All Pro Football 2K8

I have this on my gamefly que, I just sent Dirt back to them today so if there are copies of this available from gamefly in about 3-4 days I should have it.

I'm liking it so far, even without the NFL license. Because I'm a 9er fan of course I have many 9ers on my team haha. But the create a team option is pretty cool. And the soundtrack isn't shabby either. The atmosphere is cool, and each stadium is unique. It does play alot like 2k5, which is either a good or bad thing, depending on how you liked that game.

And wow my team mascot is the Sharks, and my gold legend just intercepted a ball and he did a touchdown celebration by doing an opening and closing of a jaw motion, pretty cool. I'm sure they'll do that for other predator mascots??

I opened it and played one game. Picking my team and uniforms was cool. Graphics are ok. I do not have a HDTV, some the text is very small. Just like in DR.

Damn I just saw the replay where Roger Craig (silver RB) ran into the endzone and the animation on that handoff was very nice, almost lifelike!!!

Can someone explain the other players on your team? Do they have fake names or are they just generic position and # like in NCAA games? Also how many classic NFL players do you get to pick for your team?

The generic players have fake names and numbers. The way it works is you pick 11 total players.

2 gold
3 silver
6 bronze

The rest of your team is filled out with the generics. Here are a list of players by tier. I know Marino is missing on the list, but it'll give you an idea of which tiers certain players are in.

No you won't get banned. This site is made for posting deals on games and other stuff. ;)

Ok, people have it so I can ask. When you want to play a quick game - are there premade teams or do you always have to pick? Can you play "your team" versus premade teams outside of Season mode? I don't care about lack of Franchise, I mostly play quick games.

site is jellyfish.com

Basic premise is a cash back site (only site that I know that offers cash back for deep discount dvd 3%..found out after the last big sale :( ) but they have a 24/7 show that features items at a discount that increases as time goes on but they have a limited amount..usually one and once it is gone it moves on to the next deal( No longer rebate-price you pay is what you see including shipping, tax etc) Ipods, games, movies, even housewares and cosmetics. Go to smack show and look at past deals to see what has been bought. Gaming show is like 6 days a week at midnight cst to 7am and several times a week they have the newly released game show. ALA APF 2k8 for $37.65 shipped for me :)

If you decide to join I would love credit but if not that is cool too. (email is CAG username @yahoo.com)

I'd like to hear more impressions from those who played the game. How does it play compared to 2k5? Do you regret your full-price purchase? How much fun are you having with it single player or online? I'm really on the fence with this one.

One question I have to have an answer to: When you scramble out of the pocket, do the DB's try to tackle you before you cross the line of scrimmage or do they hang back needlessly when they aren't even defending anyone?

damn no marino...u killing me 2k

go buy this game!!!! if for any other reason than to stick the finger at moore and ea..

realistically though i dont expect this to sell to well...which sucks

Was never a huge fan of the 2k series but the game has a good concept. From square one though i can tell you i'd be pissed that they sold 2k5 at a budget price yet sell this one for the full $60 and you dont get the NFL license.

My problem is i dont remember most of those players, and pretty much all of the ones i know are in the Gold Tier(so i wont be picking many). This of course is my own problem since i wasnt a die hard football fan when i was younger. I could see a game like this being a true blast if it was in the future with players i know from when i followed football very closely(last few years and the near future).

No, I am pretty sure that Marino is in the game. I'll check again in a little while. I think that that previous posted meant that the list that he linked the thread to didn't include Marino.

It is better than 2k5. Don't believe the haters. Really, it is good and plenty enjoyable. I just don't like the fake quick start games.

I picked this up today and it's not bad. It's not great, but it's not bad. Part of my problem is being more accustomed to EA's control scheme, so everything seems off control-wise, even tho it's not. That part may come in time.

Picking from the player lists is fun, I was thrilled to see my favorite non-Steeler player Art Donovan included. I tried playing with him, but it's tough having a DT as one of your gold star players.

The customization is ok, but it could definitely be better with some more variety. The interface for changing things around also seems a little convoluted in my opinion.

