Yea, so I didn't catch on... at all.  My bad.  (sigh)

On to more important things what's the best original game to come out for 3DS this year? Outside of S.T.E.A.M it's hard to think of any.

It's weird when a system can have a great year and a mediocre year at the same time. That's the case with the 3ds though.

I'm not really sure what your definition of original is, but Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX was easily the best game to come out this year. In my opinion. it's the best game to come out for the 3DS period though. If you take into account it's also an idol/life sim and has a PuyoPuyo game and you can play Reversi, or create and edit your own music and videos, plus sharing, it's probably the most versatile as well. Not to mention it's adorable as hell and the game is fantastic. Just my completely biased opinion, though. :)

This year my 3DS has a bit of a work-out.

Personally I liked: PvD/Mario, EO2:Untold, Hatsune Miku, MH4U

Games that I wish I would not have bought:  Happy Home Designer, LBX (good for about 2 weeks.. then became repetitive), SMT, Zelda Triforce

I didn't personally care for S.T.E.A.M but I could see the appeal for some people.

I'm personally stoked for Yo-Kai but I'm a L5 fan so I'm hoping for continued good games from them.

On a sad note, I was hoping for better from games like Legend of Legacy, Zelda, and Animal Crossing.

I want another Rune Factory type game on my system as well so them going under saddens me as well.  Was hoping to get another of those "style" games by the end of the year.

Mixed bag.  But 3DS still gets played more than my Vita.

Best ORIGINAL? You mean first of its kind? Son we could count those on one hand across all systems.

That said between Mirai DX and EO2U you already have a kickass year right there.

I honestly never even heard of that game until you mentioned it.

Monster Hunter 4 is a good one.

I'm not saying that there weren't plenty of good games to come out this year but a lot of them (a whole lot of them) were out on other systems before 3ds.

Probably just one of those years. 2016 has Bravely Default 2, Paper Jam and Fire Emblem Fates.

You guys can make fun of me if you want... but you know what game I am going to buy 3 of when it comes out?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPpOCQpLZ7E

I must have spent as much time in the first one as Animal Crossing (well, close to but Animal Crossing has wayyyyyyyy more to do year round (unless you time travel)).

Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Edition is really good, if you count that as original. I play it almost daily.

So... sounds almost like normal Persona then...
If you can handle this, then you can handle Conception 2:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUbWrfbbWvA

Persona isn't this pervy. Also the dungeon variety in Persona is much better. All the dungeons in Conception 2 have the same wall designs just different colors, mostly same enemy models, & have the same 2-3 layouts with no randomization like the Persona dungeons.

Resident Evil Revelations is back up to normal price.  I thought the sale ended 11/4.  I tried to download this morning but the shop was going through updates.  Can I try and call Nintendo to get the price adjustment.  I hate that I may have missed this at $5.

Thanks,

I don't think it will be an issue. "Yokai" is easy enough to pronounce - "yo" is already a word and "kai" is pronounced phonetically. The whole "Pokeman" thing was just because of Super/Bat/Spider-man.

I almost feel like parents pronounce these things wrong on purpose to distance themselves though.
You've clearly never worked retail during a holiday period.

Souffrir I will fite u cpme to my house if my dad answers ask for ryan i will beat you down

Do the RE 3DS games recognize the C Stick on the N3DSXL?
Mercs does not, but if you played RE5 you would remember that that gameplay style is not HUGELY impacted by the lack of right analog stick though you do lose the quick turns that high level players did to show off.

RER1 I am pretty sure does and but I think the mechanics there are far simpler than even Mercs so it doesn't need it. I certainly played a good chunk of it without before switching over to the HD edition.

Is there supposed to be something in this post? I am trying to enable all the JS I can to find out what makes a magic thing appear but I'm not seeing it.

That said, I thought Persona 4 dungeons were atrocious and boring. Good visual styles but with all the quality you expect in random generation which only has three things to place.

Still I have no doubt Persona is better by miles.

Has anyone played Code of Princess with the new 3ds xl with the faster processor? I have an older XL and downloaded the game, but the frame rate sure slows down noticeably with a lot going on.  I heard the faster processor doesn't help because the older games aren't coded for the new hardware.

Whelp, reviews are trickling in for Yo-Kai.  Looking like a 80-85 average.  There's 2 low reviews drawing them down.  Most complaints are about the battle system.  Still looks like another solid bet.  We'll see once more sites chime in.

Considering what the game's doing in Japan I think we already know the game is quality but I think some people are probably expecting Pokemon exactly.

The battle system takes some getting used to, but I had a lot of fun with the demo overall.

