It's Hydlide: The Next Generation. In other words, a gutter RPG where the outcome of fights inevitably has one of three outcomes: either you get slaughtered, you win taking some damage, or you slaughter the enemy without earning any experience. It sucks ass.

It's a mini mobile RPG adventure thing with a boring empty world and almost no puzzles to speak of with the walk into enemies to take damage and kill them just to pad out the game with some grind walls.

Slightly off topic, but I missed the SD card posted a couple of days ago, so I'm torn between these two:

http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-MicroSDHC-Class10-Adapter-TS32GUSDU1E/dp/B00CES44EO/ref=pd_sim_pc_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=19R0R3CARZ7YHXDSTKHY

and

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Class-Adapter-MB-MS32DA-AM/dp/B00IVPU7DQ/ref=sr_1_14?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1422974656&sr=1-14&keywords=32gb+sd+card

I'm leaning towards the latter Samsung brand because it's cheaper, but its transfer rate is slower. Any reason why else not to get it?

Does the New 3DS transfer data fast enough for it to matter? I wish Nintendo would publish the actual transfer rate from the SD storage. THat way we would know what the maximum SD the 3DS can even use would be.

Why do I have an extra box here?

Since I don't know what Fairune is, it must not be me. Phew.

Looked it up. It looks...short. I can't really tell what you're supposed to be doing. The battle mechanic looks like you're just running over enemies.
I will say I part ways with Utopian or whoever liked Fairune. That shit should have stayed on Iphone and even on Iphone it's low tier.
Okay guys, we're going to have this conversation again? Just because you're not hammering the A button to kill enemies doesn't make a game bad. Ys has you walking into enemies for combat, too. Also, RollingSkull hates almost everything.

I actually enjoyed Fairune. I wouldn't say it's great or anything, but it's fun and nostalgic. I am not one of those people who thinks much is good on iOS, but I liked that. I haven't tried the 3DS version.

I'll also chime in on Shadow Wars. Although I wouldn't heap as much praise on it as you guys. I got it for cheap and it was a solid game. I can recommend it for < $10. It's not as good as xcom or fire emblem. But it does what it set out to do fairly well.
Yeah, I think you're spot-on. It's cheesy and a bit goofy, and I wish it had been more like X-COM, but it's really enjoyable. It was a great buy at $20 even.

Tetris Ultimate - $14.99 - 25% Off - Ends 2/16

I'm obligated by law to tell you that Ghost Recon Shadow Wars is an awesome game from the creator of XCOM and is basically Fire Emblem with more of a modern military aesthetic.
(Left the Shadow Wars so more people will buy it.)

What is Tetris Ultimate, and is it actually good? I am so tired of shitty Tetris games. All I want is a good Tetris game for 3DS. Tetris Axis is (was) really annoying and dorky. Is Tetris Ultimate annoying and dorky? Why doesn't Nintendo have the license anymore? All I want is a new version of Tetris DS (the best version ever) for 3DS. Instead I end up playing the Game Boy Virtual Console version. I would happily have $15 if it was good as Tetris DS, but I'm sure it's crap as usual.

I thought Fairune looked okay. Reminded me of Witch and Hero. I actually usually like crap other people don't like. What was the sale price? I would get for half off or something, maybe.

I liked Witch and Hero, and I usually at least mildly enjoy games that most people hate. I should have gotten Grinsia when it was on sale; cheap game and easy 30 CN coins.

So logically that means the only possible true statement from that is that you both hate all games.

Yes, I totally took the time to make a diagram of it.
More like EldritchOnARoll, I swear every thread I opened this morning you have the first post I see lol

Tetris Ultimate is a very good Tetris game. Only one song for solo and one for versus modes but it's a solid Tetris package. Lots of customization.

Probably not Ultimate but it's a good package.

What made Tetris DS so good?

"Okay guys, we're going to have this conversation again?  Just because you're not hammering the A button to kill enemies doesn't make a game bad.  Ys has you walking into enemies for combat, too.  Also, RollingSkull hates almost everything."

