F.A.Q's
What is Amazon Warehouse Deals?
From Amazon: Get deep discounts on open-box, like-new, refurbished, or used products that are in good condition but do not meet Amazon.com's rigorous standards as "new".

Warehouse Deals is part of amazon that has open box, new but with damaged packaging product aka "dinger" and trade ins in generally like new condition. They are considered 3rd party by affiliation and as such the "Amazon Warehouse Deals" distinction but are still part of Amazon.

About AmazonSmile

Is the Amazon Warehouse Deals return policy the same as Amazon's return policy?
Yes! All purchases are eligible for Amazon customer service and 30 day return policy.

I'm using the games sort by console link, and the games will not sort by price properly. What is wrong?
You aren't doing anything wrong, the sort by price feature on Amazon is broken during restocks and or when pricing algorithm goes haywire. During those times, prices don't adjust and assimilate with the current inventory quickly enough to show the sorting as such

I'm waiting for a ps4, xb1, 360, ps3, 3ds, or PS Vita to pop up.. What time do they usually appear?
They can show up any time, the best way to find it is have the item tabbed on your browser, and download an auto refresh app and frequently check it, and or set alerts... Sometimes they will not pop up on amazon warehouse deals storefront, you will need to check the "used" section of the item

Why did all the prices of games randomly jump up?
Games on warehouse deals generally go on a cycle. They will get extremely low, great deals.. Then they will jump back up and restart the cycle of falling in price again.

I have a gaming credit and/or an Amazon gift card. Can both of these be applied to Warehouse Deals orders?
Gift cards can be applied to orders made on warehouse deals, however video game credit is only good for items shipped and sold by "amazon.com", warehouse deals does not count as this.

What was Penny Deals?
In early September of 2011, tons of newer release, more expensive games popped up for 1 penny each. Many CAG members placed orders, expecting them to get cancelled. Some were cancelled, however many CAGS got a large amount of games for a penny each. There has been no confirmation what exactly happened and why these games were sold for a penny.

What is this "glitch deals" that I keep hearing about in this thread?
On August 7th, 2014, AWD glitched out similar to how it did around penny deals, except lot of stuff went for cheap instead for a penny. The pricing algorithm went haywire and in the process lot of stuff went for cheap across the AWD spectrum from games to iphones to tablets and everything else in between. The "glitch deal" lasted for maybe a couple of hours and fellow CAGs that were around during that time made out like a bandit. Below is the timeline leading up to the night and the deals that went down on that night.

Items sold by Warehouse Deals and shipped to destinations in Alaska are also subject to local sales tax.

What do you mean by a "dinger"?
Dinger = Item is new but the packaging is damaged in some way or form.

These are speculative guesses at best going by descritption of any given item and also taking into account the length of time an item has been out since its release. Shorter the span of time from release of a game or console, better the chance of scoring a new item with damaged packaging aka "dinger".

AWD product description says "Factory Sealed", is this item new?
First and foremost, AWD sells used / open box items so in their terms it has been sealed / resealed at an Amazon Warehouse and hence the "Factory Sealed" part so no it isn't necessarily new. It isn't necessarily new because it could go one of two ways:

1. It was traded in / open box return / test unit that was resealed at an Amazon warehouse facility.
2. It was a dinger (new with damaged packaging and with seals intact).

What condition are products from Warehouse Deals generally in?
First and foremost all games from AWD are considered used unless specified as new. Usually, games are re-shrinked wrap and depending on condition they can be perfect / brand new, brand new with damaged packaging aka "dinger" to just a game in a generic case. AWD has 5 condition criteria for their listings and they are:

New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unopened video game in perfect condition in its original packaging and with all original packaging materials included.

Like New: An apparently unopened video game in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The box and item are pristine, with no signs of wear. Suitable for presenting as a gift. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Very Good: A well-cared-for video game that has been played but remains in great condition. The game and its original packaging are complete and slightly worn, but unmarked and undamaged. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Good: The video game shows wear from consistent use, but remains in good condition. There may be clear external signs of wear and damage to the original packaging or instructions, but the game plays perfectly. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Acceptable: The video game is fairly worn, but it continues to work perfectly. The box and instructions may be missing or damaged. The video game may have identification markings from its owner. Sellers are required to note whether the box or instructions are missing in the condition notes field for the item. Activation codes for bonus online content may be missing or expired. Product may not include downloadable content.

