50% Off Select XBLA Titles Labor Day Weekend!
about time they drop the price on anything on the marketplace...hopefully this will start a trend of a weekly "sale"
That would be cool :D

I want some of the sale games for even less ($1.25 cents for dig dug!!!).

I want dig dug, gauntlet and zuma. Will send account info to CAG with good feedback.

Half price for an already half priced game? Awesome!!!
I've gotten all the Dig Dug achievements except the Dig one. That one is a #%(*#%(#.
That was a huge pain in the ass, I was so filled with joy after I got that damn achievement.

You know, I'd never really paid any attention to Small Arms before but after someone said it was a little like Smash Brothers, I grabbed it. My boys are having a blast playing it right now (from the sounds I can hear 3 rooms away ;)).

Basically, I bought everything ('cept Dig Dug which I already had and would definitely have gotten for 200 points).

Considering my half-price CC points, $1.25 for Gauntlet and $2.50 for Zuma and Small Arms are probably not bad purchases .

I really hope they get a HUGE response to this and, as a result, do this more often. There are several games I won't get at 800 that I'd snag at 400 like the mini-golf game, Prince of Persia (though that is unlikely to be discounted), Band of Bugs, and several others...

Bit on Dig Dug and Zuma, and I'm still considering Gauntlet. Not really interested in Small Arms.

And I forgot how damn hard Zuma is!

Ended up buying Zuma along with DD, and Gauntlet. Small arms is good but I'm not big into fighting games.

I hope this starts a trend, and Cloning Clyde, Bankshot Billiards, and Mini-Golf all drop to half off.

I just picked up Dig Dug, and Small Arms.

While they most certainly weren't worth the money for full price, but they are both must buys at their discounted prices.

Please keep this trend up Microsoft!

I'm surprised that Cloning Clyde or any of the other launch games haven't dropped yet.

It would be awesome if they had a "discounted games of teh week" to go along with the Wed new releases.

In for all but Gauntlet, as I already have that game. Gotta support the 1/2 off deal, maybe it will happen more in the future.

:edit: the more i think of it i don't see this becoming a constant thing in the future. It will A) piss people off that bought them at full price, and B) probably prevent people from buying the games, until they drop.

It's a GREAT idea, and i'm all for it, but I don't see Microsoft keeping this as an every week thing.

Because there's no real reason since this is just computer space not shelf.

After playing through all 3 for a little while, i gotta say small arms is the best. I'm having the most fun with it anyway.

As much as i've been hearing people ragging on it, I really like it.

I caved in and bought Gauntlet but what is the deal, you can't add more credits when playing a Live game?

I tried Zuma and man, no disrespect to anyone who likes it but I found that game to be positively awful. It's not that it is a bad game concept -- Magnetica on DS is pretty good -- but the execution of the controls is so clunky I find it unplayable.

Picked up Gauntlet. I loved Gauntlet legends and remember playing this on an arcade machine so hopefully it will be fun.

I like it too. I am probably going to be playing it a lot more these up coming weeks. Until Halo 3, of course.

Grabbed Zuma and Dig Dug...hope that sales figures for these titles went up so that MS does this every holiday or atleast a few times a year.
I got Dig Dug and Small Arms. For 600 points, I couldn't pass on it.
Likewise, I'm sure.

I'm not a fan, either. Those games (Luxor too) aren't my cup of tea. I don't even like Bust a Move. Maybe it's something about shooting balls not being very puzzle-like. I thought Magnetica was vastly overpriced. $35 for essentially a Flash game with stylus support? At least Nintendo learned by pricing Picross DS at $20.

I picked up Gauntlet for the heck of it. I almost beat it with a friend on his Atari 800 back in the day but we couldn't stay up long enough to finish. Mostly I want to encourage the discount XBLA game idea.

It would be really interesting to see monthly sales charts for the XBLA games. I'm guessing that the sales for these 4 were close to zero recently and they all saw a huge surge. If so, I think we can expect the occasional (a few times a year as you say) sale like this. I mean, they don't want to compromise their pricing structure and have people hold off, but if they do it for games with 0 current sales, it can be quite a boost I'm sure.

I know Dig Dug had at least one sale last month because I just got it a few weeks before this sale .

I would LOVE to buy Gauntlet or Dig Dug to go with the Love Story for Outpost Kaloki X, but damn it all; both games blow.

Zuma is a ripoff of puzzloop. The makers of puzzloop, Mitchell, also made magnetica. They also filed a lawsuit against popcap. The fact that they're a small arcade company, combined with nintendo publishing it makes it expensive.

i just can't talk myself into buying a game that is such a clear ripoff of another game. Especially, when the game they are ripping off is super smash bros.

I like puzzle games like Bust A Move but Zuma just feels clunky to me and not fun to play.
I didn't realize it was a rip-off as well.

Does anybody else's Xbox marketplace say that its down and try again later? I've been trying since yesterday and it always says its down...

Purchased Zuma and Small Arms, thanks for the tip OP! I tried Small Arms out today before I purchased, and it looks like I can drop a few hours into this.

Even with cheap points and half off sales, I'm still stingy with my purchases.

Here's some sales information for XBLA over the past year.

http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=15117

Zuma is the only game from this sale mentioned, for having one of the longest average play sessions and one of the highest total times spent playing.

"Showing a classic long-tail trend, Coates noted that the first two months of Xbox Live Arcade titles only account for around a third of its sales, with revenues continuing to come in at a steady pace over the following year."

Crap. We'll never see regular discounts with that data.
Yeah, I did that and ran all over the screen after clearing it - didn't get the damn achievement. Not only is it hard to do, it is glitched, apparently. I've read you have to run around the edge a few times afterwards, maybe? If I ever get back to it I'll try that.

lol...me too, i gave up on trying to get it a long time ago
Got it this morning. This video was very helpful.
Got it this morning. This video was very helpful.
Well, fuck, that's pretty much what I did. I think maybe I didn't run through the areas that were clear to begin with, though, so next time I'll have to make sure to do the entire thing both ways (though I thought I did).

Also something I had read on an achievement forum is that running a clockwise loop around the entire perimeter as well as a counter clockwise loop around the entire perimeter is very helpful. I followed that advice when I got the achievement.

I actually got the dig achievement legit. Absolute PITA.

I went about it in a grid pattern, starting up/down all the way across and then left right afterwards. Try to keep only two montster left, preferably the red guys, since the dragons get tricky on the left/right movement, with their fire.

When they get close to you, hit them three times, just enough so they don't pop and get moving.

It took me about 5 tries, but I finally did it.
