It was kind of amiibo related. Gamestop released a bundle with mm le, mm 3ds xl, and all four zelda amiibos.

I don't mind if the alert is non-amiibo related. My phone was blowing up with pings for a few mins. Also...lol at that bundle. It's $30 above MSRP. Nevermind, looks like it also contained the MM CE Guide.

Sold out in 10 minutes. Lol Gamestop knows how to take advantage of desperate people. They probably held some back so they can bundle it up.
 
It's not a bad bundle tbh if you want all that then that would be the way to get it

You ain't finding that skull kid figure and MM3DSXL just by walking in a store
 
Gamestop is trash.  They are anti-consumer.  Really wish people would stop shopping there.  The fact that they are still able to operate the way they do just goes to show how much regular consumers don't care about smart shopping.  I hope GCU takes an enormous chunk out of their new game sales.

lol its the same price as if bought individually and that's a solid price considering everything that you are getting with it , that $336 can barely get you a Majoras Mask XL.

I forgot the yellow text, I was just being sarcastic. That's a pretty good deal if you missed out on the 3DS/LE considering the ebay prices.
 
Questionable/shady practice. Some of you completely miss the point. Stock is held back and resold in a bundle. Nothing new here, GS recently did this on the 1GC adapter with 4 GC controller bundle.

It's GS so that's obviously the case but for all we know it could just be that they decided to sell the stock the held back for exchanges or returns and wanted to make money off it

10 minutes is not bad for NoA standards , the higher price point may have deterred some people but the people who realized how good of a deal this was flourished.

That's an awesome deal considering the 2nd hand prices are more like this:

$400 for 3DS

$130 for CE MM

$40 for guide

$15 each for amibo for $60 total

Total "ebay" pricing = $630.

 
Wonder if those are the returned 3ds with dead pixels. Heard both MM and MH versions had a lot of problems with dead pixels

Someone on Reddit said one of my "local" stores has 4 Little Macs in transit, but considering I don't get off of work until 6, and with the high amount of Amiibo fans in the area, I figure the chances of me getting on are extraordinarily slim to none.

The best buy in Bowie MD has about 2 Sonics and 4 Mega Man.  Some Samus and Sheiks as well.  I might have to buy an Ike and Dedede on eBay...  No store has them around here.

It's multiple reasons, really.

  • Some of these characters have never gotten figures or toys of any kind. I sincerely doubt there's ever been a "Duck Hunt Dog", "Little Mac", or "Pit" figure before, so quite a few characters have never been released in any sort of plastic physical form.
  • Amiibos are currently tied to (arguably) Nintendo's biggest franchise, (or at least the franchise with the most rabid fanboys) Super Smash Bros. Many SSB fans love the idea of physical versions of the in-game statues, and they're picking them up because of that.
  • Scalpers see that these figures are popular and were produced in low numbers, so there's a profit to be had. Because of this, many of the short-run figures are hard to come by, and as such more people are looking for them. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy of sorts.
Did I miss anything? I'm sure there's other reasons.
