And now, an OTT not made by an ignorant man-child

My super serious drummer friend said that the Pearl's I was getting were decent, and if I replaced the heads would almost be good. Should be moving them into the garage tomorrow, I'm pretty excited. My goal is mediocrity by the year's end, think I can attain it?

No, you'll become uninterested once you find out how much practice drums take. You'll want to buy something new in the next two days and never play your drums again.

I thought you still wanted to run in one at some point. You don't have to be such a $$$$$$ ass aragonian.

PS we all liked you better when you were fat.

Believe me, I know how much practice they take. I'm ready for that, I understand that it'll be hard, but I've wanted to do this for a really long time.

You told everyone here that you have rhythm so drums should be easy. Now you are telling everyone that they require a lot of practice. Get your shit straight man. Either way, Bioshocked hit the nail on the head.

Has anyone seen the BBC version of State of Play? I just finished the movie and if the show is as good as the movie I would like to check it out.
New SSFIV info.

I gotta admit, Indestructible kinda grew on me, in a so-bad-it's-good kinda way.
Well, At least the interview confirms that they've added a Tourney lobby, I'm Happy.

Having rhythm means I can keep a beat, which means the basic beats are easy and I can already do quite a few. I consider mediocrity being able to do more complex beats and fils, stuff that requires more limb independence, double bass, etc. and that will take lots of practice.

This movie "The Thaw" w/ Val Kilmer isn't too bad starting out. I sure hope someone at least shoots one of his limbs off or something.

Congratulations on getting your first kit, Puma. I'm a drummer myself. If the heads are beat-up when you get it, be sure to change the them. Ask your friend how to do correctly, and it'll help you maintain your kit a lot better.

Rest assured that getting good does require practice, but if you like it, it won't matter. You won't want to stop! Just stay preserverant.

When your first starting out, be sure to experiment with different types of drumsticks, as It may take a while to find your preferred weight and thickness.

Thanks! The heads are actually in pretty decent condition, but according to my drummer friend stock pearl heads are no good and I should upgrade asap. He said he'd change them for me and stuff, so I'll be set.

Is there anything in particular you did to learn when you first started out?

I had something strange happen earlier. When I was grilling some steaks out on the back porch the stereo system near the back door turned on for a second and then went off and when I looked at the receiver the switch was flipped on. Then a few minutes later when I was fixing my salad my notebook in my room started playing an episode of Entourage by itself.

Very very creepy. Hopefully it was just the stereo wasn't properly turned off and my computer was loading up the show when I didn't know it.

~~~
The President Palin bit in Supernatural had me laughing very loudly.
The Thaw
This black man not only survived the half way point of the movie, but he's about to cut his f'ing arm off.
The Thaw
I'm watching it while I'm on the Internet.
Whoa, Letterman had affairs with some people on his staff?
Ya know, it doesn't suprise me.
I once read an article, maybe two years ago, where a reporter discussed presidential affairs with another reporter during the Lewinsky scandal. This other reporter was retired, in his 90's and had covered presidents from Roosevelt to Reagan and every primary campaign in between.
According to this reporter, he knew of only three candidates for president who had not had affairs. Not just presidents. He also included primary candidates like Dick Gehpart. He said thatthrought the years he had found some evidence that all but three candidates for president had had some form of affair in their lives.
According to this reporter the only candidates who hadn't had affairs were Harry Truman, Barry Goldwater, and Jimmy Carter. That he beleived every other president., Including Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Kennedy, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Reagan, and Bush Sr. had had affairs at some point in their lives. And that pretty much every primary candidate in the time span had too.
If they're still stock heads, change 'em right away.
As for advice, just play as often as possible, and if you can, join a band! That's the best way to get better.
Thanks for the update Brak. I hope you're at work, hating life right now. :cool:
I'd be at a place you've never been. :cool:
I'm debating whether to let my whack-job of a sister-in-law borrow my really expensive (and really heavy) camera. The problem is... I already said yes. :x
Microsoft could've had my crumby seven dollars if it weren't for me finding out that the campaign was only 2 chapters long.
I don't know. There's something in my genes that makes it really hard for me to lie.
Is it because Jack Thompson's suing them for $120 million because somebody said they wanted to slap him in the face with an Atari?
