They don't. Nintendo is very conservative with production. If amiibos failed (which I was hoping and thinking they would), they would have limited losses greatly. Sure, it limits success, but that's Nintendo for you.

 
Its not an excuse. NWS easily sold their entire stock everytime when they did it the old way. Now their intentionally forcing people to get there at ridiculously early times, freeze out in the cold for hours on end... For what ? It makes no difference to them. They are making the same money either way. Its a crappy way to treat fans considering they can choose another way.

Well, good for you You should be very proud, and there should be some sort of ceremony to celebrate how great you are. Please! Also, lucky for you that you were able to pre--order, and casually walk into a store and find what you needed. Some people weren't so lucky, and therefore had to try to refresh over and over to get a chance. That doesn't mean they have no life. Don't be a jerk and think that you are so special, because you aren't.

They're rationale is that it gives a fairer chance to everyone. The one complaint people had before was that it favored people working close by and now this is a way ot evening it. Not perfect obviously but eh,

 
He means in the sense to actually obtain one (at MSRP) you have to jump through all these hoops and shit. Which I agree but am not surprised. This shit dates all the way back to the Wii.

This is where this entitlement comes in. You don't need these toys. If you truly wanted one, you'd be in line waiting hours for it, you'd preorder it in time, you travel up and down for it. Scalprers, resellers, people with more money to spend than you obviously want it more. Is it fair, maybe but others put in more work and spend more to get what they want.

Just b/c you also wanted something doesn't mean you deserve it if you haven't put in the effort to get it.

I can see your stance on that, but there were tons of complaints before that they didn't even announce it until they were nearly sold out before - or they'd do it while everyone was at work or something. By announcing it they give people who want these and are WILLING to stand out in the cold a chance to get them as opposed to before where only people who lived right nearby and could run in on a lunch break were able to get them. Valid complaints on both sides I'm sure but I think this option is the lesser of two evils perhaps.

 
Complaining about the World Store is completely pointless because it's an anomaly. Unless it's in regards to a NWS exclusive, of course.

 
Anyone happen to know any good electronics stores near Paris that would sell amiibos? Same with if they're as abundant as Germany with amiibos? My parents are going in two weeks and I'll probably ask them to pick some up :)

No, I'm serious.

I thought they'd fail. Nintendo was entering a crowded field with Skylanders and Infinity. The WiiU is still faltering and the 3DS still didn't have NFC capabilities. Nintendo's brand loyalty is strong but I didn't think it'd be enough. Of all my game collector friends, I was the only one going for a full set which is a little telling when you know a guy who has a full PS1 set and another who has almost all DS/3DS demos. (As it turns out, a bunch of them got into the game late).

I was hoping it'd fail so, you know, I wouldn't have to have Amazon on autorefresh for days. I actually thought when I bought all of wave 1 at launch at retail that I was going to look like an idiot for not waiting when they were 3 for $10 in 6 months.

is anyone here from the Springfield IL area? I'm up in the burbs of chicago but all the toys r us around here keep telling me that the springfield store has everything, lucario, ike, dedede, pit, little mac etc. they say their inventory shows several of each, kinda tempted to take the 3 hour ride down there but I'm betting its more like that store keeps really bad inventory or has a lot stolen. I've tried to call and no one has ever answered, just put on an endless hold and usually hang up after 10 mins or so

No it was definitely going to fail considering the reaction from people interested was to wait until there was a sale to get them. They played this perfectly

Yeah I got all my TRU amiibos I reordered. If you didn't get them by now I don't think you're getting them I'd look into that. Went to TRU and used $140 reward cert on a red new 3ds so got it for like $65 :)

You guys are lucky with the TRU certificates. I checked today and they only gave me credit for the actual amount spent.  Maybe because I payed partly with a gift card, I don't know.

Either way, congrats!

P.S. I also price matched the Hyrule Warriors ($48.66) from amazon.com. Thats where the $11.33 instant savings comes from.

 
Dang, I didn't create a Toys R Us account when I bought my 2 Lucario's.  I never had to put in the code either, even though my orders were both "cancelled" I still got them.

 
Ok, I just got back from BB.

A huge wave of Mega Man is coming the next week or two. I saw the numbers in RSS.  Most stores will get 8 per location on their weekly truck.

I checked DeeDee, Pit, Captain, and Little Mac.-no new shipments other than the stores that got 8 this week of Little Mac.
