The greedy white man (Dennis Hopper) was fine with paying the Mexican for cheap work... but when the hard working Mexican asked to be a part of the the rich white man's ivory tower, he was shot down.

There's the xenophobia, right there.

That would be third world exploitation/ Chomksy defined imperialistic exploitation critique.
Stop responding to him Brock.

He doesn't get Romero.
I get Romero, he's just getting worse a filmmaker.
The most important part is how people react to it... Romero's films would lose part of their charm if he showed how it all started.
I'm not talking about the cause, just human de-evolution. He did it well enough with Night of the Living Dead.

That's not it either.

It's more of a critique that no matter how much money the 'coloreds' make, the old white hierarchy will never accept them as equals, showing race trumps everything to old white money.

Agrees, which falls back into the racism cliche'.
Racism ≠ Xenophobia

Wow, good call. Has he even been in more than one episode?

Huh. Don't think I saw that episode. Haven't seen many episodes past season 9.

Also, ahaha @ this shitty officiating at the US Open.

Romero's films are legendary and incredibly innovative.

On another note, 28 Weeks Later completely ignored everything that 28 Days Later got right. The solidarity and subtleties of 28 Days were thrown out the window for in-your-face political narrative, obvious social commentary, and wordy plot review/summary/fat.

And yet, 28 Days Later said a whole lot more.

See also Alien and Aliens.

Anyone know if I bought something from Amazon and the total before coupons qualified for FSSS, and after the coupons made the total under $25, would shipping still be free?
The trailer for 9 reminded me of Little Big Planet.
Apparently the LBP look was taken from '9'. The movie is pretty dark so nothing like LBP.
Despite all this, trust me, Diary of the Dead sucks. I'm almost positive all the blood was CG.
The militant black enclave vignette and "new media" references were interesting, but the 2d characters and weak narrative drug it down.
28 Weeks Later was a fantastic action movie except for that stupid shit they pulled with the helicopter.
Isn't that a nod to Day of the Dead?

Yeah, the militants were awesome, they should have made the movie about that, but the main characters were just brain dead and the idea that they would just be filming during the whole thing just so they could upload it to the internet was just ridiculous.

The only other good part of Diary was JFD.

I haven't seen 28 Weeks Later since opening weekend, but while I remember liking it, I definitely liked 28 Days Later way more.

I should probably see it again.
It's great to see Clijsters back in action.
I'm glad to see her doing well and I'd love to see her win tomorrow, but the conclusion to that match was complete shit.

I'll say that the opening scene of 28 Weeks Later was very well done. It was built up perfectly, the music was great, and it got me excited for the rest of the film. That said, the plot was silly at best and the execution was even worse. It's basically what I expect when you switch directors.
I remember driving two hours to see 28 Days Later when it first hit limited release two years before it's wider release. It was definitely worth it.
That was kind of dumb. The movie had been out in England for nearly a year and was already on DVD there for a while before it came out theatrically in the U.S. It was filmed in garbage standard definition so you wouldn't have been missing much by watching it at home.

Wouldn't the DVD have been region 2?

I thought 28 Days Later was worth seeing in a theatre. I mean, yeah, I've enjoyed every subsequent viewing of it, but I'm definitely glad I saw it during its theatrical run.

Exactly.

Pixie just suggested I get my back covered with a tattoo that is all 1s and 0s. I suggested throwing a random "2" in there, and she told me to "Do it, $$$$$$!"
