Well I'd like to put forth some of my thoughts. I think being "green" has become an industry and has therefore been co-opted and in some areas become a joke.
I remember my mom mentioning a report about how some companies that are making things with recycled goods are shipping the materials to China to do it and then back. How the

is that green? That's a complete waste of fuel quite frankly. I have to think they wasted more fuel doing that then they saved using recycled material.
Truthfully if you really want to be green a big part of it is buying as local as possible.
As for the whole industry comment Al Gore's a big part of this, what with the carbon trading exchange they really want to see get up and go in Chicago. It's already up and running in Chicago but they can really help it flourish by shoving Cap'N'Tax(see Rahm"The Israeli Nazi" Emmanuel's "Crisis opportunity" commen) through after the BP disaster even though it will do almost nothing to alleviate things. Instead it will make our utilities absurdly expensive and help destroy primetime TV in the process when used in conjunction with the "Smart"grid. I'm sure GE doesn't care though because they're selling the Smartgrid and selling NBC.
As for the Hemp girl we need to talk. I can't agree with you more on Hemp. We don't have to spread the Green lie that using paper automatically cuts down tree's if we'd use Hemp. You have to understand we have more then just Dupont opposing Hemp becoming legal. Now we have Arborgen, who are pushing genetically modified Eucalyptus trees that can grow in varied weather and are fairly easy to pulp. Also we have Monsanto who have created genetically modified, easy to pulp trees. So we likely know that these two giants(I don't know how big Arborgen is) will fight vehemently against Hemp's legislation, arguing all sorts of bullshit against it. If Hemp gets legalized and pushed hard, all that R&D going into those GMO trees will be scrapped. After all, why get paper from a group of tree's if you can yield so much more from Hemp per area as well as grow it faster?
