Is SMT Devil Survivor Overclocked worth picking up?  I wasn't big on the Persona 2 (PS) mechanic where I had to talk to demons and recruit them (I could never get into the question lines and I felt like the results were arbitrary unless I used a FAQ).  I realize it's not the same game, but figured I'd mention my weirdness. Would it be better to wait for the second one?

Think this might finally be the time I get EO:Untold. EO4 was my first of the series and I adore it. It became on of my favorite games of all time. Played the demo and was disappointed to see the lack of a real sub-class system like 4 had and a huge reason I loved it. It gave you the ability to really make your own character classes. I'm sure I'll enjoy EO:U as well, but doubt it will be near as much.

I bought it when it was on sale a couple weeks ago and am almost finished with it now. It's really good and definitely worth a go. It's pretty much SMT X Fire Emblem, which is something I didn't realize. You move around a tactical map Fire Emblem style and when you attack you go into a single turn Press Turn (SMT Battle System) battle. It's quite punishing, but I find it fun and I think the story is pretty interesting as well.

You also don't get through demons with demon recruiting like Persona 2. You get them by bidding on them in special demon auctions and by fusion. The harder thing to acquire is skills for your party. For those, you basically call your shot at the beginning of an encounter. You pick which of your characters will get the kill on a specific enemy. If they do, you unlock that skill and 1 member of your party can equip it.

It's a strategy RPG take on the SMT formula, so it plays very differently than Persona 2.

Without reading this thread, I also decided to pick up Etrian Odyssey Untold.  Seeing how it was on sale again, I finally booted up the demo to give it whirl.  I was amazed that I was able to spend around two hours with the demo and immediately picked it up.  Needless to say, I haven't accomplished much of anything in my personal life since Monday since I've been playing this game non-stop since I grabbed it.

For those on the fence, try the demo.  It allows you to level to 10 and shows all of the basic mechanics (sans grimoires, maybe) and sets the bar for how all demos should be.

Am I the only one excited about the Korg synths going on sale in the eShop? I'm definitely gonna be grabbing one.
I am, too. Well at least I think so. I love the idea, but are these any better or even comparable to what you can do on your PC or tablet for that price? Of course I know that's a whole different thing but just wondering. Korg is an amazing brand and they make great synthesizers. I've always loved their sound, I used to go down to Guitar Center and play on them all the time. Anyways, I'm definitely going to look into the eShop ones. Even if they're not the best option out there, I just think it would be a cool thing to play with and want more stuff like this to come out. Also, do they ever update these or do you just get what's there, no expansions, etc.?

That EOU demo almost made me want to hang myself. It takes effort to make a JRPG story THAT grating, THAT fast, especially compared to EO4's charming story.

I don't know much about them besides them being great sketching tools for productions on the go, but I've loved every Korg product I've ever owned and they have killer synths so I think you're paying for the quality. One thing I read is that the DSN-12 actually allows you to make your own synth patches, whereas the M01D only allows the use of presets.

I checked out the Cube Creator demo for a few minutes. The Minecraft demo was better, what with an enemy coming at darkness you had to avoid.

Cube Creator just had you in an environment with a bg castle ahead of you. I guess I just don't want to put the time into building a game world for myself. I'd rather play one where everything is there for me. I guess people that like making things in games might like this. I never played Minecraft beyond the demo on the 360.

Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millenium Girl

Yay or nay? It seems like I might like it.

I bought fire emblem but I don't understand that game for shit.

lol serious.

I am liking Etriay MD tho. and it seems almost similar enough for me to transfer into a full rpg.

Welp, my brother without permission went to the eshop and bought BoxBoy! At least it wasn't a crappy game with a high price.
How's boxboy? I feel like $5 is a fair price, but with a load of unfinished games, I'm going to wait and see if it would go on sale.

There's a lengthy demo that you can carry over your progress in the full game. Best to just try it.

Hmm, I got an email from Nintendo with a master key on an email that's not associated with my NID. Not sure if it's associated with any systems even but it had to have come from somewhere I suppose?

Puzzle & Dragons Z + Super Mario Bros. Edition Demo

Wow... I can see why Puzzle and Dragons is a hit with the slants. It is slickly produced and filled with all the big flashy numbers you could want.

Huniepop still seems to be a better match game though.

Actually, I'm not being fair, I don't think. P&D creaks with the weight and design volume of what is probably the latest iteration of a long running series. Its ambition is considerable, at least from my limited point of view, but my view of the endgame is not clear. Huniepop, which I have completed, is a tighter package (nmaiow) with a much more restrained focus that I think rewards tactical play a bit more, or at least its meter management and strategies seem more rewarding to me. Less complexity, maybe tighter play.

The geometric game of being able to slide all over the place for a limited amount of time in P&D has its appeal though, I must admit.

Seriously dude? Racist much?
No, not really. Why?
The demo for Puzzle and Dragon is FANTASTIC. I had been debating keeping my preorder, but I definitely will.
What is it? I don't have my 3ds with me at work so I can't download the demo now. The screenshots make it looks like a bejewled type game? I'm a big fan of puzzle quest.

I also read that it's a free to play mobile game which reminds me of the angry birds games going to 3ds retail. Is it worth a retail price tag?

Yeah, it's a match-3 kind of game, but it's way more awesome than that. You can assemble parties of monsters to fight with you, and they will be certain element types. Certain element types are steoger than others. Fire strong against water; that kind of thing.

The demo let's you play a few stages of the Mario version of the game. The 3D is great, and graphics are much better than I expected.

As far as being worth it, hard to say. The mobile version of the game feels pretty endless, but I imagine the 3DS version won't be. It wouldn't surprise me if the 3DS version has paid DLC, though.

I liked the demo a lot. I think I will play through it again. And at only $30, pretty nice.

I only want it for the Mario version of the puzzle game. Do you think it'd be worth it just for that?
I am in the same boat, but I definitely plan on picking it up. Always enjoy a good puzzle game and Mario being thrown into the mix just makes it even better.

Sounds good! Like a bejewled/puzzle quest/Pokémon mash-up. Also sounds like a good digital eshop title. I'll have to try out the demo when I get home. Thanks!

I am absolute shit on the Expert demo. Can't even get past the first battle l.
You have to remember to try to make as many combos while you can while the timer is running. So, don't just move your piece to make a green match. Try to move it around the battlefield, moving other things into a 3-in-a-row pattern. Move your piece through other pieces before you reach your end goal, so that you end up with multiple matches at once. That's the trick of the game. Luckily, every turn doesn't start until you start moving something, so you have plenty of time to plan where you want to weave your pieces. Takes a little practice to get used to, but then you'll be doing it easily.

I spent a...um, LOT of time playing the mobile version of the game a year or so ago.

i really hope your joking, i thought it was the biggest joke of a demo.
I'm surprised you didn't like it. I thought you and I usually liked the same things.

I just played through the demo again, playing as the other team choice. Luigi's team is mostly water, which makes the play through harder, I thought. Still found it fun.

mostly they did not tell anything about the game, did not tell how the matches work , what item did what, what are coins for ect ect ect. Maybe other demos spoiled me but i found this a very bare bones of a demo. Also starting out at level 2 or was it 3 did not matters any better. I might buy it but i get it off gamefly first and rent it.

I thought I had posted my thoughts about it but apparently I didn't.

I didn't like Puzzle and Dragons from what I saw. Seemed overwrought and grindy. To me, Huniepop is still the gold standard of matching, though admittedly they are aiming for different things.