I need to spend more time with it to give a more in depth review.

I've played three games of football in one day. I've never done that with any other sports game ever. I'm digging it.

I could easily see it not being worth a full price purchase for epople, but I'm sure as heck not regretting it.

EDIT: I do need to dig around the tutorials and try to figure out what on earth the charging does. I've yet to figure that out and the manual is pretty worthless.

If its like the other 2ks it is equivalent to a turbo button in madden. It also, as just said, increases the effectiveness of the move you are about to do. Charge up before a stiff arm and the stiff arm is more likely to work, charge up before making a tackle and it will be a harder hit. You see the pattern?

Ill wait till its $30. I might get it free from yourfree360games if it gets a demo that I like.

EDIT: Eh, im just going to wait. People on gamefaqs are already reselling their copies on ebay. Looks like im going to have to buy MAdden. :,-(

Wow, I might wait till its even 20 ish now:

6.5 from 1up.

Yeah, I was talking about Dan Marino not being on the list of players I posted. Don't know why he isn't on there, but he is in the game.

In the manual it talks about some moves or players needing two levels of charging. Any insight on that?

Again I haven't played this game yet but in the others the longer you held the charge the more effective it was. So I'm assuming holding it for a second would be level one, then holding longer would get you up to level 2.

Or you could possibly store a charge when you fill it up, I'm not sure.
Ah, 1up. Once again scoring a game whose number doesn't match with the text. They easily talk it up like it's an 8.0+ game, but then give it a 6.5. I can't stand their reviews for most anything anymore.

I was going to weigh in on what they found to be faults in the game, but it's exactly what we already knew. There's not a million different options for single player. For the way I play football games, it's not that big of a deal.

Seems like a majority of the people are disappointed, which I can understand for the price tag. I enjoyed the 2k series alot, and when it was $20 it was viewtiful. My question is: Is the core game play intact? I preferred the 2k series in terms of game play, and won't be disappointed if most features are still intact.

It's a ton more fun than I had with Madden last year after just one afternoon.

Had this had NFL teams I would have bought it today. Damn EA. Whats worse is that im getting madden this year! (Haven't bought one since 2001, was goign to get last years, but it was too glitchy).
boooo madden

i ve had "madden sucks" in my location since the day they anounced that exclusive bs
Say what you will, but if im paying 60 dollars, I wants to atleast bank on something I know will enjoy. I can't wait till the exclusive crap is over though, as I love 2k games, and think EA games are alright. I wouldnt have decided to get madden if it werent for yourfree360games, as thats where I plan on getting it from.

Ditto that. Massive loads of fun. Elway to Willie Gault TD, flea flicker all the way!

my big question is are there holes in the AI like 2k5??or did they actually put time into fixing the AI.. one of the biggest problems with 2k5 was receivers forgetting routes...dbs bumping receivers off their routes and no flag...

I have to agree - 1up blows anymore. I don't know if it's the fact that they take themselves too seriously or what...but to slam the game for, as you said, things we already knew, was completely amateurish on their part.

I personally find the million+ options for every player on sports titles across the board to be getting tedious and really sapping thefun out of the games. I swear they put more time into that than actual gameplay. Which is my main complaint on EA games lately. I want to play a damn full season, but I don't want to
A) work my way up the ladder from lower leagues to the Premiership (FIFA)
B) adjust prices for merchandise so I can hire an assistant coach to get my team's morale up for road games (NHL), or
C) set roughly 175 options for a damn season on football.

I think those options should be there for the people that want to get that deep into the game, but damn, I just want to take my fave team through a season and have fun. EA seems to have lost sight of that.

yeah..i just read the 1up review and it sounds a bit biased and maybe like they wanted it to be better so they slanted the review because it wasnt perfect for them....

In other words they got their monthly EA check. Taking a test before playing football never did strike me as a proper sort of fun.

guys..if you can run the flea flicker 3 times in a row successfully, the game's ai is bad... I'd like to see if that's true...other than that it's an opinion about game,,,

So... um, yeah. It sonds to me like less of a problem with the AI of the game and more that the team they were playing against sucked ;)
