I'd wait til the humble bundle adds new games before buying anything from the e-shop. I think Nicalis games are a prime candidate to be added to this bundle.
That's a very good point I hadn't thought about. Especially since they've had every Nicalis game on PC that I'm aware of in a bundle at some point.

Thank you for your generosity.
I've been wanting to try this one out for some time.
For the price it's an entertaining game with cute presentation. I think Frisky and others have talked about the game's issues which I generally agree with. If it were less "perfecto-run" and methodical in its gameplay I would have liked it more, but it's still worth checking out.

Jake Kaufman has put the soundtracks for Mighty Switch Force 1 & 2 on Bandcamp for free, but you should definitely donate if you like them. I love his style so much so I've bought both of these multiple times. The "Credits (Rescue Girl)" track on MSF2's soundtrack is a hilarious and catchy credits song.

I haven't played cave story before, but I noticed there are free pc versions. Played pc for a bit and really enjoyed it. Anyone think its worth getting the 3ds version?

At first I thought that cave story 3d was on sale, but then realized this is a port of the original. I love playing on my 3ds, but I'm a little worried I won't like it because the character looks really small on the screen size. I have the original 3ds so it's even smaller :wall:

Cave Story doesn't go on sale very often on the eshop, and as far as I know has never been 50% off.

Yes. The version history of Cave Story is really convoluted so I may be off a bit but I believe the 3DS version is an enhanced port of the Wii version which itself was an enhanced port from PC. Believe it's supposed to be one of the best/biggest versions of the game.

I already own Cave Story+ (Steam) and Cave Story 3D (cart), but I may just buy Cave Story again. CS+ is good fun but I play my 3DS more than anything. CS3D is cool, but the implementation of 3D is almost too deep and a lot of the colors make it look murky in places.

Sucks that 1001 Spikes still has bugs. That game looks perfect for the 3DS :(
I had the same issues with the CS Cart as well. It was nice, but the art style made it hard for me to tell what was foreground, background and where I could go, and where I couldn't. Everything felt very washed out. I was actually going to sale my cart, and then I saw it was rare, and decided to keep it in my collection. I'm also a sucker for those linticular sleeves.

I hear the old 1001 bug was recently fixed, but the fix creates a new issue for those who already have the game. It corrupts save files from the old version. So if your new to this game on the 3DS you should be fine, and older users can delete saves and by pass the new issues.

EDIT: Considering it took a year for them to finally patch 1001, I doubt they will do another fix anytime soon. The CS that is on sale is probably the "Best" version available. It has all the newest features, and the 3D rocks.

Nintendo why you no localize Style Savvy 3?

Hopefully it gets localized. I've put a ton of time into Style Savvy and would buy this sequel in a heartbeat.

Oh shit, I bought the original release of the MSF OST back when he put it up...I didn't know there were added tracks from the Wii U release.

Cave Story 3D is one of maybe two cart-only games I have in my collection. I meant to buy it at launch but oh well. I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who felt the same way about CS3D.

I'll put 1001 Spikes back on my 3DS buy list then. It looks crazy hard, but for the price I'll bite. Hopefully it's a fair hard.

I wonder if I should jump on Gabrielle's Ghostly Groove. I would much prefer to find it at Gamestop since it would be physical and only $3, but it's not anywhere near me.

I guess when they decided to do a 3D version of CS, someone made the choice to spruce up the graphics, but I don't think they thought it through much. It's nice to look at along side the original I guess, but once you actually start playing, you realize rather quickly, they don't work well for this particular game.

I'm thinking about 1001, but the 3DS version is the weakest of them all, so I may wait on a PSN sale, as the Vita version is better, and I believe it's cross buy with PS4. Although I don't have one yet, it's nice to know I get an extra version if needed. Mmmmm, decisions, decisions?

$10 is just too much for it from what I've seen. Seems to have it's own sort of charm but isn't a good game necessarily. If it was $5 I would go for it but not $10.

I can confirm the digital Cave Story looks crisp and plays alright on 3DS. It's tough to recommend it over the Steam version which EVERYONE HAS at this point. 3DS CS is just a straight port with the extra levels but not changed graphics or alternate soundtracks on the PC version. But if you're like me and here more as a Dumbassgamer than a Cheapassgamer then certainly, buy away.

1001 Spikes failed to impress me. It has some cute bits but it just seemed completely paint by numbers indie spikes everywhere platformer. Did you lot really finish Meat Boy?

I needn't rehash my issues with MSF but free is an acceptable price for it.

G.G. Wonderland is a DSIware vertical shmup. The YouTube video didn't look too bad. For $1.99, I'm in.
I'm more shocked to see they're still bringing over G.G. games, piecemeal as they are.

G.G. and Go series are largely "you get what you pay for" and since they're all like 2 bucks, you can at least content yourself with the fact that they're better than just about every cell phone game... roughly.

