have you played it?

i wonder how long of a game it is and if it has any replay
Inazuma Eleven is a full retail game. It was in line with other JRPGs of the day, and I'd be surprised if even non-completionists didn't get 20 hours out of it. I think I got more like 30 hours out of it, and I didn't even finish. I would estimate 30-40 hours for most gamers. As for replay value, I want to play it again, so it must have some, but again, I never finished either. I can't even remember what the vocal accents were in the UK version I played.

Crimson Shroud is generally good, with one exception. It's very much a pen & paper RPG experience on a handheld, which is cool, and I like that you gain stats through finding better gear instead of gaining levels. Overall, I really enjoyed it, and definitely recommend it at this price.

But there is one exception. You have to visit each location twice to advance the game, which is weird, but travel is quick so I don't mind the backtracking. But at one point you need a random drop from a skeleton mage, which only spawns from killing a skeleton archer, and even then not every time. I had to repeat the same battle 10+ times before I got the drop I needed too advance the game. It almost made me quit. I'm glad I stuck through it, but requiring a low percentage drop to advance the story is a terrible design choice.

lol, damn, @jesse_dylan is going hard for Inazuma. Like I said, I'll definitely pick it up, just a matter of when. Thanks for clearing up its status as a DS or 3DS game. I incorrectly assumed no improvements were made.

Amusingly, I am stuck at this part right now. 5 attempts so far, no drops.

Going hard for Bravely Default, too. :)

I've been writing about Inazuma Eleven, Fantasy Life, and about 10 others for years now on every single Club Nintendo survey I do (and complained loudly about Bravely Default until it was announced), so I figure I better do my part so we can get more games in the future.

loved BD until chapter 5 then it was just lame 5-8 is just a repeat of chapter 1-4 blah.

Guess I need to put my money where my mouth is. Been wanting Inazuma Eleven for a while and the best place to start is the earliest. Looks fun and my to buy price for DS games is usually 20 unless it's highly coveted by me.

Then you put it into autopilot mode via gamefaqs. :) You told us yesterday.
even with auto its boring as hell. it was a great game up to chapter 4, and still worth the cash its just too bad they did not just end it at chapter 4 instead of having to redo all of the things over and over and over in 5 6 7 and 8

Yeah, I guess I can't really comment until I get there. I'm having so much fun that I'd be fine with literally repeating the same stuff over again, so I imagine I'll be fine with whatever it is. I remembered what you said about not working too hard to optimize a "perfect" party, though. I don't want to turn it into a cakewalk, and it's always a bit stressful for me to try to optimize everything. I never finished DQ IX unfortunately because I spent so much time trying to get the perfect party that I burnt out! (Plus is wasn't as wonderful as DQ 8. Or 5.)

There we are!! Good lad!

Snap, now I super-regret buying the few Level 5 games I wanted when they were on sale last time. I think crimson shroud was like...$4.99? I'll have to check my eshop history when I get home.

who cares? its a few bucks and if you want it, why worry about getting it at the absolute lowest?  there are a lot of things I regret and stew about in life, if I do that over every time I could've should've saved a few bucks, my life would suck.

you supported the developers, probably help ensure that they will release future guild games that you may enjoy, just leave it at that.

I'm happy to see all the interest the Guild games got here on CAG (at least in this thread), particularly Friday Monsters and Crimson Shroud.  If CAG is any kind of barometer, maybe that means they sold well.  I hope so.  We miss out on so many cool Level 5 games.

At least personally, it's made worse by the fact that I haven't even booted any of them up yet.

Wish DQ8 would get a Vita Port. Don't think 3DS could handle it

I think the 3DS could! I'm not sure, though. One thing I loved about DQ8 was this awesome sense of exploration. You could see off into the distance, and there seemed to be things to explore around every corner of the beautiful natural fantasy environment. That was lost with DQ IX's unfortunate switch to very limited hardware. However, if the 3DS remake of DQ7 is any indication, and more so if the Dragon Quest Monsters 1 and 2 remakes on 3DS are, I think the 3DS can truck out just as much as the PS2 with some tweaking.

Not that I wouldn't buy a Vita port!

It is out on mobile phones now in Japan. :/ Not sure if my iPhone 4 could run it, and it's probably stupidly expensive anyway. And I don't want to play it on a phone.

The lack of Dragon Quest getting released in the U.S. is one of the things I constantly harp to Nintendo about. The fact that we got Inazuma Eleven makes me wonder if they listened to me. Who knows. Probably not, but if enough people whine about specific games and developers on the Club N surveys, maybe it'll make a mark.

If I were a person with clout at Nintendo, I would hire more translation teams and get this stuff out on the market, even if it was low-budget and eShop-only. Even if it "just" broke even, it seems as though it would be worthwhile, but I think it would do more than break even.

