Just picked up my Lucario preorders from Glen Burnie TRU! Apparently they had a line at the door when they opened and have been sold out and fending phone calls all day. So glad they reserved preorders.
Also picked up Bowser and Kirby to take advantage of the 4 for $44.

https://www.reddit.com/r/amiibo/comments/2u7r75/1_of_5_lucarios_in_my_local_tru_story_in_comments/

My story of what actually happened is a page or two back now.
EDIT: Linked my original post so you wouldn't have to go back and search for it.

Lol wasnt that the guy that said you were butthurt when you said buying up the stock of rare amiibo at one store to trade was the same as scalping? The irony :)
Looks like someone got exposed. Lol!

Wondering if anyone picked up a Lucario from the Clearwater, FL Toys R US? When I went into today there was no one in electronics and a lady at the customer service desk scanned my preorder card and said that they didn't receive their shipment of them. She said that their store's shipment weren't coming in until Feb 7th.

Just got my first two Amibo's today. Me and my daughter are going to collect them (probably me more then her lol).

Her and my wife grabbed me Samus and Zelda. First time I've seem an Amibo up close, they are more detailed then I first anticipated.

Are the Toon Link ones hard to find?

Not particularly. Sheik is rarer. Next shipment of bowsers that come in will probably have an equal number of toon links

Hearing all of the Lucario horror stories has been kinda depressing. I pre-ordered 2 for shipping back in December, got them cancelled during that inventory fiasco, then pre-ordered 2 more when they brought them back for 10.99 each as a special service to the people were inconvenienced. I've heard nothing so far about my order, and am tentatively expecting to hear that they oversold the pre-orders and may not be able to fulfill them. I guess if it happens, it happens. Managing yet-to-be-produced inventory can be pretty difficult; especially when dealing with the several parties involved in the assembly line (Nintendo, the toy production company, the shipper, the retailer). I worked in logistics in the Army...there were all kinds of snafus.

What bothered me most though was hearing about TRU's turning away people with valid pre-orders, when they sold them off the shelf in stores days prior. This is a pretty big deal in terms of both stock management and customer service. Simply put, it stinks. For a single store, it should have been a simple matter to keep an accurate count of the number of pre-orders made and limit the stock put out on shelves accordingly. Nintendo didn't make it easy for TRU with the lack of street date thing, but even so, employee education should have went out on this (It's basically the hottest "toy" in the nation right now) to control inventory properly. I don't know what kind of inventory system TRU uses, but it should've been fairly easy for the system to make the necessary quantity limitations to account for the pre-orders.

Offering, then not honoring a pre-order when you've already sold several in-store not only undermines any confidence a customer might have had in the company, but it also negates the strength that pre-orders will have in the future as those customers choose to forego pre-ordering in favor of rushing the store like maniacs, and the store being completely unable to gauge potential interest and having no idea where to set a par at for future ordering.

I see that folks are getting their Toon Links/Bowsers/Sheiks shipped out from TRU, but the order for my TL/Bowser is still in "Items on hold until release date" status. Anyone else have theirs in a similar state?

The problem was really on a corporate level. Threat of penalty should have handed out at the manager level, who could have instructed their employees properly. It really shows a lack of customer service and support by not handling this properly.

At least Gamestop does this all the time so hopefully there will be no snafus with Shulk.

And hey, if the Wayne, NJ TRU is local to you, TRU HQ is literally up the road from the store. Feel free to stop by and complain, lol.

I waited outside in single digit temps for an hour with about 40 people just for Lucario. I was 6th in line. I get to the register where they were, just to find out they only had 3 to sell after preorders... Then I look on ebay to see if there are any at a reasonable price and end up getting even more mad at the people like this...

Shit like this just makes me glad i paid $32 to buy it from Amazon Germany. I rather pay a little extra to buy it from amazon than to get my blood pressure up.

Although I checked yesterday and knew my local TRU only got in PO's I swung by anyway and of course they didn't get anymore.

The customer in front of me was picking up two. I almost asked the guy how much he would want on the spot for the second.

Luckily I stopped myself from paying a mark-up for a 10-13 dollar toy. I'll try to PO what I can and pick up what I find at stores but I'm not willing to pay more.

