I'm gonna troll here just because Monster Hunter triggers me: Almost any one boss in Ys 7 is more fun than a dozen MonHun bosses.

I mean it.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

I am aroused by boss battles in the dirtiest of all possible ways despite my distaste for the series. So I don't want a code at the expense of a genuine desirer but I do want to informally ask if we know when the demo will be unleashed to the unwashed masses? How long did Smash demo take if anyone knows?
Smash code was 1 week early. The regular pleb people got the 30 uses demo.

Pokemon was like a month(maybe more?). They eventually released the unlimited demo for that one to everyone.

Thanks for the advice, I know now to not pick up new yoshi. How about Mario tennis ?
I liked playing Mario golf, I'm going to get that pass one day to unlock the rest of the characters.

I haven't played it, but the word I've seen from fans of previous Mario Tennis games was that it was a disappointment because there's no RPG/story mode and it felt like a really basic package without much single-player content to it. It just has tournaments, some mini-game challenges, and local/online MP. Mario Golf wasn't perfect in those regards either, but I've seen much more positive feedback about that game. You might be better off getting the GBC versions of those games since they're cheaper and have the great RPG modes that started the series.

Can I just say, Ultimate NES Remix incites me to rage on several levels.

#1, I already bought both on Wii U, so I had to buy this again now.  (Yes, I had to!  I was forced!  Okay, not really.)  Admittedly, I wanted it in portable format, so...  Plus I really want SNES and GB Remixes.

#2,  The DESIGN of these games is what really incites me to rage versus annoyance.  It's like they're just designed to piss you off.  Capitalize on nostalgia, then cause you to get so pissed off you would rather just go play the NES games themselves instead (which honestly might be the whole point of it, to sell more VC games).

And this leads me to Mighty Switch Force, which I resumed after a few years last night.  Guess I just wanted to get myself good and pissed off right before bed.  I hate the awkwardness of constantly having to jump and then quickly hit L, R or A to switch the blocks.  It's awkward.

None of this compares with the rage Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze incited in me, though, so...  I guess I just have some serious video game anger issues.  Poor design really ticks me off.

Anyone got a spare MH4 demo code? I think I'm going to go insane if I have to watch Frozen again with the wife and daughter without a good distraction

EXACTLY. Or you have to do a challenge while dealing with the HORRIBLE controls of the original Mario Bros. Or while dealing with the fact that falling 2 feet in Donkey Kong will kill you. Sometimes it feels like trying to pick up rice grains with chopsticks, but you have a timer and things trying to kill you and someone shouting in your ear "GO FASTER".

I love the concept of this game, and it's so cool, but... grahhhhhhhhhhhh. Maybe it's my own fault for needing to get 3 stars in everything.

Yay, all this talk about NES Remix has saved me $30.

Hate to add to add to the list of beggars for MH4 codes (not really lol), but I am starting to second guess my pre-order decision. If anyone could hook me up with a code, it would be well appreciated.

I actually like the game. I have both copies and it is a love hate relationship lol.
If you have friends on your list it will compare scores to add even more of what I call " Nintendo competition " the olden days of nes hard games are back with a new twist. You two can relive the days of fun enjoyable and HARD aspects of classic nes game segments.

Borrow a friends copy, get it from gamefly or possibly used from game stop to try it first and see what you think.

Was going to pre-order the MH4 3DSXL but I wanted to try the game first. I didn't even know there was a demo available because Nintendo never sends me these codes. Didn't get the Smash code last year either

Welcome to the late 1980's.

I'd appreciate a MH4 code; I've never played a MH game and would like to check it out.

And I really wish that WayForward/Nintendo would release a cart of the Shantae trilogy (GBC/DSi/3DS)... Even though I have the first two (cart for the first one), I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger on the third one's sale price.

So, my friend is indefinitely lending me one of his six 3DS, as I've had an itch to play some of the games out for it now. Looking at the sale, I'm very interested in either of the Etrian Oddyssey games. I played some of the demo of Millennium Girl demo and found it pretty addicting... But I see EO IV is on sale as well, and the reviews seem to point towards that game above MG. Any opinions?

Just saying, if you never tried a monster hunter game, you could download the MH3 demo off eshop and try that first instead of wasting someone's code.

Out of the two Etrian games you mentioned, I only played IV, but it was great. I heard it's the more accessible game so it might serve better as an introduction to the series. Plus having an overworld you can explore is a plus. I highly recommend it if you enjoyed the MG demo. IV has a demo too if you'd like to try it first.

Also, what do ppl who played the MH4 demo think of it on the 3DS? I sadly didn't get a code and wanted to know if it's very cumbersome to move the camera around during all the action.

Both are great games. There's a demo for EOIV too if you wanna try it. MG is a little more beginner friendly if you've never played an EO game before. If you're not interested in the story mode, then I'd say go for IV. If you want a little character interaction and the idea of a bare bones story isn't your thing MG's your girl. Personally, IV feels more polished. I prefer the skill progression, map design, and overworld of IV.