Any game I have personally ever bought in good or above condition has been in near mint condition. Acceptable ones have been a gamble. Getting DLC with games has also been a gamble and since AWD games are considered used, don't expect unused DLC even though there will be occassions where they may come unused. In regards to DLC, ymmv. Conditon wise, some people have reported that games were scratched with stickers on the insert. Consoles are also usually reported in like new or new condition with box damage. Rarely, a console may be missing a key component such as a power brick. Games listed in "acceptable" condition likely have very beaten up cases, or are missing cases and inserts, and are in not so great condition, but generally have a working game disc. Consoles listed in "acceptable" conditon can be either new in damaged packaging and or a pure gamble in what conditon they will truly be in along with what is included in the box depending on the time frame from release of the console.

Any tips on finding deals?
Sure! Here is a guide for a plugin for Chrome users to set alerts for items. Part 2 of the tutorial helps get AWD link to item not currently instock or that hasn't come out yet.

For Chrome users PageMonitor is a handy plugin to catch deals. (Guide listed below)
For Mozilla users, Check4Change is a handy alternate plugin to that of chrome's.

Also, http://theforklift.net/ for those looking for AWD deals in a pinch.

From my original post (concerning PageMonitor and AWD links):

I wonder if I'm doing it right. I'm adding the used page of the product (and selecting free shipping to filter it), however the program alerts me there is a change eventough there is none (the Sorry message we see when there are no products with free shipping - usually AmazonWarehouse).
The way I do it is selecting the price itself. For example I go here: http://www.amazon.co...&qid=1427814309 then I select the game/console that I want too look and click where it say used (dont click on the item link, click where it say used under the item you want). Then with page monitor I select monitor this page. After that I go to options (on the page monitor tab) advance and then click custom mode, pick. That will open a new tab withe the webpage of the item that I selected to monitor and there is where I select the price (the number) of the item. Then click done. Thats it, thats how it worked for me.
Time to revisit Feb 25th 2014 (and March 30th 2012) :

Time to revisit March 30th 2012 :). I posted a guide then and it very much still applies with some tweaking to what I know now, so on with it.

Before I begin, know this that you need to go to the AWD site if you are after something specific from AWD like the vita in this example. Also you can fast click the link to the edition you want (if it is a console, handheld, or games), and see each price for AWD only items if they are available. You would be lucky to see something pop up on AWD if bunch of people are hunting down the same hot ticket item at any given time. On that note, the alert DOEScatch AWD items before they appear on AWD and if sniped quickly (1-click), others will most likely just see a ghost listing on AWD by the time it appears on AWD page. Setting alert on AWD page also eliminates false positive alerts since only AWD listings will appear on AWD page vs every minute change that will happen on the main Amazon listing page. Now onto the guide:

This may help answer the question for few who are wondering how to use "Page Monitor" extension for Chrome.

Once the extension is installed, do this. Select the AWD page (not the main Amazon listing page to avoid false positive alerts) to be monitored by clicking on the Page Monitor icon and selecting "Monitor This Page" link (Use the link swapping trick mentioned earlier to get to the page if the game isn't out yet). Then go to Page Monitor options and do as following:
gallery_327158_7630_1370780661_26889.jpg

(You can choose to have custom notification sound, desktop notification, length of duration for notification, and the length of duration for refreshing as you please.)

Once done tweaking the settings, then do this:
gallery_327158_7630_1370780661_26890.jpg

Once you have done step 6, you have set the page to be monitored and you are set. A notification will go off that a change has been found but that is just to notify that you have set an alert. Mark it off as visited and from this point forward you are set to go.

Pro Tip: Set it to monitor the "used" tab via "selector" under the options by checking off "custom mode" instead of monitoring the whole page. If you set if from the warehouse side then it will only alert you if one pops up in the warehouse.

Those step diagrams have been here since the 1st time I made the guide back in March of 2012 and it is under my profile in my gallery so feel free to revisit it if the need arises.