Starting playing Ikachan before my system started flashing at me.  So far it's definitely worth the $2.50 and unsurprisingly reminds me a lot of Cave Story.

I didn't mean to sound completely down on GG/Go Series. Some of them are atrocious like the zombie shooter but they all seem to be experimental, the sorts of stuff game devs might make to learn the ropes and they are all unique in some ways. Super Hero Ogre has the sad position of being the best non-port side-scrolling beat em up on the 3DS. Its only competition is Code of Princess which is lol.

That's not an unequivocal recommendation for Ogre, it's rough, it's ugly, it's tough as nails, and just loops when you beat it but it is still a fighter I respect.

Understood. New Japanese shmups aren't that easy to find these days much less ones that cost less than $2. I didn't go in expecting it to be Ikaruga or anything.

BTW, how is it? Is it a decent shooter for 2 bucks? It looks cool, and a little simple, which makes it playable for me, as the standard shooter is beyond my skill set. LOL

Supposed to be decent but short. Came out 6 years ago, it's a DSi ware title, in Japan so there should be stuff on YouTube about it.

Yeah, the video clips is what made me interested in the first place. I may bite, it looks cool enough for 2 bucks.

I'm actually running out of DSiware space. I need to see if I have room for that Wonderland...
"N" memory system is idiotic at best, as I'm having the same issue. Technically, I just rotate out my lesser DSi games, and keep the main ones active. It's not a huge issue, but an inconvenience for sure.

It is simple which is good for the platform it's on. I found it a lot easier to control with the circle pad than the d-pad. Anyway, it's more like a Strikers 1945 than a bullet hell type game but that type of shooter is more up my alley. There's only one playable character. I imagine she's supposed to be Alice but she flies on a broom like a few other shmup characters genre fans might know. The enemies are pretty basic but I found it somewhat difficult to dodge bullets even to the point that I haven't finished the first stage yet. So there is a bit of a challenge. For $1.99, I would recommend it to anyone who likes Japanese shmups on a handheld but don't go in thinking you're getting a Cave-style shooter much less a Raiden-style shooter. I just like obscure games, and it doesn't take a lot to impress me. Woah Dave is one of my favorite 3DS games - simple but addictive although I won't say Wonderland has that level of replayability.

Just finished Ikachan and it gets a 100% buy recommendation from me if you like Metroid, Cave Story, or their other games.  Yeah, it's short but we still got probably two hours out of it and it was super enjoyable.

Wait, is Cave Story (eShop) better than Cave Story 3D? I might buy it for $5 and sell my cartridge.
Yes, Yes & Yes! LOL The e-shop CS is the standard PC game with all the bells and whistle that have been added over the years, along with some killer 3D.

The 3D game is an updated version in graphics only, and while it looks cool at first glance, it really doesn't enhance the overall experience, and just seems to bring the game down as it clutters what was originally a basic clean graphical look. Even when it was released, I don't remember any reviews that said it was an improvement in any real meaningful way.

At the time, it was the only "3D" version, so it got props for that, as the standard game was available, but there was no 3D and it was also the bare bones edition. But most still said it was the better of the two, as the 3D version cost more and really didn't so the game any favors overall. The charms of the original are lost in the 3D version, but for those who don't like the old school look, the 3D version may be your cup of tea.

I only kept my 3D game because it's out of print and rare, plus I really like the linticular 3DS game covers, and this game has one of the cooler ones, so it's a nice collector's item. Otherwise, it's not that great. Sale it if you don't want or play it, as the e-shop game is probably the best CS version out currently.

Weird. So this game type kind of thing is not exclusive to Wii U? I wonder if we'll see a 3DS version of Captain Toad as well. I think both Captain Toad and Dr. Luigi would have made better 3DS games, though I know they obviously want to support the Wii U.

If I can't have Tetris 3DS, I guess Dr. Mario is the next best thing.

I know some of you Homepass.  Have you been able to do it recently?  I haven't.  I've tried everything from uninstalling my AV, to updating those programs (Nzone, NBAHomepass, Macpass, etc), and nothing is picking them up.  I need some P&DZ streetpasses.  I'm tired of using the provided lvl 15-20's when my guys are in the 70-90's.

Well that's a bit disappointing. Did stuff but not enough to get me to upgrade to the $10 level from the $1 level. Gunman Clive is really the only one in the added games I would be doing it for. If you don't have Runner 2 though that's worth it by itself.

Already have Gunman Clive, and don't own a Wii U so I guess I'm out for the BTA :/ . Was telling myself if I didn't have the added games, I'd just buy the whole bundle and give away the Wii U games, but don't really see the point now.

If it had been something that I wanted that wasn't only $2 or I didn't have Runner 2 on multiple other platforms it would have probably pushed me over but it's not quite enough for me.

Yeah, as much as I hate saying that, it's not enough for me either. It's a really generous bundle if you don't have any of the games though.
