I played EO IV a while ago - the thing about that game is that I wasn't entirely sure I completed it or not . I mean, I think I did with just some optional stuff left over, but I'm not 100% sure.I have a question about that game save transfer utility. Does it let you transfer your game save off a cart and then back on to a different cart? Or is it only for cart-to-digital transfers? I was thinking of trading one game (Bravely Default) in to Gamestop and then picking them it again during the Best Buy B1G1 sale since I need a fourth game. But of course I only want to do this if my dozens of hours of gameplay save can transfer off the cart and on to the new one!Edit, never mind, won't work (from Nintendo's web site):I'll either pick something else up or wait to see if the value holds till next Sunday - though I was going to just have the Best Buy games shipped...
You could just do the BOGO at Best Buy, then trade in those cartridges. Either way you are trying in X games and buy in Z games, but then you can keep your original carts.

Hadn't heard about Skypeace. I love runners, so I got it. Also got Carps and Dragons. I had totally forgotten about that game. I've always thought it looked amusing.

Wow, after retrying stage 4 (4!) of Yumi's Odd Oddysey 30 (30!) times and still not being able to finish it, I kind of want to break something.
I recommend not your arm.

...unless you're into that kinda thing, I dunno. I'm not here to judge.

I finally tried a demo of one of the Etrian Odyssey games. I found mapping kind of annoying and painful. Like, I just want to move and on and experience the story, but nooo, I've gotta map stuff.

What happens if I just don't map a floor? Will the game tell me to go back and map?

I have to admit, it was kind of intriguing, but the mapping kind of got to me.

I don't think the game will force you to map. It'll just be annoying when you revisit a floor and do not known where everything is... I believe you can turn on an "auto-mapping" function; so at the very least, when you move around the map, it will fill in pathways for you.

The game won't make you map the floors. But it will be very difficult to play without doing so.

This is a series in the vein of original bards tale and might and magic where mapping was done on paper while playing. There are warp tiles and puzzles that will make the game near impossible if you haven't mapped certain attributes.

Chiming in with everyone else, I don't think the game forces you (or even rewards you) as far as mapping. It's just meant for your benefit.

That said, Untold has an automapping mode that I was shocked by. It does nearly all the mapping for you. EOIV's automap doesn't even fill in the walls for you, I don't think, but I don't remember either exactly. I just remember turning on Untold's, thinking wow this will save a lot of time, and then turning it off when I began to feel sad and miss the mapping.

If you're playing it for the story, there's not much to see there. Might not be for you. I think there's an automapping option though.

I feel stupid for buying yumi's odd odyssey on release. It's already permanent price dropped and I don't even like it that much. Wouldn't have had so much buyer's remorse if I waited.

A few more Atlus games went on sale today:

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked - $14.99 - 50% Off - Ends 8/04

Shin Megami Tensei IV* - $24.99 - 50% Off - Ends 8/04

Code of Princess - $14.99 - 50% Off - Ends 8/04

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers - $14.99 - 50% Off - Ends 8/04

* Most of the DLC should also be 50% off, if past history is any indication

does a 64gb card work in 3ds? Also id it as simple as copying all my files to the new card or will I have to redownload them? I don't want to lose my pokemon x save.

Sort of. You have to format them a certain way and it's still YMMV as they're not officially supported and still don't work for some people. As far as going to a bigger card goes you just copy everything onto your PC then move it onto the new card exactly how it was on the old card and it works fine.

I still need to work out how I'm going to get more space (32GB more than full). It bugs me not having everything downloaded at the same time for some reason.
How does it work when a 3DS card is more than full; I thought you have to back up the data all at once and can't redownload games.

Any of the SMTIV DLC worth getting?
Gunman Clive is pretty fun, yeah. Simple but fairly tough at times.
I have Gunman Clive on Steam and it's pretty fun, but it's very short. Hour and a half at most.
yeah, I heard that it was a very short, but for $2 bucks, I can't say no. Thanks people!!

I wish they'd just officially support bigger than 32GB. Some people say they have absolutely no issues, and others say they have slow loading, lose save data, and all kinds of stuff. I guess I should just forget it and use the below method.

How does it work when a 3DS card is more than full; I thought you have to back up the data all at once and can't redownload games.
Goodness no. Actually, built into the OS is an option for backing up your save data onto your SD card. You are then able to delete whatever game it's from. When you redownload the game, it asks you if you'd like to import your backed-up save data (my paraphrase), and you're good to go. It's pretty spiffy, really, much more handy than the Vita's clunky system (unless they've improved it).

You can redownload the game on the same system without jumping through any hoops after its deleted?
On the Vita with PS+ it's 1 button upload/compare what you have with the upload. Without PS+ not sure.

I see a few complete copies at GS when I go to the city.

They've been there for a while so I don't know if they'll still be available when my B2G1 coupons become active.

FYI GS currently has the SMT IV cart for $20 new, $19 used.

Today I bought a 3DS XL (Pokemon edition, red color). Are there any useful tips, websites I should know to, you know, be a 3DS Cheap Ass Gamer  :D Thanks for the info!

I hope you're taking advantage of price-matching the B1G1 free sale at best buy, as I assume your local best buy is sold out.  Walmart will most likely do it if you bring them a local ad.

There's a money dungeon thing that I ended up buying right at the end that I wish I had gotten earlier. Money is in short supply, especially when you want to buy some of the better weapons you find later. I would suggest that one at least.

And crap, I guess the Etrian Odyssey sales are over? I swear those said 7/24 on them. Oh well, with the Best Buy B1G1 sale I got a lot of new games and don't need EO Odyssey at this time anyway.

I'm thinking they will go down to $10 each before long, going by Atlus's sale trends.

Yeah, I figured. Or at least they'll be offered for $15 again. But if it shows up for $10, I'll buy it as soon as I find out, even if I've got 5 other games in the queue to play.

I've got about $23 on the eshop, i just bought steamworld dig, and witch/hero in prep for a long trip. Any suggestions on anything else digital? I will probably have starfox 64/mario world as my 1 cart. I was waiting for shovel knight to go on sale I doubt i will find a better use for $15 than that. Whats my best use for $23 eshop money tomorrow?

I already own/beat Devil Survivor on DS, own SMT IV, and don't really want CoP.

So i should just buy shovel knight right? ( is it fine on the 3DS? )

Follow me on Twitter.

Nah, I don't use Twitter

Just look at the threads here. Some deals might get murdered by lazy unemployed d-bags who waste a perfectly good game to get an extra dollar, but if you see them quickly, then you can get a good game.

Thanks for the answer. What do you mean with murdering a deal? Thanks for the clarification