I hope that helps my fellow CAGs. Happy hunting everyone :)

Mulder, on 04 May 2015 - 3:24 PM, said:

One thing for the procedure is that there are no New 3DSs available in the warehouse at this time, so I need to wait to test this approach.
Part 2 of the equation on how to get notification for items not on AWD and or ones say coming out in the future (like MGS V: CE)

Do this to get AWD listings for those items. Open a link to an AWD item (any item) but it needs to be an AWD link. Say something like this:

http://smile.amazon..../offer-listing/B00841ZJYO/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used&m=A2L77EE7U53NWQ&qid=1430778305&sr=1-15

The part in bold is the Amazon's item listing and each item has its own unique listing identifier so to get the new XL item listing go to the item's page and from it's link get B00S1LRX3W

http://www.amazon.co...DS-XL-Black/dp/B00S1LRX3W/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1430778512&sr=1-1&keywords=new+3ds+xl

and replace the B00841ZJYO with B00S1LRX3W in the AWD link and voila you have AWD listing for an item not yet availabe.

http://smile.amazon..../offer-listing/B00S1LRX3W/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used&m=A2L77EE7U53NWQ&qid=1430778305&sr=1-15

Here are all the new xl links:

Nintendo - New 3DS XL Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask Limited Edition - Gold/Black
New Nintendo 3DS XL - Black
Nintendo New 3DS XL Red

I hope that helps. Good luck and happy hunting! :)

Ehh, I don't feel that way. To me, I don't want to have to put as much effort into my phone as my PC. I don't want to have to deal with rooting the phone to get carrier bloatware off. I don't want to have to find a third-party UI because the experience I'm paying for is so cumbersome. If the thing's fundamentally flawed, why bother putting in effort to get it to act like what you want when you can just buy that?

All of the work to make Android enjoyable isn't worth it just so I can use Trillian. It's certainly not worth doing it 5 times so my mom, grandma, other grandma, step-grandpa, and others aren't on iOS. I'll let them sit in the kiddie pool where I don't have to babysit their phones 24/7, while enjoying a reasonably sound W10M experience.

Plus, I love that Lumias have good cameras and a camera button. It makes the photo-taking process much easier and better, speaking from the perspective of someone who doesn't usually want to take the time getting the camera open and taking multiple pictures to compensate for my not-so-steady hands.
It's called stock Android, and it's a completely different world than you experienced.

That is a nice thing about them. If only a few apps I really wanted were on Windows Phone I'd be really happy with it.

If you just want to throw money at things to make them easy to use that's cool. I like to customize to fit my needs and my speed. I'll put effort into something to get what I want out of it. Some people like to throw money at things that limit you but make you feel special with little/no effort. That's okay too... I guess.
Except where is the savings? I missed the part where Android flagships are cheaper than the competition. I got my Lumia 920 for $50 on-contract, and I got the $50 wireless charger for free with it. At that time, it was going to be $150-200 or so for a Galaxy S3 or One X, and I wasn't going to get a $50 accessory with it. I mean, it's looking like a Lumia 950 could be about $50 more off-contract than a Galaxy S5, but I'll take the $50 hit to get wireless charging, a better camera, microSD support, and a removable back/battery (the former more important for aesthetics than the latter for swapping batteries).

I have owned several flagship andriod phones over the years and they have all suffered from lag requiring me to reboot several times a week or my favorite issue of movie apps not working for 3 months because of licensing issues this goes for the tablets I've owned as well. I have been using an iPad for the last 2yrs and will never go back to andriod, I took a chance earlier this year and jumped from my windows phone to an iPhone and have never needed to reboot outside of the last major iOS update. I'm not saying iOS is perfect but Andriod is a horrible platform that becomes more and more buggy over time and with each update, most people I know that have switched to iOS or windows can't believe how fast and responsive a phone can actually be.
What shitty phones did you use?

Are you talking about a Windows phone? Windows phones are awesome, I'm not arguing that haha.

It's called stock Android, and it's a completely different world than you experienced.
But then I have to buy directly from Google and sacrifice the aforementioned benefits, like the camera, wireless charging, microSD support, removable back (for aesthetics), and dedicated camera button. I also then have to sign up for a Google account, adding to the unnecessary complexity of my online identity.

