Hey guys, I was wondering if you can help me out. I just got one of those nintendo eshop cards, I am interested in the Shin Megami games but I never played them before and haven't really played that many rpgs. I was wondering if anyone can give me any recommendations, which one I should buy? Explain the differences to me between the 3 on sale.
If you get one, the general consensus is SMT 4 - a really good dungeon crawler RPG where you can recruit demons to fight with you. It can get pretty tough at times, though. This is the newest game.

Devil Survivor: Overclocked is an SRPG (think Fire Emblem, FF Tactics), also rather good.

Soul Hackers I don't know too much about. It's considered pretty good.

This probably isn't that helpful for this question, but I'd say that Persona 4 Golden on Vita would be the best introduction to the SMT brand/franchise/series because it offers a good easy mode and introduction to many of the same mechanics and ideas that are used throughout most SMT games. I'll agree with the others, SMT IV is still a pretty good means of introduction to the series.

Finally the eShop is up and running. I got Devil Survivor Overlocked and Attack of the Friday Monsters. I'm thinking of getting Liberation Maiden before the eShop shut downs again.

Awesome! Steamworld Dig on sale again? Missed it last time.

Off topic here, but I street passed someone on the way to Stockton (CA) who was playing Attack of the Friday Monsters. And while the game world doesn't revolve around CAG, still thought it might be someone from this thread.

So if you're out there DragnLantz, Talofa!

If anyone is somehow still on the fence for Cave Story, it nets you a sweet 20 coins on Club Nintendo, compared to most of these other games which are just 5 coins.

Plus you should get another 10 coins with the post play survey. Not bad.

The coin/club thing would make a heck of lot more sense if the expiration dates weren't all over the place:

-Coins expire after 2 years (though I'm not sure when a "year" begins)

-Status (gold, platinum) expires on July 1 (regardless of when you redeemed)

It's like you really have to be aware to make the most of it.

Have a couple questions.  I got a Mario/Luigi 3DS for christmas.  I heard once you connect Club Nintendo acct the already installed game will pop up eventually and register for your coins, is this true?  Also I wanted to take advantage of the Atlus DL sale but won't be getting new SD card for another week.  To transfer games from one SD card to another all you do is move the files from SD card to computer, then from computer to new SD card and thats it?

Thanks in advance.

I believe so, since they're tied to the serial of your device.

That's neat! Wish it was someone here. If not, at least that's one more person playing Friday Monsters. Hope they like it!

My apologies. Wish you were driving through, rather than to, Stockton.

You really just like making rewards programs a lot more complicated then they are I'm starting to think. ;)

Status expires every year because the one thing tied to it is a yearly reward and nothing else is affected by it that I've ever seen. The year ends June 30th and it says so under your account. The coins expire two club years after they're registered and it tells you under your account on the "Coins & Status" tab how many are expiring at the end of the club year. Everything's dated and pretty straight forward and only the post-play surveys show up like two weeks after registering but you have like two months to do those.

Persona 4 = the only reason I bought a Vita. Sold after playing with 120 hours on the clock.

Fire Emblem = the only reason I bought a 3DS. Still on the first run after 50 hours and can't stop until I see all the supports. Plan to keep it after finishing, unlike the Vita. I think it is the much better system, but it just doesn't have the game pulls that the 3DS has.

Honestly if I hadn't sold the Vita I doubt I'd have stopped playing P4G at all and I was hoping the other SMT games on the 3DS would have some of the same addiction, but like FE the story and characters make the game for me.
Interesting.

P4 is the only reason I want a Vita, but I keep holding out that 3DS will get something similar. For 2014 I'm hoping that the recently announced Persona Q will scratch that itch on the 3DS. Until then I'll keep playing Fire Emblem. I'd love to see a sequel announced or more DLC. It's fun to try to beat my best move score. FE - Was the reason I got my own 3DS and stopped borrowing the kids. It's hard to stop playing FE and try anything else, it's that good.

Persona Q is basically Etrian Odyssey with Persona characters FYI. Super excited but not the same thing.

I guess it's not complicated. Just kind of hard to keep up with the overlapping deadlines. I was also dumb for registering so many games unnecessarily when I should have waited until I really wanted something.

Hahah, that too. I just stopped paying attention. Still kicking myself for missing the ONE thing I've ever wanted...the CRADLE!!!! And they came in different colors. Hope they come back. Been checking weekly.

Last year, my first year getting to elite status, I registered 600 coins. Six months into this year I'm at 1300 and have a pile of pending surveys. The ideal would be to only register 600 a year unless there was something you wanted but I haven't been able to help it between intend to buy surveys and bonus coins and eShop purchases.

