I understand what the original point to it was but it's a failed system. Just gets abused and is not used at all for what it was intended for.

 
Some subreddits are very good discussion and helpful.   Others are populated entirely by narcissistic tweens with poor taste in bandwagon humor.

I usually check this thread before work, on my lunch break and on my phone before I drive home. I got caught up in the 3pm amazon hoopla. my co-worker stopped by with his 9 year old. I told him I was going to take a few minutes and step away at 3 to see if I could get the order in. the kid told me I was being played. I returned and he knew before I said a word. my daughter will tell me the same tonight.

the amiibo collecting has made me abandon common sense.

Don't you guys realize by now that watching for amiibo preorders to go live is like the whole watched pot never boils thing? It's all about luck kind of like MK8.

 
I hope you all realize Amazon is trolling you. If ever their was a desire to crash their site, I think that Esteban tweet would be it.

Amazon would never actually let a real time slip since it would mean certain death for their site. This as with most things in life will require lucky timing which has never been a strongsuit of mine. BTW I have to go eat in a few mins so be sure to watch close starting at 5:30 est.

Great marketing on their part IMO.

They caught wind of someone on Reddit faking a conversation with a CSR and waited until after noon to basically tell people it with BS. Got them a ton of RTs, lots of attention, etc.

 
Don't blame Esteban, he was right with the times, Amazon wanted to defy him and changed the date last second. that's why the page monitor went off exactly at 3pm EST.

yeah i didn't believe it but couldn't skip 3pm bc of missing jiggly and greninja.. i had to check as i do every night at 3am lol

Amazon doesn't need marketing, everyone knows what it is already, worldwide. This was pure trolling. Even if the original response was photoshopped, baiting and mocking your customers is not a wise P.R. move.

Marketing for kindle maybe, but negatively impacting all these gamers...where they make a lot of their money, it's pissing where they "eat" not really the professional stance to take. Mind you I already have these pre-ordered. So I say this in a general sense. I am empathetic.

This probably has a tie in with Amazon's strained relationship with Nintendo. I'd be willing to bet on that.

It would be funny if their site did crash. They'd lose something like 10 thousand a minute. No joke. That's called "trolling back" - if you are pushed, I suggest pushing back. Just my two cents.