Well the "everyone" you mention is just one person that I know of... :) Unless other people are mentioning. No reviews I read seemed to mention anything about it.
I've actually seen a few mentions of it pre-release and a few more now since the game came out. Just not sure what the dealbreaker is.

i think there is where i made the mistake. i put the encounter rate up to 100% + on the vampire castle and maxxed out the jobs i wanted to level 14 and maxxed out my people to level 99 at the end of chapter 4. around 40 hours and i do figure i got my moneys worth. Just saying Blah about doing the same stuff over for the next 4 chapters

If any more people here  get

Inazuma Eleven

i love to hear what people think about it.  Very tempted to pick it up  and might pick it up tomorrow night of  age of demons for the vita does not show tomorrow from gamefly.   Then again i would have it tuesday and would not really have the time to give  IE  the time it needs

You realize that it already has at least one PS2 port on it, right? Tales of the Abyss.
I think DQ8 might be a little more graphic-intensive. Even KH2 seemed a little sparse to me. But, a whole lot can be done with clever programming, and I think the 3DS could keep up. I don't think it's ever as simple as a straight port, though, because the 3DS system architecture is totally different from PS2.

DQ7 got a remake for the 3DS and it is perfect, been playing it all year.

I'm pretty sure a DQ8 remake would play just as perfect as DQ7.

The real question would be... If the game came out, would it get an American release? DQ7 has been out for a year now, along side a few other DQ games for the 3DS.

If I can get out and buy an Eshop card tonight I'll be buying Inazuma 11, so I'll post impressions
It reminds me of Mario Golf mixed with Mega Man Battle Network (minus the computer stuff... and Mega Man) mixed with I don't know what.

It's a traditionalish RPG with a schoolkid kind of storyline. There is some "soccer" in it where you draw with the stylus in semi-real-time, but then it switches to menus to choose an attack at the right time and carries it out in 3D.

It's difficult to describe, but that's it, in a nutshell. It's not so sporty that I dislike it (I prefer turn-based), but it's also not so traditional that it will bore people either.

I think the only people who won't like it will be people expecting an action soccer game, and even then, if they have any interest in Japanese story-telling, they might be won over.

I suppose I would have preferred a different sport myself, like golf or baseball, but, as I've said before, it's as much about soccer as Tetris is about building, and only slightly more about soccer than Super Mario Bros. is about plumbing.

I don't suppose there's any way to purchase games on the eShop outside of using one's 3DS? Mine is currently 10,000 miles away, and I doubt the Guild sale will still be active on March 2nd, which is the earliest I'll have access to it again.

No, it's also listed clearly that their sale prices end on 2/23 in the OP (*hint*hint*), so you'll miss out on them. Luckily, they seem to go on sale every few months, so you can try again next time.

They made a DQ8 port work on iOS and Android, so I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult for them to get it to work on 3DS.

Yeah, I've already got Crimson Shroud and Liberation Maiden from the first time those went on sale, but $2.99 was the sweet spot, I think, for Attack of the Friday Monsters and Aero Porter. Man, and the only reason I didn't bring my 3DS is because it doesn't have a voltage-compatible charger. NINTENDO Y U NO LIEK TRAVLR?

Grinsia was an ios and android game that was to come to the 3ds way back last fall and last i heard they gave up on it cause it was too hard for them to work it on the 3ds

I think 8 was the best selling DQ game in the US?

A remake/port of DQ8 would be awesome. Wouldn't mind them released an "HD" version to the PS3 (ala Okami HD) but a 3DS port would be welcome as well.

You should go back home to it, just to know you're gonna be the man who went 10,000 miles to download a game or two.

NEXT-NEXT WEEK (2/23) 20% OFF eSHOP CARDS AT BBY AGAIN

Well bought Inazuma Eleven, really hoping someday we get 2/3 and 3DS versions. It looks fun and I hope the fun factor hasn't definently aged or such.

I hope you're all happy, just bought Inazuma with the last of my 20% off credit since it's coming around again.  Not like I'm backlogged as bad as anything on the 3DS and not playing it or anything.  Will probably fall asleep before it even downloads.

First of all, that's funny considering Grinsia looks like a game made in RPG Maker. I have a hard time believing a simple 2D game like that would have a hard time running on a 3DS. Second, Nicalis is porting the game to 3DS and it still shows it's coming out in Q1 2014, so they have until the end of March for it to come out. I haven't heard they given up on it so it still on its way.

I have a large backlog, but I am considering getting Liberation Maiden for 3 bucks.

I was in the same situation, for the Zelda Four Swords freebie. On the plus side, this was already the 2nd time these games went on sale. (4.99 each when I got them, according to my receipts) Maybe there will be a third.

Damn the Guild games are $2.99 each? Well at least I already played 2/3 of the ones I bought in the last one. Guess I'll get Liberation Maiden this time. Might get the Tank one too. At least that way they can all be free for the next sale.