Somehow I missed the memo on the $15 BBY giftcard for $100 purchases. Went today bought 2 $20($16) cards a $35($28) and a $50($40).

$125 eshop credit + $15 BBY credit

$100 spent

Yeah, I made the mistake of ordering a $35 card earlier this week and now I'm thinking of ordering another $50 before it ends. Feeling a little dumb about it myself.

No need to check weekly. Check back in April.

"The Nintendo 3DS XL Charging Cradle is currently out of stock. We expect to begin shipping again the last week of April 2014. We will resume taking orders at that time."

Any word on when the Zelda posters will be back? I slept on that one :wall:

I was doing that the first few years until they started making the expiration dates shorter. They used to expire in like a year or two, now it's down to months. So now I go way over 600 which is a waste because there is rarely anything I really want (besides those Zelda posters)! :wall:

Began playing and beat Ikachan tonight.  It pretty much felt like I finished the free demo of a real game.  I'd have been pissed if I paid $5 for it, I guess I'm OK with $3, but it really should be permanently priced at $1.99.

Back to Zelda:ALBW for some real gaming.  Those Maiamai won't get back home without me...

I'm dying to start ALBW, but I need to power through Radiant Historia first. I know if I stop playing, I'll just want to start over from the beginning when I come back to it. Already 30 hours in... just need to keep going.

Really loving this game. Best Zelda in a long time. I'd say since Twilight. Some have criticized the lack of difficulty, but I think it's pretty balanced. Getting into the actual dungeons has given me some trouble.
SF IV anyone? How is it for 3DS?
I'm really digging it, impressive port! Akuma fireball spammers keep me offline though, no different than any other platform version though.

hmm. do Club Nintendo points value drop often? I've already hit Platinum and I'm not sure what to do with the unused Club Nintendo codes of my other games...

I'm seriously thinking of getting SFIV 3DS just for the fun of it but bleh... I don't like the buttons. does it work with the Circle Pad Pro or support Download Play?

Hmm. is there any price tracker? some of the sale games were cheaper right?

I've purchased the following thus far
Liberation Maiden
Attack of Friday Monsters
Crimson Shroud

still thinking on
The Starship Damery
Cave Story (was it cheaper?)
Mighty Switch Force I and II (already bought the WiiU version so...)
Super Acrons
SFIV
Mutant Mudds (thinking of Vita instead)

I believe they drop them for physical games every year or so, though I don't know about digital games. It seems like most of the eShop exclusives are 10 points for the registration survey.

Welp durn. I fell asleep and forgot to order more eShop cards from BBY.

I'm on the fence for Cave Story, is the eshop sale on the 3d remake, or is it simply a port of the free original on the PC?
Basically it's in-between the DSi version and the paid PC version (Cave Story+).

SF IV anyone? How is it for 3DS?
If you have Arcade Edition or the game in any other form, I would suggest to not buy this version. Frame rate issues and graphics of course are limited. 3ds isn't the best platform to play because of the dpad and the circle pad not being exactly best for fighting games.

Have to agree with what option said. I also found it a bit distracting that the backgrounds are just still images and that the NPCs never move. Fighting games are much better suited to consoles IMO.

I think you guys are being a little over the top about SFIV 3DS. As long as no one is expecting a console or arcade experience, it's a lot of fun. I've been playing fighting games with a d-pad since SFII on the SNES. I have no desire to be a pro, just to enjoy myself. If you want a portable Street Fighter, it's a good one. Got good reviews, too.

Well, considering that AE has been discounted a lot (especially on PC) and that Ultra is coming out summertime next year... It all just makes buying SF 3DS for $10 (for a previous iteration you cant upgrade) not worth it at all.

Even if you have something like Intel Integrated Graphics 3000, you can still run the game fine (not highest settings of course) and have a better experience IMO.

Fair enough, but this is the only way you can have Street Fighter in your pocket unless you have one of the PSP/GBA/GB incarnations. My point was that, and also that it's fun unless you're a pro who needs things a certain way.

I don't think anyone is purchasing SFIV on 3DS to be their go-to version, but at $10 and being on a portable it's definitely more than capable.

I'm only quoting you because your Sig is one the best games that I have ever had the pleasure of playing in my life! Sorry to get off topic :p I wish that they would have brought more than just this version to the 3DS

Comparing the 3ds version to the pc/console is apples and oranges. I thought SFIV 3ds was a suprisingly decent port. And it has some cool street pass features.

Probably better as a digital game then cart too. Something you might start on a whim for some quick play.
