AC:WW Discussion Thread - Visits/Trades/etc.

I'm telling you, there are times when the good fish are more plentiful, and I wish we could figure out what triggers that, or if it is just random. I had a one hour stretch or so when all the good stuff was popping up in both ocean and river, and almost none of the bad. I didn't get 6 stringfish, just 2, but lots of other good stuff like red snappers, football fish, koi, etc. And almost no sea bass, which is all I seem to catch now :D.

Question- where is the best place to planbt red turnips, and how often should I water them? I bought one, since my Nook never tops 100 for regular turnips. =[

I plant mine next to my house, because you have to water em everyday. I sold one of mine for 32,000.

So, it doesn't matter if it's close to a tree or anything? I don't want it to die. Also, how long will they live? I'm looking to feed mine to Wendell to start the golden axe trade. Can I plant it today, then water it every day until next Sunday, and pick it, then wait until Wendell ocmes along? (watering every day is all thats needed, right?)
 
Quick ?

I'm trying to figure out which trees are not producing fruit so I can axe them. I've been shaing the fruit trees and not picking up the fruit so I can better keep track of which is which. So will a tree continue to make fruit when you havenn't picked up the last batch????

yeah if you shook the tree and left the fruit on the ground it should bear fruit again in about 3 days. If thats what you mean?

Just a note if you axe all the non fruit bearing you won't be able to shake for money bags, furniture, or bees.

Just water it everyday, and it will live until you dig it up.
 
OK, how does AC work? I'm tempted to pick it up now that it is on sale, but is it an RPG or what? I never played the GC version, so excuse my ignorance.
 
Wow, I looked in my sky today and there was a beautiful rainbow! It hasn't snowed or rained for several days, so I was surprised to even see one. I knew they appeared by the waterfall, but didn't know about the sky. It looks so neat.

Anyone know if they just randomly appear in the sky or if it means something?
 
Has anyone found out a good way to plant trees really close to one another? Once I get the final upgrade to my house (pretty close) I want to completely redo the way my trees are in my town. Right now they're just all over the place, and I want to make them into small groups kinda like what Mirin has done with her town.

I'm pretty sure, that when you plant a 3x3 'bunch' (one space between each tree) the middle one will not grow. I believe it is the same when they are grown 2 spaces apart as well.

I planted some trees 4x3 and only one of the two middle ones did not grow.

I couldn't figure out a pattern for them (wanted them to look like a orchard of sorts) so I just went with planting the trees randomly all over the place until some one figures something out about planting trees.

Yeah, unfortunately... 'SHOULD be ONE icon for however many you buy, though!! That'd make it alot easier.... 'cause turnips sure do take up alot of inventory space. I decided to bury 'em all this time...

I remember there was some one having problems getting onto NWC, even though they could connect before. Well, I'm having the same problems now.

that was me. still haven't been able to get on anyone's town. I tried Mario Kart and that went fine on the net. I can see peoples towns open, but when I try to actually go in it doesn't work.

This has been happening much more frequently for me as well. I've been playing since launch and haven't experienced problems as much as I have in the past few days. I can see towns open, select them, but have been getting error 86420, which has to do with a UDP error. I've made no changes to my router's firewall at all.

Then I found this page, which discusses it in the context of my Linksys WRT54G router:

I didn't go through all the mess that guy did - all I simply did was go to the "Applications & Gaming" tab and enter my DS's assigned IP (got it from the log because I had connected to another town just before) to the DMZ entry. Then I got into Mirin's town first try after that - after having it not work like 15 times before! This is much better than turning off all the firewall and security stuff which would impact my computer...

Note, the link is not working for me now, and if it doesn't work later, just try the fix that I did with the DMZ (this is assuming you have the Linksys router).

I've got a question about the house upgrades.

The guide has the final room listed as the 928,000 expansion. The second to last expansion (the room on the right) is listed at 848,000. The weird thing is though, I have both of the side rooms, and the room on second floor, and I just paid off the 848,000 loan. But after I did that Nook asked if I wanted to upgrade again. So does that mean that the 848,000 expansion does nothing and the final room (the room on the north wall) costs 928,000? Or is there an error in the guide and is the final upgrade at 848,000?

can you plant more than one red turnip at once? or is it a one time only thing? just wondering, cuz I've had my red turnip seeds for close to 2 months now and haven't done anything about it...
 
OK, so I'm guessing it is damn near impossible to fill out the museum with paintings. I got my 5th fake from Redd in a row (with no real ones yet). What is up with that? My museum has 1 painting that I got from Nook (and I believe he only ever has 2 of them, right?).

I'm having much better luck collecting villager pictures than those damn paintings! :D

Also, those of you with perfect towns, what does Pelly say when you get it? Mine is saying something like "clean and decent place but something is missing" and "everyone needs to work together". This response is completely missing from the "perfect town FAQ" that I was following. I have all 8 villagers in my town, and I got through all the "needs more green" and "too many trees" messages. Now she just says this over and over.

And also, I didn't know Nook sold ANY paintings in WW. I thought only Redd sold them. I've only gotten 2 fakes from Redd, so I've lucked out so far.

Well, from the FAQ I read, the more flowers response is "needs more green". But then again, since the FAQ is missing the response I'm getting, maybe it is wrong :D.

Nook sells the Fine Painting and Famous (Mona Lisa) Painting as spotlight items. I have the Famous. I think you can even order it from the catalog, so if you want one I can get it for you.

There are no limitations: you can plant as many red turnips at a time as you want.

Very important though: you HAVE to water them every day! If you miss a day, they will disappear.