Demo code sent.

IMO, every MH game is like that where the camera is a tad cumbersome. But that's just part of the game. I'm sure the new C-stick will help those who aren't used to the "claw method" of the PSP days, so I wouldn't worry ;) Even if you plan on just playing with the 3DS, there's a camera d-pad button on the touchscreen. Try out the demo and report back xD

Wasn't going to ask and figure I would wait and would receive a email but seem Nintendo forgot me this time round so if any mh4 demo codes are left from anyone would appreciate it and thanks in advanced

You'll probably end up buying it and suffering along with us. As much as it ticks me off, it is an experience like none other, and I love these old games. Guess they pissed me off pretty hard as a kid, too, so it's no shock I get that way now too. I just think they're even more frustrating than the original games were.

Strangely, it has me wanting it more...
It is a great concept and really cool and really fun. There are so many places it could go now, like SNES Remix, Game Boy Remix. They could license games like Castlevania and Mega Man. Or they could license really crappy games and make a Shitty Game Remix (although I doubt they'll do that one). They could make it into a storyline like Namco-Bandai did with Retro Game Challenge. But instead they'll probably just keep making it frustrating and hard as hell to trigger those of us with video game rage issues.

If it weren't for the 1, 2, & 3 star system, I would probably enjoy it. I already have YNI and DKCR3D to give me an OCD twitch. I don't need anything else right now.
I am going to give it another go and try to ignore the star system. I already have enough stars to unlock everything, so I don't know why I think I need 3 in each.

I actually like the game. I have both copies and it is a love hate relationship lol.
I was under the impression that Ultimate on 3DS had all the content of both the Wii U games. I have played Ultimate almost to the end. Very little left (and decided to give up on it for good last night... but by morning I wanted to play it again... maybe I don't need to get all the stars), but I hadn't played the Wii U ones much. Sounds like they might have some stuff the 3DS version does not?

Now I remember why I stopped playing video games until Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy Legend came out and why I liked dorky PC games so much. And why I so preferred the SNES. I feel like NES Remix takes the worst, hardest parts of those old games and distills them to make them even more difficult and obnoxious. But, to be fair, my old favorites like SMB 3 and Super Mario World can be pretty darn hard. It's just that you don't have challenges and a star system and whatever else to make it even more frustrating.

They are fantastic games. I actually think Millennium Girl is more beginner-friendly, and I did enjoy the story mode. That said, I had a blast with IV, despite lack of a story mode. (Actually, I quite enjoyed the thin story it had in it.) I'd say buy both and play MG first. MG has a lot more auto-mapping than IV, but you can turn it off. You can't automap much in IV.

They're remaking II now, and perhaps they'll remake III after that. I don't think it matters a whole lot which order you play them in, just make sure you play them. :)

Thank you so much! ^__^ Just got out of work so I'll be sure to try it out and comment once I get home. I don't plan on getting the n3ds, so I'm hoping the lack of the nub doesn't put me at too much of a disadvantage. Glad to hear about the touchscreen camera.

Seems like the majority is going with MG as the more accessible. Only went with what I heard about MG, so I could definitely be wrong. Still, I think you'll have a blast with either, and they go on sale often enough that you don't have to worry about missing the opportunity to get the other.

Also, if you're a Persona fan, Persona Q is awesome since it combines the gameplay of the two. It's on the easy side though.

Anyone have any recommendations for a longer stylus than the one that comes with the 3DS XL?  Been playing Theathrhythm and am tired of only being able to reach the right side of the screen with the smaller stylus.

I still have a lot to unlock, but it does include the Famicon games . I think the newest game I unlocked on the 3ds version was either mario 2 or punchout ?

If you can find them, the nerf ones are actually quite nice. I bought a 4 pack and it's one of the best investments I've made outside of the games themselves for my 3ds

Just finished giving the first two missions a try. It takes some getting used to, but I'm glad the touch d-pad is there. Once I get used to the sweet spots for rotating the camera on the fly I'll be set. Also loving the Charge Blade! Mained the Switch Axe in Tri, so this is something that feels both new and a bit familiar. Thanks again, having a blast! :)

Love seeing the generosity... I posted a bit earlier hoping to get a code, but was too early I guess before people seemed to be getting extras.

If someone has a code to PM me, that would be awesome so I can see if my son wants the actual game later... Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the 3DS NES Remix does not contain all of it, while the WiiU version contains both game packs I their entirety.

Yep, I found a list on Wikipedia. Not much is missing, just a few things (but sort of strange to me that they didn't just include them all.

Missing in Ultimate Remix from NES Remix I:

Baseball

Clu Clu Land

Donkey Kong 3

Golf

Ice Climber

Pinball

Tennis

Urban Champion

Wrecking Crew

(That's a lot!)

Missing in Ultimate Remix from NES Remix 2:

Ice Hockey

NES Open Tournament Golf

Wario's Woods

Not a whole lot missing in that one...

I don't know if it's worth playing all the versions. I probably will eventually despite them pissing me off a lot. :)