Just writing this I am putting more thought into replying to this post than you did making it. You quoted all of those posts but you sure as shit didn't read any of it if that's your characterization of the argument.

The Ys combat system isn't my favorite admittedly. I never much cared for killing monsters by grinding my crotch against them. But it doesn't change the fact that Ys is a quality series. Hydlide is most definitely NOT this. Neither is Fairune from what I've heard. It's a spiritual successor, which means it takes the suck of Hydlide into the 21st century.

By the way, keep your eyes open for the English fan dub of Ys 4 for the Turbo Duo! I ham it up with a couple of the villains in it. :D

The bump combat system has been in far far fewer Ys games than there has been proper hacking and slashing (With the GOOD games of the series having some of the greatest bosses of any action game, dangit.). And even in the bump games there was finesse to it. Approach at the correct angles, avoid going head on, etc etc. It wasn't a great system but it was still more actiony than Fairune. Fairune and Ys are almost completely opposite takes on the same system. One does not justify the other, nor can one easily explain the other.

If you're voice acting as an Ys villain and you aren't leaving bite marks all over the scenery, you aren't doing it right. "Sup Adol. It's me. The asshole magic dude. Nah I'm not here to fight ya, I'm just here to turn all these people who aren't you to stone and then leave again? Why? Ahhaha I'm evil! I don't need a reason!"

Plus normally the protagonist is the coolest character and the villain the second coolest but Adol doesn't talk so... Now's your chance, villains!

What made Tetris DS so good?
Man that game was awesome. It did enough to make the forumla feel fresh without messing with the core formula until it was unrecognizable like most Tetris games do. Every mode was actually fun and worked well, the whole thing was super tight and polished, and all the Nintendo window dressing just put it over the top.

I know the first two games had it but even if any later ones had it the remakes of those games (ie the ones you would actually be playing today) don't.

if Fairune plays similar to witch and hero, I'd recommend it. Haven't played it yet though.
It doesn't. :) It is like a weird cross of Ys and Zelda 1 but without much/any story and a progressive kind of level-up system thing. I found it enjoyable and relaxing.

I will have to wait for Tetris Ultimate to have a better sale price and then give it a shot. I am pretty desperate, though not desperate enough to have enjoyed Tetris Axis... which I don't think is even on the eShop anymore. I've spent more time on the Game Boy original via Virtual Console. And that isn't as good as the Game Boy Color version. Nobody does Tetris like Nintendo, and it's a shame they didn't keep the license. Maybe it wasn't worthwhile economically. I would have loved a Nintendo Tetris RPG.

As for the argument, I was never arguing and didn't see much point in it. I think I was also on the toilet and on a phone and had screwed my quotes up. So I actually put in twice as much effort as you and three times as much if you count the poop I was taking and at least 10 times the amount of effort if you consider all the food I'd eaten and digested in order to have my fluffy, nice poop that put me on the toilet in the first place where I read your hate-speech.

(Tetris DS) Exactly! It was just simple, had everything you needed/wanted without any extra fluff. I will admit I never got to appreciate the window-dressing because I was so busy actually playing. Maybe if you get good at Tetris you could actually watch all the Nintendo characters and stuff. Maybe I should just buy Tetris DS again. No idea where my copy went, and it seems like I won't be satisfied with any other version of Tetris.

Ys I and II had the bump combat and still do in the remakes. None of the other Ys games ever had it. Ys III was a side-scroller instead of top-down, in fact.

So with Moon Chronicles, am I understanding correctly that this is only Episode 1 and not the full "season pass"?
That's correct.

BTW people, do yourself a favor and pick up Gunman Clive 2, please. It's awwwwwesome... and only $3 bucks.

I like the demo. Fun but a little slow. Might play it twice definitely not 30 times. Might be interested in a set of the player cards if you pick up some extras.
They're only giving one per person. I can grab you a card if you want but shipping will kill this deal unless you're ok with a basic envelope

If you haven't played Gunman Clive you are a failure as a human being. It is surprisingly, insanely good.

