Jesus... I haven't been able to check anything today... it's so hard to keep track of all the shit going on.

Any further developments on Rosalina? Do we even have a solid date?

I haven't checked ebay for or a little while, but didn't the "holy trinity" used to cost about $400 just a week or two ago? I noticed now you can get it for about $200-250.

Think it will continue it's downward trajectory? Or am I wrong? Has it always been $200 for the set?

I bought that set at bhphotovideo for backorder. Hopefully they pull though.. not setting my expectations that they will though of course.

Not troll post, serious question.
They may have been asking $400, but it doesn't mean they were going to get it.

I guess there were a couple that sold for $400. Then they were going for $300-350 for a little while. Now selling for about $200-240.
Yeah cause... In reality the holy trinity wasn't that rare. If you spent 30 seconds on Google you quickly learned that you could import them from 5+ different countries for roughly $18 per figure. The value will continue to drop and then stabilize after awhile, for those people that ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO have a USA version (who cares, these figures 2 years from now will be worth very little, as we can see with SMB upcoming wave, nintendo is going to whore these things out for as much money as they can, which good for them I hope they stay financially viable for years to come)

It just takes awhile for this to sink into places like ebay. A lot of people don't care or have money to blow so paying $400 for something doesn't matter to them, they want to be "first" or have no patience. I've been collecting action figures since I was 10 years old, it's always the same.

I got my Villager, Marth, WFT and LM from the eBay auction I won. They were packed nice and neatly. All were opened up. I now have all of wave 1 and 2.

I heard from a guy at Gamestop that Samus is discontinued. I've noticed most stores are running out of Samus' too. I went ahead and ordered one from Best Buy.

I'm hoping there is a Zero Suit Samus amiibo available. She's one of my favorite fighters on Smash Bros Wii U.

Samus is in stock at toysrus.com, target.com, bestbuy.com, GameStop.com, Walmart.com

Yea totally running out

So frustrating, this is the third day now that my bank has declined my order from Amazon.fr I've called them twice to approve the charge and then the next morning I wake up to the same email. I need my rosalina without going to target hours before opening on the 1st or whenever it goes on sale

Something I found out on my recent trip to Canada - the Target Visa and Best Buy Mastercards do not have foreign transaction fees when you purchase things abroad with those cards.  You pay whatever the exchange rate is to USD, and that's it.  (Though the BB card is a bit more beneficial, points-wise.)

Worth it if you got 'em.  That was a really happy surprise to me.  The Target Visa's how I paid for my Amazon.de order.  :)

(Also, the US Target Visa still nets you 5% of in Canada's Target stores...for as much longer as that's worth.  XD )

Well I though Fox would be rare....but I guess not, so returning one of them.

Was at BBY today and I always though Amiibos were stupid.........then I actually looked at them.... and saw Pikachu.

Thanks for making me waste money on items that will sit on a shelf looking sexy jerks!

My Lucario has shipped from Amazon.fr and has an estimated delivery date of Jan 29th. My Rosalina, however, is still being "prepared for shipment." I'm a little concerned only because it has been preparing for shipping for the last couple of days. Maybe Amazon.fr don't ship out on weekends...maybe they are le tired and need a nap

i wonder if amazon.fr can't ship shulk/meta knight to usa now because nintendo/gamestop complained that they saw so many people importing rosalina/lucario

Rare or not, I'm glad to have Fox now. Started leveling him up already. I hope some day they make it possible to use them online.

What happened is that Nintendo announced more or less Marth will be re-printed so his value has dropped. Villager and WFT will remain steady.

Marth was starting to get into the 130-150 window. After the Nintendo announcement he was starting to go 80-100 for the US version. So this is part of the reason they Big 3 auctions have dropped a bit.

This. Several pages back I was called a Troll for predicting Marth prices would drop as a result of this announcement. Whether they re-release the same Marth figure or not, prices will decrease based on that speculation. Seems like simple market principles to me, but I guess the CAG that said that was probably butthurt because his Marth isn't as valuable anymore.

Mm greedy people.

Quite a few refused to believe they'd ever reprint him yet here we are confirmed during a direct kind of curious how quickly he'll sell out when he's released a second time people will most likely buy him out as quickly as they can so they can resume their scalping ways.

The real Superbowl party will be at the Target parking lot. Who's ready to tailgate for Rosalina?
I'm definitely going to be outside of my target, standing by the door freezing to death. I plan on jumping around between all the major stores, since they're all in the same exact shopping center. :D

The future value of these is directly tied to game collecting and whether or not the bottom falls out from the whole thing like it has for other collecting genre like comics and cards. Since game collecting is so tied into Nintendo, once these are fully discontinued and out of retailers, there will likely be some residual value if game collecting doesn't crash and climb beyond the highest values we see today. It's true that no amiibo is rare, which is yet another abortion of the term. They are in demand and that demand is artificially inflated by scalpers to boot but as stated, if you don't care about US packaging, the supply way outpaces the demand.