Nothing against the guy picking up 2. One to open/ one to leave sealed, one for a friend or family, trading figure etc. Plenty of reasons for it.

Stuff like this completely pisses me off. Stores have to recognize when something is collectible and limit quantities

It's shameful to completely grab-up inventory like this. This is not a case where you kick yourself for waiting too long. Scalpers are removing product from circulation before those of that don't sit at the computer all day watching for stuff like this even have a chance

Well... struck out at my TRU... arrived there at 10AM but there were a few people in line :whistle2:( They only got 4. This whole shit pisses me off. I mean if you are making an exclusive, at least have some to sell. This is getting ugly :whistle2:( I knew Lucario would be the difficult one to track down. Still have my Shulk & Meta Knight on pre-order. Rosalina shouldn't be too hard to track down.

You sound like someone I just talked to on ebay but agreed. I'm surprised stores don't have wholesale restrictions on items.

If it makes you feel any better, those Lucarios in whatever eBay listing you're looking at appear to be from Europe.

Now that I'm finally home I got to open my Lucario. I must say he's a bit nicer than I originally thought. Just happy he's over and done with. Hopefully the rest of my pre-orders go smoothly and that I'm able to snag a Rosalina on Sunday.

Fox amiibo is so horribly designed

The green eye lense kind of droops. The eye brows aren't even colored on good...there's actually a light brown line on his darker head where they missed the eye brow -.-

Cheap quality lol

I wish people would just stop buying overpriced stuff like this on ebay so we don't have to deal with some idiot preordering a whole shipment from a store.

If you are planning on taking them out and using them and want some of the rarer ones, just buy a European or Japanese version. They are functionally and physically identical.

If you are an OCD collector and still live in your parent's basement (I kid I kid) and keep them in their packaging, you have to be super diligent if you want to score a rare version.

Has anyone called TRU to find out what's going on with the Lucario orders?  I'm quite surprised there hasn't been any chatter about it.  As for everyone who stood in line today, MAD RESPECT!  I got into my line around 9am with 3 others, patiently waiting.  My store only had 8 and gave tickets to us in line.  Fortunately I was 4th in line so I was able to snag one.  A lot of people piled in the line at about 9:50 or so.  I feel bad for those that weren't able to get one, but unfortunately, if you're trying to get amiibos, you can't really snooze on a "release date".  I use the quotations because apparently release date is determined by the retailer.

Side question: Does anyone know if GameStop will be getting any extras of Shulk or will it just be online preorders that get all their stock?

I'm nowhere near there (TX) but I agree in that poor corporate level inventory/supply chain management on the part of TRU held significant part of the blame in this.

Those people who made honest preorders back in December for in-store pickup, and had their Lucario sold out from under them need to be generously compensated by TRU... a gift card in the denomination of whatever Lucario is trending at on Ebay would be a fitting reimbursement. Then again, we don't live in a society that dictates "eye for an eye" scenarios anymore...not to mention TRU has no contractual obligation to do anything.

Found three Bowsers at the University Town Center Gamestop in Morgantown, WV. They had a decent selection of commons, too, along with Target and Best Buy.

Walmart had ten Marios, ten Peaches, and ten Pikachus. Great job.

Finally got my shipping confirmation from bby on toon link and sheik. I was starting to get worried about them lol. Oddly enough they're shipping separate though, last wave I got my pit/capt  falcon in one box since they released/shipped on the same date. Oh well.

It's one of MANY conflicting stories I've heard. Honestly people are calling them and dumb reps who don't know anything are making things up. I honestly don't believe they are back-ordered. At the very least they would have sent out an e-mail by now if that was the case.

I've also heard everything from the orders are broken and will never be fulfilled to they will be fulfilled sometime after Feb. 28th (which is a random, made-up date). The one I'm personally going to believe for now is that they are going to start shipping out after the 1st, which is *technically* the real street date. It's possible the online warehouse and stores are not on the same page regarding release dates.

I called after tru sold my in store preorder. They gave me a $10 coupon. They said a lot of stores are back ordered and I should just keep calling the store...
