem: Awakening - $29.99

Mega Man

Mega Man - $3.49

Mega Man II - $3.49

Pit/Paulina

Kid Icarus: Uprising - $24.99

Sonic

Sonic the Hedgehog - $3.49

So very disappointed that OoT isn't on the sale list.  Screw you Nintendo.

Edit:  I'll probably still pick up Seasons/Ages, but nothing else this week.  *sigh*

Wow what a great week. That covers everyone's wish list for this week just about. And I get to replace nearly everything I've traded. If X/Y are on sale during a Pokemon week then I'll be complete.

As a new 3DS owner, I'm a little overwhelmed by this week, haha.

I'm definitely getting ALBW, and I have several friends who will more or less stop talking to me if I don't grab Fire Emblem. ($30 isn't an amazing price for either, but when you take various cheap eShop cards into account...)

And since I'm getting a brand new Zelda game, it's hard to justify also getting Ages and Seasons, but on the other hand, I've heard nothing but amazing things. Life's hard, you guys.

Maybe this will help. The talking hat in Minish Cap drives me completely insane. (Shut up, hat!) Will Ages/Seasons feel less leashed/chaperoned? Are they more like Link's Awakening in that respect? Because I do love me some Link's Awakening.

Damn nothing I wanted is on sale this week. Now I'm really looking forward to getting Pokemon Battle Trozei next week.

Ages and Seasons are completely separate games.  Dungeons, bosses, and weapons are different, as are storyline, and overworld.

Terrible week for me. I already own most of these, and bought them on sale last year. The Master System version of Sonic is insulting.

Like others said FEA may never go cheaper digitally and even physical hasn't had many sales in a good while.

Yeah, they're more like Link's Awakening. I loved the Capcom takes on the Zelda series.

Not too many people know the existence of the official SD Formatter 4.0 application for Windows & Mac, which, in fact, its super useful to format SD cards in FAT32 and using all its space: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

Alright. Thanks for the input, folks. Snagged ALBW and Fire Emblem, which should keep me plenty busy while I think about also buying Ages and/or Seasons.

I'm in a similar boat. I have ALBW so now I want the two Oracle games for $7.98.

I was planning on using my $20 worth of eshop cards to get Unchained Blades, but now I might do the two Oracle games and sit on the remaining $12 for another sale... Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

By the way -- I know I'm late to CAG, but I hope everyone knows how to avoid sales tax on the eshop. If not, just change your region to a sales tax-free state like Montana.