I think Gunman Clive 1 is better crafted than Gunman Clive 2 but both are absolutely worth it, without question.

Retro City Rampage is alright. It's completely without charm but it gets the job done for open world rampage. The jump stomp mechanic makes the otherwise bland shooting good fun.

That's not too bad, I'm just not sure if I want to go back and play it again for over $10.
My understanding is that Episode 1 is the only part that you'd be "playing again." Episodes 2+ are new content, again - if I understand correctly.

According to their website season one is the original game remastered. Season 2 is all new content.

Actually I think I am going to buy this. I just saw that the game supports the CPP (and by extension the nubbin on the N3DS) and playing it like that seems worth it since I wasn't super fond of the touch screen aiming. Could be neat with that and the better 3D (they added full 3D support) of the N3DS. Still a little higher on the season pass than I would want but I'll get the first part at least and maybe there will be a sale on the rest when season 2 comes out.

You sold me as soon as I get upstairs.

Gonna get the first one as well.

Last time you recommended a game, I loved it.
Glad to be a beast recommend-er (is that even a word)? lol. Doubt you will be disappointed by these games either.

Both are challenging and super fun. They are short, but for the price, nobody can complain.

Sakura Samurai is awful and its all you guys' fault. All you people claiming "Oh this game is only 4 hours but this is 80 so this game is better." I want to throttle you all every time you clock a game by the hours. I hate you all that much.

And Sakura Samurai is an example of what happens when you people have your way. A game that has one solid idea that would work for 30 minutes gets padded out with inept copy paste and stupid pointless RPG elements to a game that drags and runs way way way WAY too long at 4 hours.

Look what you did! I hope you feel sorry!

I take full responsibility, even though I never said (or wrote) any of those things and I've never heard of that game. I'll try to do better.

For $5 for both, it is a great deal. I will almost always buy something that is $5-$10. If it's terrible, I am not out much.

I just started the first one, and it is a beautiful game. The art style is very nice and unique.

I don't usually play in 3D, but this game actually looks amazing in 3D.

I wish I would have bought the first one sooner, that game is very well made.

Yes, the games feel to have Nintendo like polish and quality.

Well, if it makes you feel better, I didn't finish Sakura Samurai. I got it not long after it came out, way back. I think I quit the game around the final boss area, where you had to clear a ton of stages in a row. I found it hard and annoying, then quit.

Does Star Fox 64 3ds go on sale on the eshop frequently? I'm picking up a new 3ds and I would love to have a copy of it on my 3ds.
Once that I'm aware of and was still like $30. If you happen to have a Club Nintendo account it's available on there for 600 or 700 coins. Can probably get those for less on eBay than buying the game even on sale. Have to register all coins by the end of March but if you register 600 by then you also get the year end Elite gift.

I think I calculated all my coins I have and it would probably be about 300~. I'm wondering if I should get it used at gamestop for about 25-30 or get a digital copy so I can just play it whenever.

Some games are good for playing whenever, games that you will come back to again and again, like Animal Crossing and Tomodachi Life.

From what I understand, Starfox is about 6 hours long. I haven't played it yet, but I have it. Those 3DS full games are Club Nintendo are awesome rewards, but I have a ton of unplayed 3DS games on my shelf. I just plan to trade for those games I want. I've been using my Club Nintendo points for all the downloadable games, since I can't trade for those.

But that's just me.

Like the original StarFox 64, you have a branching pathway system so you only play 6-8 levels at a time. Any that are beaten can be replayed by itself, but there are no collectables or reward system to enhance replay value.

So I think I'm going to cave and get the new 3ds xl. But before i do that I need to swap my 32gb card for a micro of the same capacity. I've been eyeing this one.

If anyone has a better or cheaper reccomendation I'd be glad to hear it.
Just got in the 32gb Samsung I linked a couple of pages ago. Not better speed wise, but for $12 with Prime, it was cheaper, and worked right out of the packaging for my CN download.