The man in charge of Amiibos has said they will re-release all of them at some point, and also use a "Disney-like Vault" on certain ones. Clearly, they don't like the scalpers making the money they feel rightfully belongs to them, but at the same time, they don't want things to be too plentiful either.

The best thing I can relate this too outside of videogames is collecting figures. I collect Transformers Takara MPs and Hot Toys that cost $180-200 at retail. With the Hot Toys, they may revisit a figure with the same mold but the box is different or it comes with different accessories, but even if a figure looks better after several versions, the first release always goes for the most as it is the first issue for that character. The diehard collectors want a first issue MP and Takara always reissues popular figures and may sometimes add an accessory, but most times it is the same figure with the same box. The biggest difference is something minor like production date on the back and just having something like 2014 instead of 2015 is enough to make a bump in demand. Just like American collectors are so anal and want a U.S. specific Amiibo with no difference in figure other than bilingual verbiage on the back of the box. If the people were complaining just to complete their collection, they could have easily completed their collections through the European Amazon retailers. People just want a specific 1st release US Amiibo and even though reissues may hurt resellers profit wise, which they deserve, the demand will still be there for the 1st release versions.

I'm confused about the where-are-you-going-for-store-opening-on-2/1 question; it's a Sunday, and Target & Best Buy (and maybe TRU, too?) have different open times.

In fact, checking out the four exclusive retailers, they ALL have different open times (well, except for some of the Gamestops) in my area. I'll be at Target at 8, Toys "R" Us at 10, Best Buy at 11 (some Gamestops also will be opening then), and Gamestop at twelve (others open then).

For me gamestop and bestbuy open at 11 toysrus 10 and target at 8. not like id be able to go anywhere that day as it's my early day(I start at 8 am) so my brother has to go for me.

BUT THAT WOULD RUIN THE RESALE VALUE!!!!!

(What everyone thinks but nobody says)
I am so horribly OCD that I can't bring myself to open them, but I have zero intention of selling them. I am a big Nintendo nut so when these were announced, I basically sacrificed my wallet to St. Reggie and lit all my money on fire.

I thought about what I was going to do with these. Being as I have more than enough chotchkies to put in front of my games on the shelves (and the Amiibo function was mediocre at best), I opted to just keep them in package.

The only problem I'm going to have is fitting these where I decided to put them. With the new SMB waves, I am seriously going to be out of room just by full Smash roster/wave 1 SMB.

How did you happen to hold up all of these Amiibos? I would like to do something similar :)

Also, what happens if the door fully extends!? Wouldn't that crush your Amiibos?

So people complain that scalpers are bad because they aren't buying them for the "right reason" yet people who buy them to keep them in packaging are also buying them for the "wrong reason." Scalpers see them as a way to make money and collectors see them as something to keep in their packaging and display in some neurotic OCD exercise.

By definition the real reason for buying these is to use them in games, so in my opinion, scalpers and people who keep them in their packaging are equally wrong/right.

I can't distinguish between them, I'm sorry.

Especially if the Super Bowl ends up being Seattle vs New England (go Colts and Packers!). Would be the first Super Bowl that I wouldn't want to watch all eight hours of pre-game and every second of the game. But alas, I will as I'm an American and I can't resist football. But the most exciting time of that day will be hunting for Amiibos for sure.

Ugh, you're making me sick thinking about the possibility. Colts amd Green Bay would be the ideal Super Bowl right now. Both fan bases of the other teams drive me crazy. Sorry for any fans of those teams in this thread.

That was my thought too. Someone storms into his room and now he has a bunch of rare defects!

I'm hoping for Seahawks-Colts. So sick of NE and I can't root for GB unless it's against NE.

I think some Hot Toys figures even come with a bonus accessory or special stand with first releases.

The amiibo figures used as a bumper so that door handle will not create a hole on the wall. Nintendo amiibo figures with one of their unintended use, genius!

I agree with this. My assumption is they will either use the same cardboard as the normal US first release OR what I think they will do is advertise games on the 2nd release box. IE: Marth : Code Name STEAM (compatible), Mario Party 10 (compatible) or something to that effect. I know we've heard the side stories of Nintendo/Retailers on the stocking issue. My feeling is they had no idea this would meet such a large demand on both sides. I do agree though, collectors will want the US version. There is a different on the cardboard and collectors of toys are incredibly anal about that stuff.