I don't GAIN anything over W10M with stock Android.

That is a nice thing about them. If only a few apps I really wanted were on Windows Phone I'd be really happy with it.
Out of curiosity, which ones? Like I said, I'm not a big app person. I can listen to music, access AIM, and surf the web. I'm basically covered. I'd like a better IM client, but it's not too bad.

Well, even iOS devices. The AT&T Next price from the S5 to the i6 (not 6S) is $1/month. Is $20 over 2 years really a price premium? Don't get me wrong, I find iOS cumbersome and awkward, and I don't like Apple as a company, so I wont' buy from them to begin with. However, phones are in that hyper-mainstream area now where each brand is basically the same price, and it becomes about loyalty and preference. It's like picking a TV now--you can find something good from 3-5 manufacturers at about the same price, so just pick one. In the same vein, the Android benefit no longer includes a pricing advantage. The Nexus devices are a bit cheaper than the iOS offerings, but as I previously stated, those require hoops to buy, activate, and some hardware sacrifices (though less so against an iPhone than a Windows Phone).

I want to bounce something off you guys quick...

I try to avoid contacting amazon over minor problems...and this one is borderline.  The carelessness of the packer was at it's finest here.

Ordered 2 Infinity Wii U Starter sets for $56 from a 3rd party packed and shipped by Amazon. One came with the box ripped, one side was almost completely ripped off. The other looked like it was just throw around and had a few large dings.  If this was for personal use, no problem, the components themselves are fine.  But... I am trading these back in and this will likely ruin a (LN) grade.

I did return an order from a 3rd party seller fulfilled item in September, but have not had a problem with an amazon fulfilled order in 4-5 months.

Thanks guys. Go Pack.

Would you contact cs in this situation?

The fact you have to have a removable back is a completely arbitrary requirement. Pretty much everything else could be addressed. Several manufacturers do at least some of those requirements, there might be one or two that does all. As far as signing up for Google, that's not a magical pill that makes your identity complex - it's already there. Don't think that having a Microsoft account is somehow safer or less complex. What hoops does a Nexus device require to buy? Clicking a button on their website?

You use Windows, that's great. I'm not looking to change your mind, just address some of the misnomers.

The biggest issue to this point is the quality of the camera - it's been the one missing piece. However the new Nexus seems to be pretty good, the Galaxies have been good, and LG seems to have gotten it right as well.

Android is a better operating system for anyone that wants diversity and options, and that's what I'm looking for.

I mean, I'll make this my last reply because this isn't the thread to do this in the first place, and I'm sure there's SOMEONE considering complaining to a mod.

Everything is arbitrary, in the end. The pink iPhone's popularity is based on preference. The customization ability of Android is arbitrary. One preference doesn't negate the other. It matters to me because I've sat with a black slab for the past 5 years, and I'd like the option to swap the back for something more vibrant. That, and it means that if the battery gives out, you don't have to send the phone off for repair, or risk making matters worse if you screw things up opening a unibody device.

As for the account thing, it's about consolidating things. I already have a Microsoft account for Xbox LIVE. It's not about if Google's secure, it's about having to create an account I don't need. The hoops to jump through, they're not major. They involve doing the one-payment device purchase, which sucks when your disposable income doesn't allow it quite yet (as I've previously stated, I just started working and getting paid, so I haven't gotten to save up enough to start making big purchases on a whim, though this isn't a fault of Google, and it would apply if I went for a Lumia 950XL). What kind of matters is having to wait on the shipping to get you the phone. I'm impatient, in some respects.

I would have to grab my little brother or dad's phone to check the camera on a new Samsung device. I haven't tried one since the S III, and it was crap. Low-light performance was trash, and the colors were WAY too saturated for my liking. But even beyond that, going with a Nexus device also means giving up wireless charging and microSD support. I have 32 GB in my 920, and it's not enough anymore for music, photos, and videos. I hate having to curate my media content on my phone (my music library's about 50 GB, and I have probably north of 1,000 photos and videos). And seriously, it sounds dumb, but the camera button really does make a difference to me. It makes photos faster to take, and it's gotten me more-willing to take pictures.

