hoping to snag 2 year ps+ and FF theaterythem or w/e its called tmrw. really enjoyed the demo thats on the eshop.

DS3 is worth it at 9.99, but it does pale in comparison to the other two. DS2 is my personal favorite. DS1 I couldn't play for very long for some odd reason (wasn't scared or anything, I just got bored with it), but DS2 I couldn't put down. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood, who knows.

That said the only deal I'm looking forward to this year is Killzone for Vita. I don't know if it's because the new consoles are out or what, but the deals are all just meh to me this year :(

Dead Space will always be the best. I remember playing that game EVERY single night wearing my Astros, lights turned off, and had goose bumps the entire time haha. DS2 and DS3 did nothing for me. The whole fear factor thing was lost.

But let's not kid ourselves, we're still all staying up until 3 a.m. to see.
I'm just happy that unless they added stuff since I last looked I only have to stay up until 3 and then can get some sleep! Just hope they stick to the calendar and drop stuff in clumps instead of stringing it out all day so you can't enjoy the day.

What's the best tactic to snag these lighting deals? I'm hoping to get Kingdom Hearts and possibly Theateryhtym depending on the price. Do I stay on the lighting deal page or the actual game pages? Do I need to manually refresh?

Click as fast as you can while swearing at the bots, hope you got a good place in line then try not to get distracted while staring at the amazon home page .

I liked Dead Space 1&2 but that microtransactions were even included in DS3 was reason enough to pass. Only reason I have it for PC is because it was in a humble bundle.

Just hate setting the precident that grind-skipping microtransactions in full retail games are ever okay. At least the kind that affect gameplay or shortcut a grind curve that the developers themselves set. Pulls me out of the game wondering if all the grinding I'm doing is there just to tempt me into spending more money, and if there were no microtransactions if the grind wouldn't be as bad. People say its not a big deal for DS3 but I just don't like it on principle. Understand why others don't care.

Hard to believe that so many people are passing because of that reason, but it is why I'm not biting on DS3 for console at any price.

But we need to make sure we're expanding our audience as well. There are action game fans, and survival horror game fans, who are 19 and 20, and they've only played games on their smartphones, and micro-transactions are to them a standard part of gaming. It's a different generation. So if we're going to bring those people into our world, let's speak their language, but let's not alienate our fans at the same time.
- Full-of-shit Dead Space 3 producer John Calhoun. ;)

Haven't played DS3 yet but yeah, it really is appalling (in a consumer sense, if not a "global atrocities" sense) that this microtransaction shit has so widely infiltrated the full-price AAA game industry. Predictable, but still gross as hell.

Wait is PS Plus tomorrow? I thought it was Friday.

You might want to check out Gamestop, since they'll have it for $20. I checked my local one and they said they have a ton of KH. I was also told that anything advertised, but out of stock, they'll order it for you and ship it for free to your home.

(I'm getting KH, Xillia, and a PS+ from GS, so did my research ahead of time. :) )

That quote was so ridiculous.

What other aaa titles have microtransactions?

Finally picked up Dead Space 3. Had been waiting for a long time for a cheap price. 10 bucks was pretty nice.

Might pick up Beyond Two Souls and The Last of Us tomorrow as well.

Thanks for the heads up, that is my wishlist as well lol. What time does Gamestop open Friday?

Ok. That's 2. Not sure how that's "widely infiltrated."
You know what, I shouldn't have said that, it's not really true yet. But it's a lot more than 2 games - try most of the Xbox One launch exclusives. Ryse, Forza 5, Crimson Dragon, and Powerstar Golf have 'em, and quite prominently too. It's a bad thing, and many of the big publishers are going to keep pushing for it. That's all I'm saying.

No that's cool. I'm so far behind in my backlog, I wasn't aware of any except ds3.

I hate freemium games on ios. I'm certainly not going to pay for microtransactions in any 60$ release no matter how much I pay for it. That producer is so full of shit. I can't believe he said that with a straight face.

Tomb Raider has them as well.

As for Forza 5. That isn't a game. It's a $60 ad for microtransactions. "Buy this in-game car for $100 real cash."

It's a greedy trend that needs to stop. At least with Dead Space 3 microtransactions are very unneeded and they didn't make the game purposely more grindy to promote sales of them, unlike Forza 5.

So....am I the only one practicing their hair trigger in attempt to nab multiple deals come midnight?

I'm also practicing my sad face in case things go awry.

I see Metro: Last Light goes on sale tomorrow. This flew under the radar for me, but I became interested when some critics compared it to Half-Life 2. Can anyone provide feedback? Worth buying? For the right price, of course. Thanks in advance for your help.
Metro LL is runner up for GOTY for me. It has an old school shooter vibe to it, like Quake or Unreal. It's absolutely an overlooked FPS that deserves your money.

I don't even remember Tomb Raider having them.  Just that the multiplayer was the worst I've ever played and never should have been tacked on to that great game.

Honestly, if a game's going to do microtransactions, I'd prefer they do it the way DS3 did.  And the co-op is sort of brilliant, so I feel that part of the game makes up it.  And it's not like AAA games haven't let you buy overpowered weapons as DLC for years now - Dead Space franchise included.

Have you guys been able to take advantage of Lightning Deals with a gift card balance but using your debit card? I have $120 gift card balance that I'm going to use for a TV this week but I want to buy these games with my debit card, but I can't get the promotion to apply. Is there a way around this? I got in on Sonic Racing earlier but I did a chat and ordered it full price and got refunded the difference. And it was a pain.

preorder two copies or more of some random game or an expensive collectors edition that comes out next year. It'll wipe out your balance.

Now you can pay for your lightning deal games with your debit.

Cancel those preorders before buying your tv.

No, and it's been a pet peeve of mine for a long time now. Amazon, for whatever reason, groups any promotional discounts together with your gift card balance. If you try to pay by another method you, idiotically, lose the promotional discount. The only way around this problem is to "lock up" your gift cards with a pending purchase, which you can subsequently cancel after your lightning deal transaction is finished.

4 hours behind the curve, you're losing it. ;)

Well damn it, it looks like the ps+ code is going to be a lightning deal =/
I think we'll know at midnight PST. If those games that are scheduled for 12:01 PST are just sales then I think the PS+ will be too. With it being part of their digital store I'm not sure they can hook that into their lightning sales thing as well since it's processed differently.

Thanks for the heads up. I want to get my cousin Beyond for Christmas but didn't want to Black Friday shop on Thursday and miss Thanksgiving...hopefully I can get in on this :)

It didn't affect DS3 at all. They were completely unnecessary. You didn't even need to grind to get resources. People just freaked cause it was EA.

Are the microtransactions in tomb raider bad? I was looking forward to playing that game.
No, they are pretty easily obtainable without buying them. I just have an issue with how stupid they are and that they exist in the first place.

I played through the entire single player of Tomb Raider and never noticed any micro transactions. Wtf are you guys talking about?

It seems people are thinking that any DLC is a micro transaction.

Ok I'm getting confused. Some people are saying Thursday for the PS plus, others are saying Friday. On top of that, where does it say that it's going to be a lightning deal?
