I didn't see any topics for this and was wondering how it is, I may go pick it up today. It is either this or NCAA in a couple days. Just wondering if anyone had some input on it considering it has been out a whole week and I haven't even seen any reviews yet.

Ya I would like to know whether I should get APF2K8 or NCAA 08 as well. I tried the demo of NCAA and it was ok, but it's hard to tell about all the features from just a demo.

Hm, no pre-release reviews is generally a red flag. At the same time, I don't see how they could screw this up THAT bad.

I actually almost went out to try to pick this up on my lunch hour. Then I remembered I don't even have my fucking 360 right now.

Hope this game turns out good.

ya most places I have seen listed it as being out 7/10.

I haven't checked any stores so I don't know for sure. Just going off what I have read on the internet.

I have it in my gamefly queue, and an empty space in my games out. So hopefully they ship me a copy. When they do I'll give my impressions on it.

Got a call from gamestop saying it would be in tomorrow around noon. Hopefully, I'll be able to play it tomorrow evening and give some impressions.

I was shocked when Eb/GS called me tonight about it. This was suppose to be released next month. Worries me a little.
r u ready to lose ryles?
We'll see, I get the team with Barry Sanders.

Is that how this game works? I honestly have no idea.

You draft 11 former pro players and your opponent drafts his. Overlap is possible, meaning both teams could have Barry Sanders... or that's what I've been lead to believe in previews.

Madden is a must, but for some reason I always buy NCAA, even though I know I will be getting madden in a month. But this year with a new 2k football game coming out I think I will get it over ncaa.

Damn couldnt resist a copy for under $38 even though my backlog of games is growing out of control. Hope this brings something new to the genre.

Under $38?

One time deal so i didn't bother to post details. Basically a website that offers an item at a decreasing price. Think my price shipped was $37.36 when I took the plunge

what website?

See, I can get either APF or madden for free... i might jsut get madden and then get this one when its cheap, sicne this one cant get 'outdated' persay.

Game Informer's big negative seems to be the lack of a franchise mode, which I must agree has been my big concern. They could have simply ported NFL 2K5 with updated graphics and I would have been happy, but dropping the franchise mode makes the game seem a bit shallow. I'm sure it will still be fun, but I don't think I can justify $60 on it.

from all the vids I've seen, that is what they did minus the franchise mode...
Picked it up a few minutes ago. TIme for some lunch and then a bit of gaming. :)
Impressions! :)

I wonder if this will drop like Blitz did, seeing as it isn't a full fledged annual football title...

I'm a bit torn. I'm tempted to pick it up for the 360...but two football games in the span of a month that will be outdated next year is ehhhhhhh.

Like others said this won't really become an outdated game, being as the rosters are made up of older nfl players.

word. i'd say give it until November before we see it at $29.99 - $39.99
and who knows if we'll see a APF2K9 yet. i bet they're waiting to see how this one does.
the drop will also depend on that.

what if this one does good and they make APF2K9? w/ dynasty mode..

i'd call 2K8 outdated..
Ninja please, you just want someone to be the guinea pig and pick this up ;)
I'll probably pick this up once I see it. Then get Madden next month for a real football game.

Mmm, now that's a delicious football game.

The team customization is pretty neat. My wife and I spent some time laughing at some of the silly team names. But don't worry, Cleveland got their Bull Dogs complete with orange and brown and white jersies. ;)

The player animations are great, far less robotic than I remember from Madden (or the NCAA 08 demo on Live). There's a lot of neat little touches in the game. I especially like the ticker at the bottom of the screen that gives you scores and headlines from real sports, MLB, NFL, NBA, NCAA, NHL, etc. Cool little feature, and you can catch up on some scores while you play a video game. :)

I'm not a hardcore football game fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I always much preferred the 2K series to Madden. This has the same flavor as the Dreamcast and cross-platform titles did I think.

In the end, once you're two plays into the game, you totally forget you're not playing with "real" players. And really, when you can have Montana as your QB and Barry Sanders as your running back, who cares if your roster is up to date with the NFL? ;)

So are all the players real past NFL players or are there any made up?

And the ticker is bad ass, is it in game as well or just in menus? That was one of my favorite features of NBA live last year was the 20 minute radio updates and the constant real time running score ticker.

I bought this today at GameCrazy, and I'm a little nervous about opening the game up. I want to hear impressions, reviews, something. There has been little news about this. I'll probably end up being the guinea pig later tonight, and I'll most likely keep it to spite EA and Madden... Argh.

THe box claims 240 legends in the game, boviously that's not enough to go around. I got the impression that they filled up your team with fictious guys, but I could be mistaken.

The ticker is in menu and during the game. You can customize what types of things you want on there (headlines? scores? both?) and from what sports, or whether to have it at all. It's very, very slick and something that was totally new to me and totally unexpected till I read the back of the box as I left the store.

The ticker is always on in the game.

Cool, in the Xbox Live menu you can go in and read the full text of any of the stories' headlines you see on the ticker. There's all sorts of neat little sutff in this game.

You have 11 real players and everyone else is made up.

I'll bet if the game sales are bad we won't be getting a 2K9. So go out and buy it now!

No Franchise mode sucks, but I actually have more fun just playing pickup games with my friends. There's a season mode in the game and that's good enough for me.

Heres a question for someone who has the game, are scrambled starters in? On 2K5 it was an option where both teams would get random players from the NFL.

Also you can buy this game from www.lionsgames.com on the cheap for those who don't want to spend $60.

If you decide to buy from Lion Games you have three options.

Buy it for $51.99.

Buy it for $46.99 when you trade in one game.
Plus your trade-in credit will go towards the game

Buy it for $41.99 when you trade in two games. Works just like the second deal.

Hopefully this will be a good deal for some of you who are on the fence and have some games to trade away. I actually went for deal three, but when it first started I only had to trade in one game for it. I ended up getting All-Pro for $16.xx with priority shipping after my trade-in.

*Real* football fans want to know if Cincinnati is sportin' orange and black. ;)

(had to go there, ya' burnin' river bastard!)

(had to go there, ya' burnin' river bastard!)
hehe, you can change it to whatever you want, so sure! ;)

And for the record, when the Browns are sucking I root for the Bengals. They were so awful for so long they deserve any positive stuff they can get. Just beat the Steelers and we're cool ;)