Android is a better operating system for anyone that wants diversity and options, and that's what I'm looking for.
Oh, yeah, no doubt. Like I said though, I'm fine letting the people in my family incapable of understanding electricity use iOS. Saves me 12 headaches/month, I'm sure.

Pretty reasonable, and I get it.

There are a lot of compromises to make with any phones, and no phone out there gets it completely right between hardware and software. Apple gets it the most right, most consistently. I'd go back to Apple if I had to - I did it before. I just love the connectivity I have with my phone, watch and headphones.

Once I gave up my requirements of having expandable memory, my world opened up. For music, I just use a dedicated device. Better audio, better storage, etc. Not an option for some, but then again I'm not usually in a position where I need hours of music - I work from home, it's already on my computer. When I go into work I bring the iPod Classic out of the car. Or if I need a better audio profile, the Zune. In fact, when I realized that I was expecting my phone to do too much (be a master of all trades), I became happier. Marshmallow's external storage integration might change the game, though.

The nice thing about my Moto X is the gestures - twist for the camera, chop for a flashlight, etc. The integration with my 360 as well has been pretty top-notch - I can't imagine the Apple Watch and a 6s+ to be $1000 better. My big issue with Windows right now is the complete lack of apps - I just couldn't do it on an everyday basis. A cheap Lumia would be cool to play with, but for me that would be it.

I mean if you're technologically ignorant, can't clear you system cache, use stock launchers, hate customization, like Apple's stranglehold on you, think drinking coffee from local coffee shops makes you classy and/or need things spoon fed to you then IOS is the way to go.
I work in IT as a "network engineer" (title is a little generous, but more accurate than hardware technician as that was my previous title), so I wouldn't consider myself technologically ignorant. I do love customization, but that was easy to give up given how buggy my phone was. Constantly clearing my cache, force killing apps, and rebooting my phone was annoying. Also, my Note's USB port completely crapped out before my 2 year agreement ended. iOS is very simple and in my experience, just works, although it is not without its issues either. Just my two cents.

From what I've gathered Samsung and TouchWiz are quite bloated and pure Google devices are the android equivalent to ios for speed and smoothness since there's is zero bloat

TouchWiz is absolute shit. I learned that a little while ago.

The kid doesn't know anything about Texas or apple products, so kind of shows they like to ass-ume things.

Just curious. I've been on ios since the 3G but recently sold my 6 plus and picked up a Nexus 6. Seems awesome so far, just trying to get used to it and hoping I didn't make a mistake
Should've gotten the 6X. The 6 was... OK for a phone, but not great.

What shitty phones did you use?
The last two were the HTC one in 2013 and the Note 3 last year, both touted as flagship phones at the time. The only decent andriod device I ever had was was my old G2X that ran a vanilla gingerbread os. This issue isn't unique to me, almost every andriod user I know complains about laggy screens and horrible response times. iOS might be boring but it does what I need it to do without many issues, my windows phone is every bit as good as my iPhone it just lacks some key apps I use for work/travel. I used to love the flexibility and selection of Andriod devices but just got tired of the poor performance over time.

It's mostly the skins. Touchwiz and Sense.

Since this thread has been OT for hours...

Does the Last of Us on PS3 brick super slims or was that just related to the old firmware update?

Well that didn't take long for this thread to spiral out of control. Title should be "Off topic banter with a few AWD deals here and there"

Lol

Just old phat consoles I believe.

To go along with the Dreamcast games lately:

Dreamcast - Console (A) $58.14  (oh for fucks sake, what's the Dreamcast logo shortcut)

THPS - (G) $5.14 - Guaranteed to be better than the latest one

People like you are funny.

When it comes to computers I won't touch Apple but for phones I'll go with the best phone with a large screen. So far I think that is the note but I would consider the iphone with the larger screen. I only use the browser, Pandora, and GPS anyway.

So what you're saying is you massively over pay for phones compared to your actual use/need.

I want a flip phone that's also a smart phone. I'd look so cool using it.
TBH I wanted one for real. I like having actual buttons, but android is also good.

Like the samsung folder.

I can't remember who made it but towards the end of flip phones being mainstream when the phones were getting huge because they had big screens one of the big companies made a phone where both inside parts were huge (for the time) touchscreens.  Thing was terrible.