I wait all year for there to be games that I actually want to download from the e-Shop and my 3DS refuses to recognize my wireless router. Any tips or at least a suggestion of a good troubleshooting website?

Yeah, I'm guessing the same.  A lot of wireless-n routers have a g/n option that you can enable, that will let stuff that isn't n-compatible connect to it.

Also, if you have a New 3ds, you can't use WPA2-PSK (TKIP) encryption, as it's deprecated.  I had to change my router to one of the more modern encryption methods.  Although I don't think that would keep your 3ds from recognizing it, just would keep it from connecting.

I just got a 100% off discount for Whoah Dave!  Anyone know why.  The 3ds I got it on is not connected to my Wii U so it can't be that.

You don't have the same NNID on both? It's Cross Buy, so you'd get the other version for free.
Nope its really weird. I have the game already on my older 3ds which is connected to my wii u nnid and I already got that discount for the Wii U version. I was on my new 3ds and just looking at games it said Discount (not Sale) for $0.00.

Yeah, there has to be something on your end since it's not free on the eShop for me.

I was trying to imbed a YouTube video while on my phone. I fixed it last night when I was at a PC.

So I loved Persona 3/4 and have never played any of the other SMT games nor any Ertrian Odessey games. Are either of these games something that I should look into? Note, my favorite part of the Persona games was the Social Links/Dating Sim aspect. I found the battles to be meh at best. I watched let's plays of the first ~30min of each but couldnt get a feel for how much "Persona" was in them. Anyone care to offer an opinion?

While I can't speak for Persona Q, Soul Hackers has no elements of Social/Dating gameplay. The only other game with Social gameplay on the 3DS I can think of is Devil Survivor 2 with the Fate system, I guess the original Devil Survivor has it too but it's less apparent.

Keeping in mind I haven't gotten around to playing either of those yet:

Persona Q is supposed to be more Etrian Odyssey Lite than it is Persona. You're going to get more of a Persona 3/4 vibe from the story, of course, such as it is, but the gameplay is essentially super-easy-mode Etrian Odyssey with a dash of Persona thrown in. The story itself is largely fluff, from what I understand--fairly standard non-canon crossover fan service. There are no social links--cutscenes and such essentially fill in the gaps for characterization. For the record, I don't think there's any rush to grab Persona Q unless you think you'd be playing it very soon. Now that it's hit $20 during sales, it's going to be going on sale pretty often from now on, I'd say, and it'll end up going even lower sooner or later.

Soul Hackers is an old game--it was originally released back in 1997. At the time, MegaTen games were generally more gameplay driven--story and characterization were there (and to a much more significant degree than in, say, Etrian Odyssey), but you'd spend a great deal more time dungeon crawling and negotiating with demons than you did advancing the story or getting to know the party. That said, I've heard Soul Hackers is one of the most story-driven MegaTen games of its day. It also has a little bit of a cyberpunk flavor, which is unusual for MegaTen games. If you're familiar with older JRPGs (and I don't just mean FFVI, here) that had less of a focus on story, and are prepared for a more challenging experience than Persona 3 or 4, you may enjoy Soul Hackers.

Persona Q technically has no Social Link stuff in it, though it has these weird side stories that are kind of a similar thing where there's a little event that some people in the group participate in when you're not in a dungeon. The entire game story-wise is fan service as the two casts meet up in a new adventure while they try to solve a new mystery without really doing much detective work and you learn something about the self awareness of the cast when it comes to things like the Social Link dates and the Velvet Room, which was pretty cool. The battle system is a mix of Persona and Etrian Odyssey with the majority of it being Persona's system of exploiting elemental weaknesses, but if you don't care for the battle system, it might not be for you since that's still a big focus.

EO is far more mechanically rigorous and interesting than P4 in my experience. Combat in EO is actually fun and challenging, but also mechanically engaging and tightly designed in a way most JRPGs just don't come close to.

I say that because PQ sounds then like a Persona game where the combat isn't a total snoozefest. It... isn't really at that level... not even close. It's almost incredibly easy to break open if you find the right tricks but you still have a game with dungeons that are fun to explore, map, and puzzle through and some charming P3 meets P4 fan service. The game is loaded with skits between the characters as you explore and you get all kinds of voice work from everyone. It's an entertaining game if you at all like the Persona bros and waifus.

Really though, P4 at least was 90% talking/social/romance 10% dungeons. If anyone liked the dungeons they were playing the WRONG GAME.

Downside, Marge still thinks foisting Marie's shitty poetry on us is HIIIILLLLARIOUS. I want to smack that woman.
